Abstract
1,126,633. Continuous casting., PADERWERKE GEBR. BENTELER. 21, Oct., 1965 [23 Oct., 1964], No. 44554/65. Heading B3F. In a continuous casting apparatus in which at least one tundish 13 feeds into a mould 16, there are at least two ladles 4, 5 which can be positioned alternately over the tundish 13 or tundishes to maintain an uninterrupted flow to the mould or moulds. The molten metal may be gas protected. A cover 8 with a burner 9 is placed automatically on whichever casting ladle is in use and each ladle may have two controllable outlets, Fig. 2 (not shown), to supply two casting lines, each with its mould and tundish which can be swungs away for repair &c. on a carrier (25 or. 26) to. be replaced by a second tundish. The tundish 13 is movable, beneath a fixed cover 12, with a simultaneous, horizontal and tilting movement, as described in Specification 1, 125, 618, e.g. to a position 13b for emptying residue metal into a slag vat 13c. The strand 20 passes from withdrawal rolls 19 and a bending device 21 into a shoot 22 to straightening rolls and a cutter 24.
