Abstract
PURPOSE: To make multiple steel ingots differing in height (unit volume) simultaneously and efficiently, by using a lower surface plate provided by branching multiple runners equipped with runner cutting devices off from a molten steel pouring pipe.
CONSTITUTION: Runners B1WB8 having runner cutting devices are branched off from a common molten steel pouring pipe A, and provided in a lower surface plate B, and molds D (D1WD8) are provided on the lower surface plate B, through, if necessary, upper surface plates C (C1WC8). Molten steel is poured in from the pouring pipe 8. When, for instance, the level of molten steel 14 in the mold D1 reaches a target position, a cylinder 2 is operated to close the runner B1, thus stopping pouring into the mold D1. Similarly operating with each runner cutting device for molds D2WD8, various ingot of desired height or unit volume may be made in each mold D1WD8.
