Abstract

PURPOSE: To float and separate inclusions without letting the same be captured in steel ingot and reduce the inclusions of the steel ingot surface layer part by providing three or more molten steel discharge ports of the molding board in proximity to the mold wall.
CONSTITUTION: Three or more discharge ports 11W16 are formed to a sub-molding board 10, at a distance of 350mm or less from the inside wall of the mold. Molten steel enters the sub-molding board 19 through the cross gate 17 and rise part 18 of the master molding board and is poured into the mold by the discharge ports 11W16. If the molten steel discharge ports provided to the molding board of the bottom part of the mold are approached to the mold wall in this way, the temperature near the mold of the initial period of casting increases and the inclusions float and are separated without being captured into the steel ingot.
