Abstract

PURPOSE: To cast the products free from construction defects with a good yield by providing the specific hollow refractory member communicating with the casting cavities of plural laminations in adjacency to these in the stack casting method of shift forks.
CONSTITUTION: For example, molds 5AW5E are disposed between the die 3 forming a cross gate and a lower die 4 to form shift fork casting cavities 10 respectively between these. A hollow refractory member 20 is disposed at the central part thereof. The molten metal poured through a pouring cap 6 subsequently flows into the cavity a through a throttle 22, into the cavity b through a throttle 24 and into the cavity c through a throttle 25. Next, the molten metal having flowed into the spacing c goes into the clearance 14 through a cross gate hole 26, overflows the ingate 15 and flows into the lowermost casting cavity 10. The abovementioned process subsequently takes place to the upper casting cavities but in the course of these the hollow refractory member 20 is held heated from the inside and outside by the molten metal and therefore the effective feeding effect is obtained and the yield of products improves.
