Abstract

A method of making one or more windings on a toroid comprises bending a plurality of flexible wires 16 around the toroid 10 (Figs. 1- 4, not shown), to form regularly-spaced open loops, displacing one end, e.g. the inner, of each loop relative to the other end to align the one end with the other end of another loop (Figs. 5, 6, not shown), the one ends all being displaced simultaneously by an equal amount, and joining each displaced one end to the other end with which it is now aligned (Figs. 7-11, not shown). The wires are wound on the toroid using grooved mandrels. After skewing, the inner ends of the loops relative to the outer ends, the joins are made by arc-welding. Terminal lead portions 44 are left free. The toroid may be of conductive material with an insulating coating, or may be of insulating material. The wound toroid may be coated with insulant.
