Abstract

1318929 Electron beam magnetic deflecting apparatus PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 1 Dec 1970 [4 Dec 1969] 57016/70 Heading H1D A deflecting coil for a camera tube is made by simultaneously winding a plurality of adjacent concentric layers of wire having an insulating and bonding coating, the coil being bent to semicylindrical form after winding. In one example four wires from different spools are wound on a rectangular former to the shape shown in plan in Fig. 2. After the inner turns have been wound four pins 9 may be passed through the former so that the outer turns of the coil are more rectangular. After winding, the coils may be heated by passing a current through them to bond them into a single unit, the coating on the wire preferably being of thermoplastic material, and finally the coil is bent to the cylindrical shape of the tube. The four windings may be connected in series.
