Abstract

1280289 Electron beam deflecting apparatus PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [18 Feb 1970] 21812/71 Heading H1D An electrostatic screen for use between the line and field deflection coils of a camera tube, comprises at least two interleaved helical conductors. In Fig. 1 the helical conductors 3 and 5 are earthed at opposite ends 9 and 15 respectively either directly at 11 and 17 or via a prolongation 19 of the conductor 3; the opposite ends of the conductors are free, in order to avoid a magnetic short-circuit, but are effectively earthed at high frequencies through their capacity to the other conductor. The conductors may be embedded in a former on which one of the deflecting coils is wound. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), there are four helical conductors, adjacent ones being earthed at opposite ends. The conductors may be insulated wires.
