Abstract

Procedimiento de obtención de corindón por reducción carbotérmica de minerales aluminosos, en dos etapas, por tratamiento de este mineral en presencia de un agente reductor a temperatura inferior a unos 1500ºC , luego tratamiento del mineral intermediario así obtenido en un horno eléctrico de arco voltaico, caracterizado porque se trata en primer lugar, en un horno de combustión a temperatura superior a unos 700ºC , un mineral cuya relacion "R" del peso de oxígeno, unido al estado de óxidos de hierro, de silicio y de titanio, al de la alúmina es al menos igual al 19% por una cantidad de agente reductor al menos igual a la estoequiométricamente necesaria para fijar la cantidad de oxígeno definida por la disminución de "R" hasta un valor inferior al 19% luego se trata, en un horno eléctrico de arco voltaico, el mineral intermediario así obtenido que contiene prácticamente la totalidad del hierro y del silicio presente en el mineral del principio con carbón en cantidad por lo menos igual a laestoequiométricamente necesaria para la reducción de las impurezas oxidadas contenidas, según toda técnica conocida.
