Abstract
Un tampón para aislar y concentrar microorganismos viables de una muestra de hemocultivo positivo que comprende una solución base que comprende un caldo nutritivo; al menos un detergente no iónico que comprende saponina y tritón X-100; al menos un tiol; y opcionalmente, cloruro de amonio, en el que la concentración del caldo nutritivo en el tampón es de aproximadamente 10 g/l a aproximadamente 50 g/l, la concentración de los detergentes no iónicos en el tampón es de aproximadamente 0,01 g/l a aproximadamente 20 g/l, la concentración del al menos un tiol en el tampón es de aproximadamente 0,005 g/l a 4 g/l y la concentración del cloruro de amonio opcional en el tampón, si está presente, es de aproximadamente 0,01 g/l a aproximadamente 80 g/l, en el que las cantidades relativas de la solución base, el al menos un detergente no iónico y el al menos un tiol en el tampón se seleccionan para conservar la viabilidad de S. pneumoniae.
