Abstract

Método y aparato para densificar material fibroso tal como algodón cosechado, por desplazamiento del algodón, continuamente, por una zona de compactación de la cosechadora. Las fibras de algodón son comprimidas y alimentadas por una zona (24) de cizalladura para traslación diferencial, bloqueándolas para formar una esterilla (11) compacta, uniforme. Una esterilla continua de material comprimido con fibras bloqueadas se conforma como una paca de alta densidad, uniforme, redonda y densa (32R) o rectangular. Un sistema de compactación incluye un sistema neumático (14a) que alimenta algodón a un área (20a) de acumulación y a la zona de compactación. Una zona (28) de compactación horizontal permite cerrar cualesquiera huecos en la sección de alimentación o resultantes de la compactación o la cizalladura.
