Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un método para someter a intercambio agentes de derivación en grupos funcionales iónicos, preferentmente grupos funcionales sulfato, sulfonato y carboxilato, en polímero, y mantener así seguidamente estos agentes de derivación en su lugar por enlaces iónicos fuertes. Los grupos funcionales iónicos son los habitualmente usados en la industria para mejorar la capacidad de coloración y, por lo tanto, no presentan ningún problema con los tratamientos textiles normalmente encontrados en la industria. El polímero de poliacrilonitrilo es sintetizado con un comonómero iónico para obtener un cierto número de sitios para colorantes por encima del requerido para la coloración. El sodio u otro catión que está iónicamente unido al comonómero iónico, así como los grupos terminales sulfonato y sulfato, son seguidamente sometidos a intercambio con un agente de derivación. Los agentes de derivación preferidos comprenden un compuesto de amonio cuaternario. Las aminas protonadas, tales como una sal de tetrametil-amonio cuaternario, una sal de tetrabutil-amonio cuaternario, una sal de amonio cuaternario de una dimetil-amina de ácido graso y las aminas primarias protonadas contenidas en el biopolímero de quitosano, son satisfactoriamente sometidas a intercambio con los contraiones de los grupos funcionales sulfato y sulfonato disponibles en los polímeros acrílicos. El agente de derivación confiere una actividad antimicrobiana al polímero y puede mejorar la propiedades reológicas.
