Abstract

Un procedimiento mejorado para producir ácido nítrico por oxidación de amoníaco gaseoso para formar tetróxido de dinitrógeno gaseoso, haciendo reaccionar el tetróxido de dinitrógeno con agua en una zona de absorción para formar ácido nítrico acuoso y óxido nítrico gaseoso, separando la corriente ácido nítrico/óxido nítrico de la zona de absorción y alimentando la corriente a una zona de blanqueo del ácido nítrico, eliminando las impurezas del ácido nítrico en la zona de blanqueo para formar ácido nítrico producto y añadiendo oxígeno gaseoso suplementario a una o más de las corrientes de reacción para aumentar la producción de ácido nítrico y/o su concentración, consistiendo la mejora en inyectar el oxígeno suplementario en una corriente del procedimiento que contiene ácido nítrico para formar en ella una mezcla de burbujas de gas/líquido que consiste en una dispersión fina de burbujas de gas que tienen diámetros de menos de aproximadamente 0,1 mm y que de ese modo proporcionan una mayor superficie interfacial entre las burbujas de gas y la mezcla líquida.
