EL INVENTO CONCIERNE A CONMUTADORES ASINCRONOS DE DIVISION DE TIEMPO ESPECIALMENTE PARA CONMUTACION DE PAQUETES. EN UNA INCLUSION UN CONMUTADOR TIENEN 256 PUERTOS EJECUTANDO A 155 MBITS Y PUEDE CONMUTAR CELULAS DE DATOS ENTRANTES EN CADA UNO DE LOS PUERTOS DE ENTRADA PARA CUALQUIERA DE LOS 256 PUERTOS DE SALIDA. EN CADA PUERTO DE ENTRADA UN CONMUTADOR DISTRIBUYE SECUENCIALMENTE LAS CELULAS DE DATOS RECIBIDOS A TRAVES DE 16 SALIDAS CADA UNA DE LAS CUALES ESTA CONECTADA A UN DIFERENTE CIRCUITO DMR. HAY 256 CIRCUITOS DRM QUE TIENEN 16 ENTRADAS Y 16 SALIDAS. UN CIRCUITO DRM ES UN DISPOSITIVO DE CONMUTACION DE ESPACIO FIJO QUE TIENE N ENTRADAS, N INTERVALOS DE TIEMPO Y N SALIDAS Y FUNCIONA CICLICAMENTE DE MODO QUE CADA ENTRADA VA A CADA SALIDA PARA 1 NOVENA PARTE DEL TIEMPO. LA ETAPA INTERIOR DEL CONMUTADOR ATD COMPRENDE 256 CONMUTADORES CENTRALES CADA UNO TIENE 16 ENTRADAS Y 16 SALIDAS. CADA CONMUTADOR DE FASE CENTRAL TIENE SUS 16 ENTRADAS CONECTADAS A 16 CIRCUITOS DRM DIFERENTES. LA CUARTA FASE DEL CONMUTADOR CONSISTE DE OTRA CONFIGURACION DE 256 CIRCUITOS DRM DE SALIDA CON CADA CONMUTADOR DE CENTRAL CONECTADO A 16 PUERTOS DE SALIDA DIFERENTES. LA CIRCUITERIA INTERNA DEL CONMUTADOR ATD FUNCIONA A 20 M BITS. CUANDO UNA CELULA DE DATOS SE RECIBE EN UN PUERTO DE ENTRADA SU DESTINA SE DERIVA DE UNA CABECERA CONECTADA A LA CELULA. LA CIRCUITERIA DE CONTROL PERMITE QUE EL PUERTO DE RECEPCION SOLICITE TRES DIRECCIONES PARA CONSULTAR TRES RUTAS POSIBLES A TRAVES DEL CONMUTADOR. LA POSIBILIDAD DE PROPORCIONAR ESTA SERIE DE PREGUNTAS ESTA DADA POR EL ESCALONAMIENTO DE VENTANAS A TRAVES DEL CUAL SE PUEDE COMUNICAR EL PUERTO DE SALIDA CON LOS CONMUTADORES CENTRALES. AUNQUE LOS FLUJOS DE DATOS SE RECIBEN ASINCRONAMENTE, EL FUNCIONAMIENTO DEL CONMUTADOR ATD ES SINCRONO. LA INCLUSION DESCRITA TIENE UNA SERIE DE VENTAJAS: EN PRIMER LUGAR EL DISEÑO DEL CONMUTADOR ATD ES SINCRONO, DE ESTE MODO PERMITE QUE DOS PLANOS SE EJECUTEN EN EL MODO SINCRONO DUAL PARA VERIFICAR LOS FALLOS. OTRA VENTAJA ES QUE EN EL CONMUTADOR ATDSE DESCRITO, LA DEMORA DE LAS CELULAS SE CONTRUYE DE TRES ELEMENTOS, UNA DEMORA FIJA QUE DEPENDE DE LOS NUMEROS DE PUERTO (0 HASTA 256 (MU)S), UNA DEMORA DE CONTENCION DE SALIDA PURAMENTE ATD (0 HASTA 105 (MU)S), TODOS LOS CONMUTADORES ATD TIENEN ESTO), Y UN MUY PEQUEÑA DEMORA DE SALIDA (0 HASTA 10 (MU)S).
