DENTRO DEL CILINDRO SE CONTIENE GAS A PRESION. UN CONTENEDOR RODEA AL CILINDRO. SE DEFINE UN ESPACIO ANULAR ENTRE EL CILINDRO Y EL CONTENEDOR. EL CILINDRO ESTA SUBDIVIDIDO POR EL VASTAGO DEL PISTON EN DOS CAMARAS DE TRABAJO. EL ESPACIO ANULAR ESTA SUBDIVIDIDO MEDIANTE UN ANILLO DE SEPARACION EN DOS SECCIONES ADYACENTES AXIALMENTE.
