Abstract

In a rotary plug valve, a frusto-conical plug 20 biassed away from its seat carries a seal 30 which surrounds the inlet 11 when the valve is closed a cam 33 permits movement of the plug away from the seat when the plug moves out of its closed position. As shown the cam 33 coacts with projections 61 on the plug to hold it against the seat in the closed position, and stops (39, 40 Figs 4,6) define the valve open and closed positions.
