Definitions

  • the container opening should be able to be closed with a cover as gas- and liquid-tight as possible, the cover being designed in particular as a so-called tamper-evident closure, i.e.
  • tamper-evident closure i.e.
  • U.S. 3,559,843 A discloses a cover according to the preamble of the present independent claims. Further examples of conventional covers are shown in FIG GB 1 212 270 A , GB 2 395 710 A and GB 845 457 A shown.
  • the object of the present invention is to create an alternative solution for a closure system with a tamper-evident sealing element, in particular a cover that is as gas- and water-tight as possible, which is suitable for as many types of containers as possible, and whose opening and closing mechanism is easy for the customer to understand and is to be actuated, and which can be manufactured as economically as possible in terms of material and costs.
  • the object is achieved by the cover defined in claim 1.
  • This is characterized by a so-called snap mechanism, in which the end wall can be deformed in a bistable manner between a first state that is curved in the plug-on direction and a second state that is curved against the plug-on direction Attachment of the cover to the container or another element to be closed by the cover is suitable.
  • the originality sealing element is realized in that a blocking element is attached to the cover or the container, which blocks a deformation of the end wall required for jumping between the two bistable states and / or prevents expansion sections at the edge portion of the cover from being necessary for the deformation of the end wall between the two to cause bistable states required change of the outer circumference of the cover.
  • the cover can only snap back and forth between the two bistable states after the sealing element has been removed.
  • the object is also achieved by the covers defined in claims 10 and 11. These are also characterized by the snap mechanism already mentioned, but realize the tamper-evident seal in that a grip element required to lift off the cover must first be brought into its functional position. A tamper-evident seal is broken and signals to the user that the cover is no longer in its original state.
  • the invention also includes a closure system formed from the cover according to the invention and the container with the opening to be closed.
  • the sealing element is preferably attached to the cover and / or the wall area via a perforation or material thinning that is easily recognizable from the outside.
  • the sealing element should be easily removable by hand when the container is opened for the first time, without the cover or the container being damaged in any other way when torn off.
  • the sealing element extends at least over such a large partial area of the end wall and / or the edge section provided with the expansion sections that the sealing element reliably prevents the deformation of the end wall or expansion of the expansion sections required for the cover to snap over.
  • the sealing element is preferably designed in a ring shape along the entire outer circumference of the cover and, in particular, is molded directly onto the outermost outer circumference of the cover.
  • the snap mechanism of the cover can be realized in that folds are formed on the edge section, which extend to the outermost outer edge of the cover when the sealing element is removed and, when the cover is snapped over, turn from its folded state into a Spread condition can stretch in order to achieve the desired enlargement of the outer circumference of the cover.
  • the snap mechanism is in the German patent application DE 10 2015 103 036 A1 described in more detail.
  • the folds can be produced from plastic in a particularly cost-effective manner using a so-called thermal process (also known as hot forming, deep drawing or vacuum deep drawing).
  • Thin films made of thermoplastics such as PET, PS and PP are particularly suitable as base materials.
  • they can also be produced, for example, by injection molding, which in particular allows more freedom in three-dimensional shaping and also allows the expansion sections to be produced with expansion grooves or folds formed by different material thicknesses.
  • the expansion sections can also be formed from a softer material component than the predominant remainder of the edge sections.
  • Such covers can be produced particularly well in a multi-component injection molding process and are in the German utility model application DE 20 2015 105 951 U1 described in more detail.
  • Preferred materials for the first (softer) component are: thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and thermoplastic urethane (TPU).
  • Preferred materials for the second (harder) component are: polycarbonate (PC), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and polystyrene (PS).
  • the edge section is reliably prevented in the original state from moving to the extent necessary for the snap mechanism by the originality sealing element, which is also referred to below in some exemplary embodiments as the seal ring expand or contract.
  • the snap function of the cover should only be activated after the sealing ring has been removed.
  • the closure element of the opening to be closed is generally referred to as a cover. If the clamping fastening of the cover engages the outside of the opening wall, the cover is referred to as a cap; on the other hand, if the cover clamps inside against the opening wall, it is referred to as a cover.
  • a cap 10 according to the first embodiment of the invention is shown, which is clamped on the outside of the wall 2 of an opening 1 to be closed of a container or another element to be closed by the cover.
  • the cap 10 has an end wall 11 of an essentially circular basic shape, on the circumferential edge of which an annular edge section 12 is formed.
  • the edge section 12 has a central section 17 running essentially axially, ie along the plug-on direction, and a lip section 18 running transversely thereto, ie in the radial direction.
  • On the middle section 17 are protruding radially inward Latching knobs 19 are formed, which are designed for a clamping engagement in an annular groove 3 on the outer circumference of the opening wall 2.
  • the cap material should have sufficient rigidity. According to the invention, this is achieved in the case of a cover with a substantially homogeneous wall thickness produced using the thermal process, in that stiffening ribs 13 are provided in the transition area between the end wall 11 and the edge section 12.
  • stiffening ribs 13 are provided in the transition area between the end wall 11 and the edge section 12.
  • the stiffening areas 13 can also be designed as areas of increased material thickness. In a multi-component injection molding process, these areas can also be formed using a harder material component.
  • the Figure 1a shows a cross section through the cap 10 in a peripheral section in which a stiffening area 13 is provided. However, the stiffening areas can only be present intermittently at some circumferential sections, while the transition area between the end wall 11 and the edge section 12 remains otherwise unstiffened.
  • a cylindrical grip element 15 (so-called grip dome) is also integrally formed on the end wall 11, on which the cap 10 can be gripped well and pulled off the opening 1 in the axial direction without tilting.
  • additional grip knobs 16 can be attached to a circumferential edge of the grip element 15, which increase the security against slipping.
  • the lip section 18 of the edge section 12 has a sealing ring 18a which can be separated by a material thinning or perforation 18b formed as a predetermined breaking point.
  • the sealing ring 18a is connected to the central section 17 via the material perforation 18b and is intended to prevent it (not shown in the cross section of the drawing - see however Figures 9 and 10 ) Can expand expansion sections in the middle section 17 when the handle dome 15 is pressed downwards.
  • it is important that the seal ring 18a does not contain any such expansion sections, i.e.
  • the cap 10 when the cap 10 is manufactured in a multi-component injection molding process, it consists at least predominantly and preferably consistently of a harder material component than the expansion sections or, when manufactured in a deep-drawing process, has no folds, which reach up to the outermost peripheral edge of the cover 10.
  • the cap 10 should only be able to deform into the second bistable state after removal of the sealing ring 18a, in which the end wall 11 snaps into a concave shape and the edge section 12 widens while maintaining an unchanged transition angle ⁇ .
  • the widening of the edge section 12 is only possible because the widening of the stretching sections is no longer prevented if the sealing ring 18a is missing.
  • the second embodiment of the closure cap 20 is described with reference to FIG Figures 2a-d explained.
  • the function and design of the end wall 21, the edge section 22, the stiffening areas 23, the grip dome 25 and the grip knobs 26 are analogous to that in FIG Figure 1 shown first embodiment and should not be explained again here.
  • the only difference to the first embodiment is the transition from the middle section 27 to the lip section 28.
  • This is shown in two variants, the one in FIG Figure 2c
  • the variant shown can be produced well in the thermoforming process, while that in the Figure 2b
  • the variant shown can be produced in the injection molding process, preferably in a multi-component injection molding process.
  • the middle section 27 runs in the cross section shown in such a way that it no longer merges at right angles into the lip section 28 (as in FIG Figure 1 ), but describes a radius of curvature which is caused by the formation of the expansion sections as folds or as bulges in the middle section 27.
  • the seal ring 28a has no expansion sections and only when the seal ring 28a is removed along the perforation 28b do the expansion grooves in the middle section 27 and the remaining lip section 28c up to the outermost Reach the outer edge of the cover 20.
  • the cap 20 when jumping into the concave bistable state of the Figure 2c expand in their edge section 22 so that the cap 20 can be removed from the opening 1 to be closed.
  • the remaining lip portion 28c can be useful when the cover 20 is not to be used as a cap but as a lid, as in FIG Figure 4 and 5 should be shown and explained in more detail.
  • FIG. 2c shows (analogous to Figure 1c ) the cap 20 in the open position with the seal ring 28a removed.
  • the Figures 3a and 3b show two preferred variants of the first exemplary embodiment of the cap 10, which relate to simplifications in the manufacturing technology.
  • the seal ring 18a runs in a downwardly angled shape.
  • Such an angular section can be produced particularly well using deep-drawing technology and has (like the original variant according to FIG Figure 1 ) the advantage that the perforation 18b between the sealing ring 18a and the middle section 17 can be made from above using a punching tool after the deep-drawing process.
  • the sealing ring 18a runs at an angle of about 45 ° to the middle section 17 running in the plug-on direction.
  • the perforation 18b between the middle section 17 and the sealing ring 18a can be produced by attaching a punching tool that encompasses the cap 10 from the side.
  • punching processes are customary and easy to use, especially when manufacturing by injection molding.
  • the Figure 4a shows the third embodiment in which the cover is no longer designed as a cap clamping from the outside, but rather as a cover 30 seated on the inside in the opening wall 2.
  • the concave bistable state with the larger outside diameter is then the closed state, while the convex bistable state with the smaller outside diameter is the open state.
  • the transition angle ⁇ between the end wall 31 and the edge section 32 is no longer larger here, but smaller than 90 °. Otherwise, the function of the end wall 31, the edge section 32, the stiffening area 33, the middle section 37 and the lip section 38 with perforation 38b and sealing ring 38a is exactly the same as in the second embodiment of FIG Figure 2 and should therefore not be explained in more detail here.
  • the wall section 2 of the container opening 1 does not have an external circumferential groove, but an internal groove 4 which ends in an inwardly projecting shoulder 5 which is intended to prevent the lid 30 from entering the opening 1 falls into it.
  • the handle element 35 is no longer designed as a handle dome, but as a bow handle. Depending on the manufacturing technique, you can choose between the different handle shapes and the desired requirements for the handle element can be freely selected.
  • the lip section 38c remaining along the perforation 38b after the sealing ring 38a has been torn off can spread into the inner groove 4 and thus effect a secure fit of the cover 30 on the opening 1 to be closed.
  • the handle 35 is in the in Figure 4a shown closed position so far within the opening 1 that an unintentional opening by an impact on the handle 35 is very unlikely.
  • Figure 5 shows a fourth embodiment of the invention, in which the cover 40 has a significantly flatter shape than in the embodiments described so far.
  • the transition angle ⁇ between the end wall 41 and the edge section 42 is no longer in the vicinity of 90 ° but approximately 160 ° to 170 °.
  • the function of the end wall 41, the edge section 42, the stiffening area 43 and the grip element 35 is the same as in the third exemplary embodiment Figure 4 and should therefore not be explained in more detail here.
  • Figure 5 explains on the basis of two illustrative examples how the seal ring 38a, which is only shown schematically in FIG. 4, can be removed.
  • the Figure 5 illustrates two modifications in a single schematic representation.
  • the sealing ring 48a ends in a tab 48A protruding from the inner groove 4, by means of which it can be gripped from above and removed along the perforation 48b.
  • This variant is essentially based on the one in Figure 4 illustrated basic principle and differs from this only in the length and the spatial orientation of the seal ring 48a.
  • the Figure 5a Another variant is shown, which differs fundamentally from the variants and exemplary embodiments shown so far and is explained in more detail below.
  • the enlarged section D of the Figure 5b shows that the seal ring 48a is essentially as in the Figure 4 is formed on the radially outermost edge of the lid 40 and extends so far upwards out of the container through a bent extension in the form of a grip tab 48A that is bent, for example, during the assembly of the lid 40 on the container, that it easily touches the perforation to remove the sealing ring 48a 48b can be separated from the edge section 42. Only then can the ones formed in the edge section 42 develop Expansion grooves (not shown in the section shown here - but see Fig. 9 ) expand or contract when jumping between the two bistable states of the end wall 41.

  • the cover 70 shown has an end wall 71 of essentially circular basic shape, on the circumferential edge of which an annular edge section 72 is formed.
  • the Figure 9a shows a partially sectioned side view. In the left half of the figure, the cover 70 can be seen from the side, while it is cut open on the inside in the right half so that the rear inside of the cover 70 can be seen.
  • the lid 70 is shown in its open position, ie the end wall 71 is, as in FIG Figure 7a seen in their convex, upwardly domed bistable state. If the end wall 71 snaps into its concavely downwardly curved state (ie in the plug-on direction), the outer circumference of the edge section 72 increases so that a radial end of the edge section 72 can engage with an inner groove 4 in the wall area 2 of the opening 1 to be closed .
  • the cover material should have sufficient rigidity. This is achieved in that the transition between end wall 71 and edge section 72 has a greater material thickness than the central region of end wall 71, at least in partial sections, but preferably over the entire circumference.
  • the edge section 72 ends both in its expansion sections 74a and in its intermediate sections 74b in a circumferential locking ring 79 which is also formed from a softer material component, preferably the same as the expansion sections 74a.

  • the cap 80 is shown in its open position, ie the end wall 81 is as in FIG Figure 10a to see, in their concave downward (ie in the direction of attachment) curved bistable state. • stiffening ribs 83 are provided in the transition area between end wall 81 and edge section 82. These stiffening ribs 83 run from the radially outer area of the end wall 81 radially outwards and extend into the middle section 87 of the edge area 82. They thus represent, according to the principle of the bead, an elevation or depression running transversely to the material plane, which stiffen the cover 80 in the area of the angle ⁇ creates.
  • the folds of the edge portion 82 created in this way create expansion grooves 84a which are similar in structure to webbed feet and enable a desired increase in the outer circumference or diameter of the cover 80 between the two bistable states. With these approximately semicircular openings 84c, the edge section 82 can actually “unfold” in the concave folded down state and enlarge its outer circumference compared to the convex folded up state.
