Abstract

845,457. Snap-closures. SHIRES, F. Oct. 22, 1958 [Oct. 24, 1957], No. 33313/57. Class 125(3). A polythene snapclosure for a can or jar having a rolled or flanged edge has a domed portion 1 and a dependent skirt 2 with an internal groove 4 so that the skirt makes contact with the rolled or flanged edge of the container 8 along two circumferential lines, A, B with a space 10 between them, there being a further space 11 between the inner surface of the lower part 5 of the skirt and the container wall. The domed head allows the skirt to be expanded by digital pressure in both application and removal, a tab, Fig. 3, (not shown), being provided on one side of the skirt to assist removal.
