Definitions

  • the invention relates to a tent according to claim 1 comprising a supporting frame, a tent skin supported on the supporting frame and a tent floor.
  • Tents are mobile dwellings that can be set up and dismantled with relatively little effort and are used as temporary and transportable buildings. They have a wide range of applications, for example as camping tents, as medical tents for the mobile treatment of patients or as mobile storage rooms for equipment.
  • Tents have to meet various requirements, such as protection from the elements, especially wind, rain or snow, protection from light, privacy, breathability with a water-repellent outer shell, small space requirement when disassembled, low weight, easy assembly, independence from the ground conditions and stability when set up. Usually, attempts are made to optimize several of these requirements at the same time.
  • Tents consist of a supporting structure and an outer skin, which can be separate from the supporting structure or firmly connected to it. In most cases, the tent skin and the supporting structure have the same basic shape. When setting up the tent, the tent skin - if it is not already connected to the supporting structure - is spread out over the supporting structure and then secured and stretched to the ground using guy ropes and pegs, for example.
  • the floor of a tent is usually made of a plastic tarpaulin, which can be made in one piece with the inner skin or the outer skin of the tent.
  • the floor serves to separate and insulate the interior of the tent from the ground on which the tent is set up.
  • special precautions must be taken to create a suitable lying surface or base inside the tent. For this purpose, it is usually necessary to take along special bases, e.g. made of foamed plastic material or air mattresses, which increases the weight and volume of the ballast to be carried.
  • the tent floor is also usually used to attach the tent to the ground.
  • the use of pegs and guy ropes causes problems.
  • the pegs have to be driven into the ground and find a hold there. For this, a floor with a suitable strength is required. If the ground is too hard, such as asphalt or stone, the pegs cannot be driven into the ground. If the ground is too soft, such as sandy ground, the pegs have little hold, so the tent cannot be stretched.
  • Special tent designs allow them to be attached to motor vehicles, such as caravans. This is usually used to create a canopy or awning and thereby increase the usable space of the caravan.
  • Roof tents have also become popular, which are tents that can be set up on the roof of a vehicle. In order to provide sufficient sleeping space, roof tents are usually mounted on the roof of the vehicle in such a way that they are connected to part of the floor area above the roof protrudes. The disadvantage here is the structural effort required to support the area of the tent that protrudes above the roof. In addition, the support structure increases the weight and pack size of the tent.
  • the present invention therefore aims to improve a tent so that the above-mentioned disadvantages can be overcome.
  • the invention aims to create a tent which is characterized by a low weight and a small pack size and which can be set up on any surface with good insulation and waterproofing.
  • the invention in a tent of the type mentioned at the outset essentially consists in that the tent floor is formed by an inflatable body which is plate-like when inflated, the top and bottom layers of which consist of a flexible material and are connected to one another by a large number of connecting threads or fibers and are held at a maximum normal distance from one another when inflated, wherein the connecting threads or fibers are provided in such a density that the top and bottom layers each form a substantially flat surface when inflated, so that the excess pressure prevailing inside the body does not cause any bulges, and wherein the inflatable floor is connected to the supporting frame and/or the outer skin of the tent by detachable connecting means or that the supporting frame and/or the tent skin are permanently and inseparably are connected to the inflatable floor.
  • the tent When inflated, such a floor forms a dimensionally stable plate-shaped element, so that the tent has a flat inner floor surface even on uneven ground, which can be used immediately and without an additional bed base.
  • the inflatable plate-shaped floor body has in particular such a dimensional stability or rigidity that it is also possible to arrange the tent on a vehicle roof without any problems, in that a part of the floor protrudes over the edge of the vehicle roof when inflated and - even without the provision of a structure supporting the protruding area - can bear loads without there being any fear of the protruding area buckling or the like.
  • the floor When not inflated, however, the floor is not dimensionally stable, since the top and bottom layers of the inflatable body are made of a flexible material that can be folded together so that the floor together can be stowed with the other tent elements within the outline of the vehicle roof.
  • the required dimensional stability and rigidity of the inflatable floor body is achieved by connecting the top and bottom layers with a large number of connecting threads or fibers and keeping them at a maximum normal distance from each other when inflated.
  • the top and bottom layers are preferably held parallel to each other by the threads or fibers, so that a plate-shaped floor construction is actually created.
  • the threads or fibers run through the air-filled cavity of the body and extend between the top and bottom layers, preferably in a direction perpendicular to the layers.
  • the fibers or threads are provided in such a density that the top and bottom layers each form a substantially flat surface when inflated, so that the excess pressure inside the body does not cause any bulges.
  • the fibers or threads are preferably evenly distributed over the surface of the top or bottom layer.
  • the flexible material is designed to absorb an overpressure inside the inflatable tent floor of 0.3 - 1 bar, in particular 0.3 - 0.5 bar.
  • an overpressure results in the floor body having a particularly high degree of dimensional stability or rigidity.
  • Inflatable hollow bodies whose top and bottom surfaces are connected by interwoven threads or fibers are also referred to as drop stitch constructions, which are mainly used for water sports equipment, namely so-called stand up paddling (SUP) boards.
  • the principle of the drop stitch construction is based on connecting the top and bottom layers of the body with vertical connecting fibers and keeping them in the desired shape even under high internal pressure.
  • the interwoven fibers form a fabric inside the inflatable body that is very tear-resistant and dimensionally stable due to the large number of knots and can withstand particularly high loads, but can still be folded up compactly when not inflated.
  • the inflatable floor designed according to the invention has a number of advantageous properties.
  • the floor makes the separate supports that would otherwise be required for floor areas that protrude above the vehicle roof obsolete, resulting in a considerable saving in weight and a reduction in the pack size.
  • the weight saving plays a particularly important role in off-road use.
  • the floor also provides insulation from the cold ground.
  • the inflatable floor allows the tent to be used not only on vehicle roofs, but also on vehicle loading areas and trailers or on any surface, such as earth, forest or rock, where uneven ground can be easily leveled out.
  • the floor provides a barrier to water ingress and can be used on very wet surfaces as well as in heavy rain.
  • the height of the inflated floor effectively prevents water from entering from below.
  • the floor is also buoyant, so it can also be used on bodies of water.
  • the inflatable floor can preferably be equipped with a heater that heats the air inside the inflated floor.
  • the tent can be provided with floor heating.
  • Heating filaments e.g. made of carbon
  • the flexible material of the top and bottom layers is a plastic material, such as PVC.
  • a plastic material such as PVC.
  • Such a material is characterized by high tear resistance.
  • the top and/or bottom layers can be provided with a layer of foam or another inflatable body on their respective outsides in order to improve lying comfort.
  • the threads or fibers that connect the top and bottom layers of the inflatable body are preferably made of plastic.
  • the inflatable floor can be designed as a separate element to which the supporting structure and/or the outer skin of the tent is or will be connected by detachable connecting means.
  • the connecting means can include Velcro fasteners, zippers, carabiners, a hook-eye connection, or the like.
  • the supporting structure and/or the tent skin can be permanently and inseparably connected to the inflatable floor.
  • a preferred embodiment provides that the inflatable floor is connected to the supporting structure at its edges, in particular glued, welded, sewn or detachably connected.
  • the support frame is formed at least partially, but preferably completely, by at least one inflatable body.
  • the support frame has at least one inflatable tube, in particular one that is angled or bent in multiple directions.
  • the fact that the tent's supporting structure is inflatable ensures that it can be set up and taken down quickly and easily.
  • the inflatable tube preferably has a two- or multi-layer structure.
  • An inner body forms at least one inflatable chamber and preferably consists of made of a material that stretches well, in particular a material with a stretching capacity of at least 150%.
  • the inner body preferably consists of a polyurethane tube.
  • a durable, abrasion-resistant outer tube is arranged around the inflatable inner body, to which the inner body fits tightly when inflated.
  • the material of the outer tube is preferably designed to be tensile and preformed according to the desired shape of the support structure.
  • the outer tube preferably consists of a fabric, in particular a fabric made of polyamide or polyester, such as Cordura ® .
  • the design of the supporting structure as an inflatable body also has the advantage that the tent has a lower overall weight and can be set up by a single person.
  • the support frame is formed from a single tube that is angled or bent several times when inflated and is preferably self-contained.
  • the single tube is preferably shaped in such a way that it forms a self-contained body that has neither an end nor a beginning.
  • the formation of the support frame from a self-contained, inflatable tube leads to an extremely stable and rigid construction when inflated, whereby the tube, in the case of a multi-layer structure in particular its outer tube, is pre-formed in such a way that the desired shape of the support frame is automatically established when inflated.
  • a particularly advantageous and stable form of the support frame made of a self-contained body is achieved according to a preferred development of the invention in that the tubular support frame has at least two U-shaped pipe sections with the same orientation of the U-shape and at least two preferably straight connecting pipe sections which connect the ends of the free legs of the U-shape with each other.
  • a support structure designed in this way allows for extremely flexible use of the support structure, whereby the support structure can either be set up in such a way that the connecting pipe sections form the floor pipes of the support structure, or in such a way that the connecting legs of the U-shape of the U-shaped pipe sections form the floor pipes of the support structure.
  • a preferred development provides that the planes spanned by the U-shaped pipe sections are arranged at an angle to one another and, in particular, diverge upwards, starting from the inflatable floor.
  • the supporting structure therefore requires a relatively small footprint and supports a protruding area of the tent skin at the top, so that a large area relative to the required footprint can be covered by the tent skin. This is particularly advantageous, for example, when the tent is designed as a roof tent that is arranged on the roof of a vehicle, as this allows the tent to have a large span.
  • the at least one inflatable tube of the support frame can consist of a plastic, in particular polymer material. This enables a particularly simple and firm connection to the plastic material of the inflatable floor.
  • the inflatable tube of the support frame can have a connecting tab running in the longitudinal direction of the tube, which is connected to the inflatable floor, in particular glued or welded.
  • the air-fillable cavity of the floor and the air-fillable cavity of the support structure tube are preferably not connected to each other. This allows the Pressure level should be adjusted according to the respective requirements, whereby the overpressure in the inflatable floor is preferably higher than in the supporting structure.
  • the supporting structure can be directly connected to the inflatable floor on the one hand and to the tent skin on the other.
  • the tent skin is connected, in particular glued, welded or sewn, to the supporting structure, in particular to at least one inflatable tube of the supporting structure.
  • the bottom layer of the inflatable floor has fastening means for fastening the floor to a surface, such as a vehicle roof.
  • the fastening means have at least one connecting element, in particular a connecting plate, at several fastening points.
  • the invention relates to the use of a tent consisting at least partially of inflatable elements, in particular a tent according to the first aspect of the invention, on a vehicle roof.
  • the inflatable floor of the tent is attached to the vehicle roof, a roof rack or roof rails.
  • the air is released from the inflatable floor and, if applicable, the inflatable support frame for transport and storage purposes and the tent is folded up, whereby the tent in the folded state preferably does not protrude beyond the edges of the vehicle roof.
  • the floor when inflated, protrudes above the vehicle roof on at least one side of the vehicle.
