Description

Domaine techniqueTechnical area

The present invention relates to the field of watchmaking. It relates, more particularly, to a watch comprising a box housing a watch movement, and an element articulated on the box by means of a hinge with indexed positions. The hinge defines an axis of rotation. The hinge comprises a first part secured to the box, and a second part secured to the element. The first and second parts are engaged one inside the other and are movable in rotation relative to each other along the axis of rotation of the hinge.

Etat de la techniqueState of the art

There already exists in the state of the art, timepieces as mentioned above. For example, some parts have two movements, each arranged in a box, the two boxes being connected to each other via an indexed hinge.

The hinges generally used to make this kind of part, include a ball pawl, housed in the middle of one of the boxes. The pawl is arranged so that the stroke of its ball is perpendicular to the axis of the hinge. The ball is able to take place in housings formed at the periphery of the other box, on a portion concentric with the axis of the hinge. When the ball is engaged in one of the housings, the relative position of the two boxes is indexed, that is to say that it is stabilized in a predefined position. An example of a similar system is disclosed by the document CH697850 . In this variant, a movable piston housed in the housing bears against the periphery of the movable part of the hinge, the indexing being effected by the cooperation of this piston with one or more flats provided on the hinge for this purpose.

Such a hinge can affect the aesthetics of the timepiece, because it is bulky and requires having a box large enough to place the ball pawl there.

It is also noted that ball pawls are also known in the document. US2636338 for locking the free end of a hinged cover. This system comprises a spring system tending to keep the cover in the open position, in which position the cover abuts against the housing under the effect of said spring.

Divulgation de l'inventionDisclosure of invention

A main aim of the present invention is to propose an alternative system, simpler and less bulky than the systems of the prior art, making it possible to obtain indexing between a box and an element articulated on the box, such as a second box, a decorative element or a cover.

To this end, the present invention relates more particularly to a watch comprising a box housing a timepiece movement, and an element articulated on the box by means of a hinge with indexed positions, said hinge defining an axis of rotation and comprising:
  • a first integral part of the box, and
  • a second part secured to the element,
said parts being movable in rotation relative to each other along the axis of rotation of the hinge,
characterized in that one of the parts comprises a rod arranged along said axis and in that the other part is engaged on said rod, and
characterized in that, to define said indexed positions, the hinge further comprises an elastic member interposed between said parts and carried by one of them, the first part comprising first cavities and the second part comprising second cavities , said first and second cavities being arranged so as to be able to cooperate with one another so as to together form a housing when they are positioned facing one another, and
in that the elastic member is arranged so as to
  • be in the rest position in a housing formed by the cooperation of the cavities of the first and second parts, when the hinge is in an indexed position,
  • be forced into a housing formed by the cavities of only one of the first and second parts, when the hinge is between two indexed positions.

Thanks to these characteristics, a particularly space-saving indexing system is obtained, simple to implement and without affecting the aesthetics of the watch, compared to the same watch which would be provided with a traditional hinge, without indexing.

Preferably, provision may be made for the elastic member to be of the clip spring type having elastic branches connected to each other by a base, said branches being symmetrical by rotation about the axis of rotation of the hinge and being capable of being deformed in a plane containing the branch and the axis of rotation, and in that said cavities are oblong and oriented parallel to the axis of rotation of the hinge.

In a preferred alternative, the first part secured to the box comprises the rod and the second part secured to the element comprises a female portion of the hinge, cooperating with the rod.

Provision may be made for the first part to include an arm and the male portion to project from said arm, the base of the clip being positioned in a housing which the arm comprises and the branches of the clip are positioned at least partially in the cavities. formed at the periphery of the male portion.

Other secondary features of the invention are proposed in the dependent claims.

Mode(s) de réalisation de l'inventionMode (s) of Carrying Out the Invention

We have represented on the figure 1 , the essential elements of a watch according to the invention. This watch comprises a box 10 housing a watch movement, and an element 12 articulated on the box 10 by means of a hinge with indexed positions. For better visibility of the hinge, the case 10 of the watch was only very partially represented at the figure 3 . The middle of the box 10 has a recess of complementary shape, so as to house the hinge in an aesthetic manner in the recess, that is to say by essentially masking its different parts.

La portion mâle de la charnière s'étend depuis le deuxième bras 14b, parallèlement au premier bras 14a.More specifically, the hinge comprises a first part 14 shown in the figure 4 , which in this case comprises the male portion of the hinge, and which is shaped to be fixed to the middle part of the box 10. In a nonlimiting manner, this first part 14 can have a T shape, with a first arm 14a , intended to be in support and fixed to the watch case 10, and a second arm 14b disposed orthogonally on the first arm 14a. The male portion of the hinge extends from the second arm 14b, parallel to the first arm 14a.

May be provided on the first arm 14a, means for positioning the first part 14 with reference to the box 10, for example holes 16 or threads.

The male portion comprises a rod 18, of essentially circular section, in order to allow the rotation of a second part 20 of the hinge. At its periphery, the rod 18 receives first cavities 22, preferably of oblong shape, arranged parallel to the axis of the hinge. These first cavities 22 can be extended so as to cross the second arm 14b of the T, and each having a through opening 14c, the role of which will appear later.

The second part 20 of the hinge is particularly illustrated on the figure 5 . It is integral with the element 12, articulated on the box 10. The second part 20 of the hinge comprises an ear 20a capable of being disposed in a plane perpendicular to the general plane of the second part 20. This ear 20a is pierced with a through opening 24, forming the female portion of the hinge and dimensioned to adapt to the male portion of the first part 14. The second part 20 of the hinge can therefore be engaged on the first part 14, allowing the rotation of one of the parts relative to the other, along the axis of rotation of the hinge.

Naturellement, le dégagement autour de la portion mâle et le dimensionnement de l'oreille 20a autour de l'ouverture 24 permettent le déplacement relatif de la première partie 14 par rapport à la deuxième 20.Naturally, the clearance around the male portion and the dimensioning of the ear 20a around the opening 24 allow the relative displacement of the first part 14 relative to the second 20.

At the wall of the opening 24, the female portion receives second cavities 26, preferably of oblong shape, arranged parallel to the axis of the hinge.

To define the indexed positions, the hinge further comprises an elastic member 30 interposed between the first 14 and the second 20 parts. More particularly, according to the example, the elastic member 30 is carried by the first part 14 and is housed in particular in the first cavities 22 of the rod 18.

De manière préférée, le ressort agrafe comprend deux branches 30a.In the preferred embodiment illustrated in the figures, the elastic member 30 is of the clip spring type ( Fig. 6 ) having elastic branches 30a connected together by a base. The branches are symmetrical by rotation about the axis of rotation of the hinge and are capable of being deformed in a deformation plane containing the branch and the axis of rotation. The cavities 22 and 26 are oblong and oriented parallel to the axis of rotation of the hinge, in order to receive the branches 30a of the elastic member 30. Preferably, the clip spring comprises two branches 30a.

The base of the clip spring is disposed integrally in a housing that comprises the second arm 14b, at the level of the through openings 14c so that the branches 30a come out of the first part 14 taking place, at least partially, in the first cavities 22 of the male portion. The branches 30a are kept in translation along the axis of rotation of the hinge but they are liable to deform in the above-mentioned deformation plane, passing through the first cavities 22.

The elastic member 30, and in particular its branches 30a, is arranged so as to:
  • be in the rest position in a housing formed by the cooperation of the first cavities 22 and the second cavities 26, when the hinge is in an indexed position,
  • be constrained in a housing formed by the cavities of only one of the first 14 and second 20 parts, when the hinge is between two indexed positions.

So, as we can see on the figure 5 , the hinge fitted to a watch according to the invention operates in the following manner. In the indexed positions, which correspond to predefined relative positions for the box 10 and the movable element 12, for example a closed position and an open position (at approximately 90 °), the first cavities 22 of the first part 14 and the second cavities 26 of the second part 20 are arranged opposite one another and together form the housing in which takes place the branches 30a of the elastic member 30. In this position, the branches 30a are positioned at interface between the first 14 and the second part 20, at least partially in the first cavities 22 and in the second cavities 26. In this way, the branches 30a of the elastic member 30 oppose the free relative rotation of a part of the hinge relative to the other.

By exerting sufficient force on the box 10 or on the movable element 12, tending to obtain a relative rotation of one with respect to the other, a user indirectly exerts a stress on the branches 30a. These deform elastically as they approach each other in the deformation plane, according to the arrows F1 of the figure 3 . The first cavities 22 of the first part 14 are dimensioned so that the branches 30a can take their place there entirely, thus leaving free, apart from friction, the relative rotation of the first 14 and second 20 parts, around the axis of the hinge. In other words, the depth of the first cavities is greater than the section of the branches 30a, taken in the plane of deformation of the branches. The user can then maneuver the movable element 12, until reaching the next indexed position, in which the elastic member 30 relaxes and takes place again at the interface of the first 14 and second 20 parts.

The stiffness of the elastic member 30 is preferably sufficient for the indexed positions to be stable, that is to say that the weight of the watch or of the movable element 12, possibly with the inertia of a displacement moderate, fails to get the elastic member 30 out of the housing formed by the cavities of the first 14 and second 20 parts.

To favor the stressing of the branches 30a of the elastic member 30 and avoid hard spots or blockages, it is advantageous to provide that the female portion comprises a conical portion 24a on the side of the second arm 14b of the first part 14, the diameter of the conical portion 24a decreasing away from said second arm 14b. Thus, the output from the indexed positions is smoother, and the actuation of the box 10 or of the movable element 12 between two indexed positions is also more flexible, since the friction involved in these movements is limited to the truncated cone of the conical portion 24a.

In the embodiment illustrated as an example, the male portion comprises two cavities 22 diametrically opposite, and the female portion comprises four cavities 26, diametrically opposite in pairs, and thus forming pairs. The number of pairs of diametrically opposite cavities defines the number n of indexed positions.

Those skilled in the art can adapt the content of this description to a mobile element 12 chosen from the following elements: a cover, a decorative element or a second watch case. Without particular difficulty, we can also have two mobile elements, relative to a central box 10, the movable elements being arranged opposite the opposite faces of the box 10, that is to say one on the back side and the other dial side.

The hinge principle incorporating an indexing system, as proposed above can be applied by implementing a pair of hinges, arranged so that their respective axes are aligned or at least parallel. By pair of hinges is meant two separate hinges, implementing two separate male parts. Preferably, the indexed positions of each hinge are provided to correspond to the same relative positions of the box 10 and the movable element 12, but they can also be offset angularly, in order to offer more intermediate positions, without being dependent on the difficulties linked to the limited space available at the interface of the first and second parts to multiply the number of cavities.

In such a case, for mounting, the hinges can be mounted separately on the movable element 12 and then fix them respectively on the box 10.

The principle can also be applied to a double hinge, that is to say with two male portions extending on either side of the arm of the first element 12, the two male portions being aligned. We can then adapt the arm so that the spring members are housed there by its free end for example. For the assembly of the elements in this configuration, provision may be made for having two separate movable parts, which can be assembled separately on the male portions.

Dans ce cas, les paires de deuxièmes cavités 26 définissant le nombre de positions indexées, sont disposées sur la portion mâle, et les premières cavités 22 dans lesquelles les branches de l'organe élastique 30 sont logées entre deux positions indexées, sont celles de la deuxième partie 20.Particularly for the configuration which has just been mentioned, but also in general, provision may be made for having an inverted construction, that is to say having the elastic member 30 mounted on the second part 20, with the elastic member 30 which deforms by deviating between two indexed positions, the elastic member being prestressed by pinching. In this case, the pairs of second cavities 26 defining the number of indexed positions are arranged on the male portion, and the first cavities 22 in which the branches of the elastic member 30 are housed between two indexed positions, are those of the second part 20.

Thus, a watch is provided with a box 10 and a mobile element 12 articulated on the box by means of a hinge, making it possible to obtain indexed positions between the box 10 and the mobile element 12 in a particularly advantageous manner. , with only an elastic member 30 interposed between the usual elements of a hinge. The teaching of this description, given by way of nonlimiting example, may be adapted to the needs of those skilled in the art, without however departing from the scope of the invention as defined by the claims.
