- Figures 3 and 4 as the top is lifted up the first, second and intermediate bows 59, 60, 50 extend outward and provide folding of the top material managing the material and carrying the material in a manner away from the folding mechanisms of the top. Very little if any manual management by the operator is necessary when folding the sunroof portion 24 of the top.
- Lift assist mechanism 74 includes a first gas cylinder 76 and second gas cylinder 78 including respective first 80 and second 82 actuation shafts received in first 84 and second 86 compressed air assist type pneumatic cylinder bodies.
- the gas struts 76, 78 which are connected in force opposition between said fourth fabric assist linkage 70 and said side rail 28 such that one of the gas cylinders 76 is compressed when the sunroof 24 is down and the other of the gas cylinders 78 is extended.
- the sunroof 24 is opened the force in the compressed gas cylinder 76 applies force to the linkage 70 assisting the sunroof in an opening direction.
- the cylinders 76, 78 are attached to the 'U' shaped side rails 28, 30 by way of lost motion arrangements 88, 90.
- the lost motion arrangements include slots 92 and 94 on either side of the U shaped channel at each location.
- Bushing members 96, 98 and 100 and 102 are provided to slide in the slots 92, 94.
- the cylinders 76 and 78 are connected between these bushing members 96, 98 and 100, 102, respectively. This provides lost motion during the initial opening and closing actions of the sunroof. Referring now to Figure 5 , with the sunroof 24 fully open the cylinder 78 is fully compressed and the cylinder 76 is fully extended and has been pulled to the left side of the lost motion slot 92.
- the cylinders are forced to opposite sides of the lost motion slots 92 and 94 such that one cylinder provides dampening and the other provides assist force as shown in Figure 6 .

Claims (10)
- Ensemble cadre et capote souple (10) pour un véhicule comprenant un cadre de pare-brise (14) muni d'éléments latéraux (16, 18) qui s'étendent à partir de celui-ci et un élément transversal (20) raccordant les éléments latéraux essentiellement adjacent à l'arrière du compartiment conducteur/passager, ledit ensemble cadre et capote souple comprenant :une paire de rails latéraux (28, 30) fonctionnellement fixés auxdits éléments latéraux dudit véhicule ;une partie capote souple de toit ouvrant pivotant (24) incluant une paire de bras de pivotement (36, 38) raccordés en pivotement auxdits rails latéraux, un pivotement de la partie capote souple de toit ouvrant pivotant déplaçant ladite capote souple entre une position fermée et une position ouverte ;un élément arc avant (44) fonctionnement raccordé audits bras de pivotement et conçu pour une fixation détachable audit cadre de pare-brise pour l'ouverture et la fermeture de ladite partie capote souple de toit ouvrant pivotant ;un élément arc arrière (66) fonctionnement raccordé à ladite paire de rails latéraux ;un élément arc intermédiaire (50), ledit élément arc intermédiaire étant raccordé de manière articulée entre chacun desdits rails latéraux (28, 30) et desdits bras de pivotement (36, 38) par le biais d'un premier bras de liaison (52) et d'un deuxième bras de liaison (54), un desdits bras de liaison (52) étant fonctionnellement raccordé audit bras de pivotement (36) et une extrémité périphérique dudit élément arc intermédiaire (50) et l'autre desdits bras de liaison (54) étant fonctionnellement raccordés audit rail latéral (28) ;un deuxième élément arc d'aide au tissu (60) raccordé de manière articulée pour un déploiement entre ledit élément arc intermédiaire et ledit élément arc arrière au moyen d'une troisième liaison d'aide au tissu pivotante (68) et d'une quatrième liaison d'aide au tissu (70), ladite troisième liaison d'aide au tissu (68) étant raccordée audit un bras de liaison desdits premier (52) et deuxième (54) bras de liaison et ladite quatrième liaison d'aide au tissu (70) étant raccordée en pivotement audit rail latéral (28, 30) ; caractérisé parun mécanisme d'aide au levage (74) comprenant un premier et un deuxième cylindre à gaz (76, 78) incluant un premier et un deuxième arbre d'actionnement respectif (80, 82) reçus dans un premier et un deuxième corps de cylindre qui sont raccordés en opposition de force entre ladite quatrième liaison d'aide au tissu (70) et ledit rail latéral (28, 30) de telle sorte qu'un desdits cylindres de gaz (76, 78) soit comprimé lorsque ladite capote souple est abaissée et l'autre desdits cylindres de gaz (76, 78) soit étendu, lorsque ladite capote souple est ouverte, la force dans le cylindre de gaz comprimé appliquant une force à ladite quatrième liaison d'aide au tissu (70) qui aide ladite capote souple dans une direction d'ouverture et ledit autre cylindre étant comprimé, et, lors de la fermeture de ladite capote souple, le cylindre alors comprimé fournissant une aide de force pour la fermeture dudit ensemble capote souple.
- Ensemble cadre et capote souple (10) selon la revendication 1, comprenant en outre un premier élément arc d'aide au tissu (59) raccordé de manière articulée entre ledit arc avant et ledit arc intermédiaire au moyen d'une première liaison d'aide à l'arc (62) fixée en pivotement audit bras de pivotement (36) et une deuxième liaison d'aide à l'arc (64) fixée audit un bras de liaison desdits premier et deuxième bras de liaison pour ledit arc intermédiaire.
- Ensemble cadre et capote souple (10) selon la revendication 2, dans lequel ladite première liaison d'aide à l'arc (62) est fixée en pivotement audit bras de pivotement et ladite deuxième liaison d'aide à l'arc (64) est fixée audit premier bras de liaison dudit arc intermédiaire (50).
- Ensemble cadre et capote souple (10) selon la revendication 1, dans lequel ladite troisième liaison d'aide au tissu pivotante (68) est fixée en pivotement audit deuxième bras de liaison et ladite quatrième liaison d'aide au tissu est fixée audit rail latéral.
- Ensemble cadre et capote souple (10) selon la revendication 2, comprenant en outre un tissu de capote souple (72) attribué à au moins un élément parmi ledit élément arc avant (44), ledit premier élément arc d'aide au tissu (59), ledit élément arc intermédiaire (50), un deuxième élément arc d'aide au tissu (60) et ledit élément arc arrière (66) de telle sorte que lorsque ladite partie capote souple est levée, le tissu de la capote souple soit géré et plié par lesdits premier et deuxième éléments arcs d'aide au tissu d'une manière pliée en accordéon.
- Ensemble cadre et capote souple (10) selon la revendication 5, comprenant en outre un tissu de capote souple (72) attribué audit élément arc avant (44), un premier élément arc d'aide au tissu (59), ledit élément arc intermédiaire (50), un deuxième élément arc d'aide au tissu (60) et ledit élément arc arrière (66) de telle sorte que lorsque ladite partie capote souple est levée, le tissu de la capote souple soit géré et plié par lesdits premier et deuxième éléments arcs d'aide au tissu d'une manière pliée en accordéon.
- Ensemble cadre et capote souple (10) selon la revendication 5, dans lequel lesdits premier et deuxième cylindres de gaz (76, 78) sont fixés auxdits rails latéraux (28, 30) au moyen d'agencements de mouvement à vide comprenant des éléments bagues (96, 98, 100, 102) prévus pour glisser dans des fentes (92, 94) formées dans les rails latéraux, lesdits premier et deuxième cylindres de gaz étant raccordés entre des éléments bagues respectifs pour fournir un mouvement à vide pendant les actions d'ouverture et de fermeture initiales de ladite capote souple.
- Ensemble cadre et capote souple (10) selon la revendication 1, dans lequel lesdits premier et deuxième cylindres de gaz sont fixés auxdits rails latéraux (28, 30) au moyen d'agencements de mouvement à vide comprenant des éléments bagues (96, 98, 100, 102) prévus pour glisser dans des fentes (92, 94) formées dans les rails latéraux, lesdits premier et deuxième cylindres de gaz étant connectés entre des éléments bagues respectifs.
- Ensemble cadre et capote souple (10) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, comprenant en outre un premier élément arc d'aide au tissu (59) raccordé de manière articulée entre ledit arc avant (44) et ledit arc intermédiaire (50) au moyen d'une première liaison d'aide à l'arc (62) fixée en pivotement audit bras de pivotement et d'une deuxième liaison d'aide à l'arc (64) fixée audit premier bras de liaison dudit arc intermédiaire.
- Ensemble cadre et capote souple (10) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, comprenant en outre un tissu de capote souple (72) attribué audit élément arc avant (44), un premier élément arc d'aide au tissu (59), ledit élément arc intermédiaire (50), un deuxième élément arc d'aide au tissu (60) et ledit élément arc arrière (66) de telle sorte que lorsque ladite partie capote souple est levée, le tissu de la capote souple soit géré et plié par lesdits premier et deuxième éléments arcs d'aide au tissu d'une manière pliée en accordéon.
