In der Praxis wird hier eine Gewindespindel einer Spannschraube mittels eines mit der Gewindespindel einstückig oder stoffschlüssig verbundenen Schäkels angeschlagen, wobei ein Schraub- oder Steckbolzen durch das Laschauge geführt wird. Die Spannschraube wird an ihrem anderen Ende mit einer Zurrstange verbunden, die ihrerseits mittels eines Einhakbeschlags in ein stirnseitiges Langloch eines Containereckbeschlags eingehängt wird. Das bedeutet, dass die Laschmittel je nach Höhe der zu laschenden Container einen unterschiedlichen Winkel zum Schiffsdeck einnehmen. Bei an einer Laschbrücke mittels der Laschplatten angebrachten Laschmitteln wird dieses Problem noch verschärft. Die Höhe der Laschbrücke über dem Schiffsdeck ist von Schiffstyp zu Schiffstyp unterschiedlich und entspricht einer Stapelhöhe von einem bis zu derzeit vier übereinander gestapelten Containern. Dementsprechend können die Laschmittel je nach der konkreten Stapelhöhe zwei (bei einer Laschbrücke in der Höhe eines Containers) bis fünf (bei einer Laschbrücke mit einer Höhe von vier Containern) unterschiedliche Winkel einnehmen, nämlich zum Beispiel bei einer Laschbrücke in der Höhe von drei Containern den flachsten Winkel bei einer Stapelhöhe aus drei 8'6"-Containern, den nächst steileren Winkel bei einer Stapelhöhe aus zwei 8'6"-Containern und einem 9'6"-Container, dann bei einer Stapelhöhe aus einem 8'6"-Container und zwei 9'6"-Containern und schließlich den steilsten Winkel bei einer Stapelhöhe aus drei 9'6"-Containern. Dieser kann, wie dieses auch von anderen Schäkeln mit Steckbolzen bekannt ist, durch eine Nut in der zugehörigen Bohrung 25 an einem Schenkel 26 des Schäkelkörpers 23 geführt werden. Sodann wird der Steckbolzen 22 um ein bestimmtes Maß um seine Längsachse gedreht und der Stift 24 beispielsweise in einer Tasche am Schäkelkörper 23 arretiert.
