Definitions

  • the present invention relates to active sonars variable immersion, towed by a building surface. It relates more particularly to towed active sonars which are bistatic devices in which the transmitting antenna is voluminal and is integrated in a submersible object volume and the receiving antenna consists of a linear antenna (flute) towed behind the transmitting antenna. These sonars are towed by means of a tow line which is, for example, formed in part of the linear antenna and to which the transmitting antenna is stowed.
  • the implementation of such a sonar comprises two handling steps consisting for one to the sonar launching from the surface vessel and the other sonar recovery and storage on the tractor building .
  • the linear receiving antennas are traditionally stored on a winch, for obvious reasons of congestion.
  • the placing at sea of a sonar comprising both an emission antenna mounted in a towed submersible machine, also called "fish", and a linear receiving antenna firstly consists of unrolling the linear antenna. by operating the winch and letting the linear antenna immerse itself at the end of the towing cable. It then involves mechanically and electrically coupling the fish to the tow line and then putting the fish into the sea.
  • the recovery of such a sonar aboard the surface vessel consists first of hauling the tow line, then pulling the fish out of the water and then uncoupling the fish from the line. When the latter is uncoupled, the following linear antenna is towed on board and wound on the winch.
  • the launching and recovery of such a sonar therefore involves a certain number of stowage and unstacking operations, which can be performed manually, which, depending on the weight of the transmitter, may require the mobilization of a larger number. or less important operators. But when the sea is difficult, in heavy weather, such operations, usually carried out by crewmen from the rear platform of the building, may prove to these men very delicate, trying, even dangerous, to so that launching or sonar recovery can be made impossible for safety reasons.
  • a known solution consists in storing on two separate reels the electrotractor cable which remains attached to the fish and the linear receiving antenna.
  • the launching of the sonar is carried out by completely unrolling the linear receiving antenna (ie the "flute") in the sea and by mechanically and electrically connecting, the emerged end of the fish flute , at the end of unwinding and before complete immersion.
  • the fish, attached to the flute is dropped to the sea by unrolling the electrotractor cable.
  • stowage and unstacking operations are replaced by connection and disconnection (electrical and mechanical) operations of the linear antenna and the part of the line comprising the fish. These operations are simpler than stowage and undocking operations, but they still require the intervention of operators.

  • the length of the tow line varies according to the speed of the ship and the state of the sea. length is due to the elasticity of the tow line.
  • a towing cable 14 of about 1000 m can undergo a length variation of more than one meter. It is necessary to take into account these variations in length in order to be able to correctly recover the fish 12. It is necessary to correctly configure the device so as not to carry out, before the recovery of the fish 12, a winding which would block the access of the fish 12 at the opening 23c and more particularly at the first stop 28. It is also necessary to correctly position the first stop 28 (and the opening 23c) so that on arrival, the fish 12 can abut against the first stop 28.

  • the device comprises third guide means 34 for guiding and holding the fish 12 in the housing 30 in a predetermined direction perpendicular to the x-axis.
  • This rail and the locking means 29 immobilize the fish in its housing 30 because it is no longer possible to move in the axial direction, nor with respect to the first stop. Thus the roll of the boat does not produce movement of the fish.
  • the third guide means are in the form of a guide rail 34 arranged in the housing 30.

  • This configuration makes it possible to position the towing cable in abutment against the second stop 32 without having to provide means for lowering or raising the cutting head 25. It also limits the efforts on the second stop 32 (or second guiding means), or on the cutting head (if the device is devoid of second guiding means 32).

  • the groove 31 does not perform the function of second stop 32, is advantageous because it allows to provide a stop 32 of larger size and thus correctly guide attachment means 12a of larger size to the diameter of the cable 14a.
  • the groove 31 makes it possible to control the sliding zone of the cable and thus to limit the length of the groove, that is to say the length over which the cable will slide on the second part of the reel during the recovery phase of the fish. .
  • the groove 31 or the support means extend over an opening angle of between 30 ° and 270 ° about the x axis.
  • the locking means 29 are configured to hold the fish 12 in abutment against the first stop 28 when it abuts against said first stop 28.
  • the coupling means 101 are advantageously configured so as to couple the two parts 22 and 23 of the drum.
  • the drive means of the cutting head 103 and the drive means of the drum 100 are advantageously configured so as to achieve a winding, preferably ordered, of the tow line 11 around the assembly formed by the first and second parts of the drum 22, 23.
  • the means of the device are configured to wind the portion of the tow line behind the fish 12 around the first part of the drum. This is, for example, the case when the first part of the drum 23 is devoid of shell 23a.
  • the arrangement of the groove so that the towing cable does not protrude on the outer face of the shell avoids damaging the portion of the cable that is in the groove when winding the rest of the the tow line. It also makes it possible to obtain a well-ordered arrangement of the turns.
  • the outside diameter of the shell is greater than the outside diameter of the first part of the drum. This helps to promote the orderly arrangement of turns around the drum.
  • the difference between the outer diameter of the shell and the outer diameter of the first part of the cylinder is substantially equal to the thickness required to wind the towing cable in an orderly manner around the first part of the drum by realizing a number of turns. of drum equal to the second number N2 of turns (which can be equal to N1).
  • N2 the second number of turns (which can be equal to N1).
  • N2 the number of lath turns
  • the surface formed by the winding turns and the shell is a quasi-cylindrical surface which allows to obtain finally a particularly well-ordered arrangement of turns.
  • the drive means of the slicing means 103 are advantageously configured so as to align the guide means with the turn which is being unwound on the drum 21.
  • the coupling means 101 are advantageously configured so as to couple the two parts of the drum, and the drive means of the drum 100, so as to unwind the tow line as the number of turns made by the drum around the drum.
  • X axis, with respect to an initial position, in the direction of the winding, is greater than a fourth number of turns N4 substantially corresponding to the number of turns made by the drum 21 when the fish 12 comes to touch the first stop 28 when of the winding phase.
  • the driving means of the slicing means 103 and the possible immobilizing means 104 are advantageously configured so as to immobilize the slicing head 25 and the second part of the reel 23 in their respective transfer positions when the number of revolutions is equal. at N4 ( Figures 3e and 3f ). This configuration allows the expulsion of the fish from its dwelling 30.
  • the coupling means 101 are configured so as to disengage the two parts 22, 23 of the drum, the possible immobilization means 104 are advantageously configured so as to immobilize the second part of the drum, and the drive means of the drum 100 are configured to drive the first portion of the reel 22 in rotation so as to unroll the towing cable 14 from the moment the trimming head 25 and the second reel portion are immobilized in their respective transfer positions and as long as the fish 12 is not located beyond the means of slicing relative to the reel 21, for example, until the number of revolutions of reel reaches a fifth number of revolutions N5, for example equal to the third number of revolutions N3 or less than N1.
  • the hydrodynamic drag produced by the submerged portion of the tow line generates a tensile force on the fish 12.
  • the reel unrolls the cable and combined with the traction force generated by the hydrodynamic drag generates a traction force on the fish 12 able to extract the fish 12 from its housing 30 or the first stop 28. In this way, the fish 12 leaves the housing 30, passes through the cutting head and is immersed.
  • the towing cable slides in the groove.
  • the first part of the reel (advantageously coupled or not to the second part of the reel) is advantageously rotated so as to unroll the towing cable until a desired immersion is obtained for the reel. sonar.
  • the subject of the invention is also a towing system comprising a deployment and launching device according to the invention as well as a sonar comprising a linear receiving antenna 13, a volume emission antenna integrated in a solid body to form a voluminal body 12 called fish and a tow line 11 comprising a towing cable 14 to which the fish 12 is suspended and to which the linear antenna 13 is stowed behind the cable 14 relative to the building 10, the cable of towing 14 being attached to said device.
