Description

Domaine techniqueTechnical area

The present invention relates to the field of watchmaking. It relates, more particularly, to a barrel system for a timepiece.

Etat de la techniqueState of the art

A large number of barrel systems for timepieces are known from the state of the art, for example those described in documents. CH 431 389 , CH 333 241 , and EP 1,970,778 , US 3,129,556 , FR 2298815 , CH49 154 or FR 961 913 A . However, all these barrel systems have only one mechanical output which can provide energy, and are not very aesthetic, which is important in high-end watches these days which are often of so-called “skeleton” shape, showing the movement through a transparent background and / or through a cut-out dial. The patent CH 73 311 A further describes a Roskopf type barrel, the latter suffering the same defects as those of the abovementioned documents.

An object of the invention is therefore to propose a barrel system making it possible to transmit a rotational movement of the barrel to an additional mechanism of the timepiece movement and having an improved esthetics, which however remains simple to mount in a movement of watchmaking.

Divulguation de l'inventionDisclosure of invention

More specifically, the invention relates to a barrel system for a timepiece, comprising:
  • a support axis,
  • a barrel comprising a drum closed by a barrel bottom, the barrel housing a mainspring, one outer end of which is in connection with the drum, and
  • a barrel-shaped barrel axis located in the barrel and surrounding the support axis, an inner end of said mainspring being in connection with the barrel axis.

According to the invention, the barrel system further comprises a rotation transmission axis, integral in rotation at a first end with a toothed mobile for transmitting a rotation of said drum to an element of a clockwork movement, l the transmission axis being in the form of a barrel surrounding the support axis and being surrounded by the barrel axis, the rotation transmission axis being further arranged in kinematic connection in rotation at another end with the drum by means a non-circular part which interacts with a connecting element fixed to the bottom of the barrel, the connecting element comprising a non-circular opening of complementary shape to the non-circular part. Consequently, the axis of transmission of rotation, which makes it possible to transmit a movement of rotation to an additional mechanism of the timepiece, is integrated inside the axis of barrel, which makes it possible to obtain a extremely compact construction, and therefore aesthetic.

Preferably, the barrel axis is adapted to be secured to a frame element of the timepiece, which allows a reliable and safe construction. In addition, thanks to the absence of a pivot on one of the sides of the barrel, the thickness of the barrel is reduced.

In one embodiment, the support axis is adapted to be secured to an element of the frame of the timepiece at one end, the barrel being held on the support axis by means of a holding element suitable for ensuring the axial retention of the barrel on the support axis. Therefore, a flying arrangement of the barrel in the movement is possible.

Advantageously, the holding element is a plate comprising a notch in engagement with the support axis, which allows simple assembly. In addition, the plate can be arranged to be integral in rotation with the support axis, said plate comprising a finger arranged to mesh with a mobile "Maltese cross" of a system. the Maltese cross mobile being pivoted on said barrel bottom. The finger of the locking system is therefore integrated with the holding element, reducing the number of separate parts required.

Preferably, the plate is held in position by means of a false bridge mounted on the bottom of the barrel, directly or indirectly.

In one embodiment, the element for connecting the axis of transmission of rotation to the drum is preferably located at least partially between the bottom of the barrel and the aforementioned false bridge.

In another embodiment, the rotation transmission axis is in kinematic connection with a toothed mobile arranged to transmit the rotation of the rotation transmission axis to a power reserve indicator system, which makes it possible to transmit a rotation of the barrel to another mechanism of the timepiece movement, for example to a power reserve indicator mechanism, avoiding the use of a differential, as is generally the case.

In a particular embodiment, the drum has no teeth, the barrel therefore being a so-called “smooth” barrel, and is adapted to drive in rotation a rocket mechanism by means of a chain, a wire, a strap or rope.

The invention further relates to a timepiece movement comprising a barrel system as defined above, in which the support axis is integral with said first frame element of said movement, the barrel axis being integral with a bridge , said bridge being integral with said first frame element. A timepiece movement integrating the barrel system according to the invention is thus proposed.

Preferably, the toothed mobile is located between said first frame member and said bridge, having a compact construction.

Mode de réalisation de l'inventionMode of carrying out the invention

The figure 1 illustrates a barrel system 1 according to the invention. The barrel comprises a drum 2, here having the shape of a smooth drum, particularly suitable for being surrounded by a chain of a rocket mechanism (not shown), in order to drive it in rotation. However, the invention also applies to a drum 2 comprising a peripheral toothing. As is generally known, the drum 2 is closed on one side by a barrel bottom 4, thus forming a box which houses a motor spring (not shown). The barrel system further comprises a stop system 3 located on the barrel bottom 4, comprising a movable "Maltese cross" 5 mounted to rotate freely on the barrel bottom 4 by means of a screw 22, which meshes with a finger 6 in order to limit the number of turns that the drum 2 of the barrel can make, as will be described in more detail below. In addition, the barrel system comprises a bridge 7 and a toothed mobile 8, the functions of which will be described in more detail below.

Cette pierre 17 sert à définir le positionnement du barillet le long de l'axe de support 9 vers le pont 7.As it is more clearly visible on figures 2 and 3 , the barrel system 1 comprises a support pin 9, fixed to a frame element of a clockwork movement (not illustrated) by its lower end (defined with reference to the figures), for example by means of screws 10. Surrounding the axis of support 9 is the barrel axis 11, taking the form of a tube or barrel, to which the inner end of the mainspring (not shown) is attached in a standard manner. The barrel axis 11 is integral with the bridge 7 at least in rotation, the bridge being between the abovementioned frame element and the barrel 2, 4. The barrel bottom 4 and, consequently the drum 2, are free in rotation about the barrel axis 11. The barrel axis 11 can be secured in rotation with the bridge 7 for example by driving, or by interaction between non-circular shapes, for example one or more teeth, grooves, square, or any suitable polygonal shape. Thanks to the fixed barrel axis 11, the barrel 2, 4 is arranged to rotate in both directions of rotation, which makes it particularly suitable for being associated with a rocket mechanism. The barrel system further comprises a barrel cover 16, integral with the drum 2 and free to rotate about the barrel axis 11, the barrel cover 16 pressing via at least one stone 17 driven into the barrel cover 16, against the bridge 7. This stone 17 is used to define the positioning of the barrel along the support axis 9 towards the bridge 7.

Located between the support axis 9 and the barrel axis 11, there is a rotation transmission axis 12, which is rotationally integral with the toothed mobile 8 at one end of the barrel axis 11, the toothed mobile 8 being located in the present example between the above-mentioned frame element and the bridge 7. The other end of the rotation transmission axis 12 is in kinematic connection with the drum 2 of the barrel, by means of a non-circular part 13 which interacts with a connecting element 14 fixed to the bottom of the barrel 4. The connecting element 14 has a non-circular opening corresponding to the shape of the non-circular part 13 of the axis of transmission of rotation 12. The non-circular part circular 13 can be polygonal, ellipsoidal, or any other suitable shape.

The barrel 2, 4 is maintained in the assembled state by means of a plate 18, which carries the finger 6 of the stop mechanism 3. The plate 18 serves as a holding element for holding the barrel 2, 4 on the axis support 9, and is engaged in a cutout 19 of the support axis 9. Indeed, the plate 18 holds the components of the barrel sandwiched between plate 18 and bridge 7. Plate 18 comprises an opening 30 formed to allow the free end 31 of the support pin 9 to pass, as shown by the figure 4 during mounting of the plate 18 on the support axis 9. The opening 30 further comprises a notch 32 formed to cooperate with the cutout 19 of the support axis 9. Advantageously, the cutout 19 has a section non-circular transverse, for example square, the notch 32 having a corresponding shape so that, once engaged, the plate 18 is integral in rotation with the support axis 9. In order to contribute to ensuring the positioning of the plate 18, the latter may include a protrusion 33 projecting from the plane of the plate 18 and having a first flat surface 34 forming an extension of a surface of the notch 32, preferably from the surface of the bottom of the notch 32 The first flat surface 34 is preferably perpendicular to the plane of the wafer 18, and cooperates with a second corresponding flat surface 35 which comprises the free end 31 of the support axis 9, the free end 31 of the axis support 9 and the protrusion 33 being arranged to form together a cylindrical shape, as shown in figure 5 in the assembled position. However, the protrusion 33 and the first and second flat surfaces 34, 35 are not necessarily necessary, other means making it possible to ensure the positioning of the plate 18 being conceivable.

The plate 18 is held in place itself by a false bridge 20 comprising an opening 37 in which freely takes up the free end 31 of the support axis 9, which positions the plate axially and radially, while leaving a clearance sufficient for the false bridge 20 and the plate 18 to be able to move in rotation with respect to one another during the rotation of the barrel. The opening 37 may further comprise one or more ruby-type rings 38 in order to more precisely guide the support axis 9 while limiting friction. The false bridge 20 is located on the connecting element 14, these two elements being secured to the bottom of the barrel 4 by means of a screw-foot 21.

The stop system 3, seen on a larger scale at the figure 6 , works as standard. The finger 6 remains stationary, and the Maltese cross mobile 5 rotates around the support axis 9 on the bottom of the barrel 4 and interacts with the finger 6 at each turn of the barrel. Consequently, for each rotation of the barrel, the Maltese cross mobile 5 rotates one step around its screw 22, until the finger 6 abuts against the part of the Maltese cross mobile 5 which is devoid of notch , thus limiting the rotation of the barrel as is generally known.

In this case, the toothed mobile 8 is intended to transmit the rotation of the barrel to a power reserve indicator mechanism, and therefore the connection between the connecting element 14 and the rotation transmission axis 12 n does not need to be extremely solid, as the power reserve indicator mechanism requires little torque. Consequently, the non-circular part 13 of the axis of transmission of rotation 12 and that of the corresponding opening of the connecting element 14 can be constructed in a relatively fine manner, thus reducing the bulk due to these parts. But, by making these parts more solidly, it would also be possible for the toothed mobile 8 to supply energy to the watch movement.

Thanks to this construction of the barrel system, an almost completely flying barrel is produced, which makes it possible to transmit a rotational movement to a power reserve indicator mechanism or to any other mechanism of the clock movement, without harming the flying effect, thus presenting an improved aesthetic appearance.

The assembly of the barrel system 1 in a timepiece movement is carried out as follows.

Firstly, the drum 2 - barrel bottom 4 - mainspring assembly is assembled to the barrel axis 11, and the cover 16 is secured to the drum 4. The Maltese cross mobile 5 can be mounted at the bottom of barrel 4 at any stage.

Then, the support axis 9 is secured to a frame element (not shown) by means of the screws 10. In the example shown, the support axis 9 is inserted through an opening in the element of built, then is joined to it.

Then, the rotation transmission axis 12 and the toothed mobile 8 are fitted on the support axis 9, the bridge 7 being subsequently mounted to a frame element of the movement.

Then, the drum 2 - barrel bottom 4 - motor spring - cover 16 assembly is fitted onto the rotation transmission axis 12, and the connecting element 14 is engaged with the non-circular part 13 of the axis of rotation transmission 12, and is placed in position against the barrel bottom 4. During this step, the barrel axis 11 is secured in rotation with the bridge 7, for example by driving, or by the engagement of non-circular shapes corresponding. Alternatively, the bridge 7 can be secured to the barrel axis 11 before mounting the drum unit 2 - barrel bottom 4 - motor spring - cover 16, the bridge 7 therefore being secured to a frame element after the fitting of the drum unit 2 - barrel bottom 4 - motor spring - cover 16 - bridge 7 on the rotation transmission axis 12.

Then, the false bridge 20 is put in place, and is joined to the bottom of the barrel 4 by means of the screw 21, thus joining together the connecting element 14 sandwiched between the bottom of the barrel 4 and the false bridge 20.

Although the invention has been disclosed with reference to a specific embodiment, the invention is not limited to this particular example. The barrel system can be modified by a person skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention defined by the appended claims.
