<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Watch motor The object of the present invention is a watch motor, comprising a spring, a drum and a barrel shaft; this motor is characterized in that the shaft has an axial bore in which is engaged a coupling core fixed to the ratchet, this core driving the shaft by elastic friction effect until the moment when the resistance of the spring reaches a value determined beyond which the core turns alone under the action of the ratchet.
The drawing shows, by way of example, three embodiments of the object of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a section through a complete barrel mounted in the frame of a watch.
Fig. 2 is an end view of the barrel shaft, at its end opposite to that receiving the ratchet.
Fig. 3 shows a variant, in section. Figs. 4 and 5 are end views of each of. ends of the shaft of FIG. 3.
Fig. 6 shows another variant, and FIG. 7 the end view of the lower end of the shaft of FIG. G.
The motor according to fig. 1 and 2 comprises the barrel drum 1 in which the mainspring 5 is housed. 2 is the barrel cover and 3 is the hollow barrel shaft in which an elastic coupling core is engaged 4. The spring 5 is hooked by its outer end to the hook 6 made in the cylindrical wall of the barrel and by its inner end to a hook 7 made in the peripheral part 8 of the shaft 3. The latter is drilled from end to end and has an inner circular shoulder 9 against which bears an elastic portion 10 of the core. This one is also pierced from end to end. Its hole has a screw thread over its entire length.
At its upper part is fixed the ratchet 11, fixed by the screw 12. The core carries, immediately under the ratchet, a cylindrical portion 13 which assumes the function of pivoting of the motor member in the barrel bridge 14. The main part of the core is housed inside the shaft. It is made elastic by two perpendicular millings in the form of slots, determining the four legs 15. There could be only one milling determining two legs. These have a slight shoulder 16 which adapts to that of the shaft with a certain axial and radial pressure. The core is put in place by simple pressure exerted from the top of the tree.
The four elastic tabs come together while passing through the constricted portion of the hole, then come to be housed in the flared portion. A screw 17, actuated from below, makes it possible to adjust the tension of the legs thanks to its conical head acting on their inner edge 18. This adjustment can be done without removing the barrel and even when the latter is already in place definitively in the frame. the watch, since the head of the screw 17 appears inside the pivot 19 rotating in the plate 20.
In the variant according to FIGS. 3, 4 and 5, the inside of the arms 15, belonging to the core 4, is slightly conical. A key 21, square here, but
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
which could be of any other polygonal shape, is movable axially under the action. of the screw 22, the head of which rests on the upper end of the shaft. This key moves inside the core. It may bear prominences which engage in the slits of the nucleus. The ratchet 11 is here adapted to the core by an adjustment 23 comprising two flats 24, and tightened by the nut 25.
In the variant according to FIGS. 6 and 7, the elastic portion 26 of the core 4 is in the form of a tube and does not bear any milling. The wall of this tube is thin enough to have the desired elasticity. Its open end is provided with flares 27, here three in number. This number can also be any. This end could just as easily be flared over its entire circumference and end in the shape of a cone. The flared end of the tube bears against the inner bevel 28 of the shaft 3, where the elastic pressure determines when the slippage should occur. An element for adjusting this pressure, similar to those described above, could be adapted to it.
