Definitions
- the invention relates to a process for the production of wear and / or corrosion-protecting oxide layers on barrier layer-forming metals, preferably aluminum, magnesium and titanium, their alloys and mixtures by means of laser treatment.
- corrosion or wear resistant coatings on aluminum is known.
- corrosion and wear-resistant protective coatings of good quality which are referred to as anodized or hard anodised coatings, can be produced by applying external current.
- electrolytes acids
- the DE10202184 C1 describes a method for laser assisted nitriding treatment. However, the layers obtained are brittle.
- the DE 102006051709A1 describes a method in which the workpiece surface is remelted in the presence of oxygen and noble gas without the presence of nitrogen or nitrogen-containing media by means of laser irradiation and building on this a covering oxide coating is preferably formed from aluminum oxide (corundum).
- a covering oxide coating is preferably formed from aluminum oxide (corundum).
- the object of the invention is therefore to provide an alternative method in which Hard, non-brittle, well-adhering and less rough wear and / or corrosion-protective oxide layers are available.
- the plasma is generated by irradiation with a laser. It has been found to be particularly important that an alloy-dependent maximum intensity is not exceeded by the laser. Otherwise, the burning of the surface threatens.
- the laser used has an intensity between 5 ⁇ 10 5 W / cm 2 and 5 ⁇ 10 6 W / cm 2 .
- the graph shows the laser intensity I in W / cm 2 versus the interaction time t in seconds on aluminum in the logarithmic scale graduations.
- I in W / cm 2 the interaction time t in seconds on aluminum in the logarithmic scale graduations.
- the area A on the top left surface structuring takes place and in the area B on the bottom right transformation hardening.
- the surface is irradiated in a hydrogen-free and anhydrous atmosphere with the laser. Then, a stable laser-assisted and continuous as well as near-surface oxygen plasma can be generated, in which the oxide layer is formed by reaction of ionized oxygen and metal. Surprisingly, it has been found that the oxide layers on the surface can only be produced without pores and interference by granting a water- and hydrogen-free plasma.
- the plasma P is composed of reactive oxygen ions O * and must be powered by the laser L to persist. Without the oxygen plasma, the melting of the base material W and the presence of oxygen O 2 on the surface do not produce the desired oxidic coating. There must be two reaction partners available in the plasma chamber. On the one hand, the ionized oxygen O * and on the other the metal, eg aluminum, which can then react with the ionized oxygen (cf. Fig. 1 ).
- the atmosphere can contain not only oxygen but also nitrogen or noble gases.
- the conversion phases generated by the laser treatment according to the invention in a gas atmosphere are expediently built up in defined paths and combinations thereof under compellingly permanent action of the local plasma.
- the gas atmosphere between 20 - 100% oxygen.
- the zero focus (component surface) or a negative focus (in the component or behind it) is used to ensure a stable plasma.
- the location of the focus is important to get and maintain a stable plasma.
- zero focus or negative focus direction focus is in or behind the component
- the plasma is stable.
- positive focus the plasma starts to become unstable very quickly and you have to use disproportionately high intensity to get a plasma.
- the limit value for the maximum deviation from the focus position is about +1/20 of the focal length.
- the layers thus produced are primarily oxidic in nature, but at the same time contain all the alloying constituents provided by the treated alloy.
- the material changes generated below the marginal areas are also alloy-dependent.
- the generated functional layer is composed of single or continuous webs, which are pulled by the laser beam on the surface. It is imperative that the described, continuous, near-surface plasma is maintained ( Fig. 3 ).
- the webs can be intermittently, partially overlapping or fully overlapping in individual or adjacent webs, multiple offset (interleave) or structured, hatched or constructed in the check or arranged ( Fig. 4 and 5 ).
- the surface is irradiated in such a way that an interaction time of 0.0001 s to 0.1 s, preferably 0.0004 s to 0.001 s.
- optimal distance of the tracks has z. B. a distance of about 0.075 mm at a laser spot size of about 0.1 mm diameter exposed (see. Fig. 7 ). If the appropriate ratio is maintained, this can be deviated from.
- the remelting zone below the webs is harder than in the starting state only with cast irons containing silicon (AISi9Cu3 or equivalent), but not with the large material groups of the wrought alloys (eg 6082, 6061 or comparable) or the copper-containing materials (2024 / 7075). In the latter case, the material structure below the webs is softer after treatment than in the initial state. Therefore, the combinations of plasma-converted and remelted material produced within the running webs need not necessarily be multilayered.
- the laser used is a commercially available 400 W fiber laser from the company.
- IPG laser with a wavelength of 1070 nm and a spot diameter in the focus of 0.1 mm.
- the laser beam is controlled by a scan head of the type RHINO with a focal length of 26 cm from Arges.
- the process is carried out within a chamber, so that an oxygen atmosphere of 95% - 100% is used.
- the component is in focus and its position should be at a maximum of 1/20 of the focal length to ensure a stable plasma (here-1.3 cm).
- the substrate used is ALSi12 with standard ground surface. With this alloy, intensities of 5 ⁇ 10 5 W / cm 2 to 1.5 ⁇ 10 6 W / cm 2 can be used. Below this intensity, no plasma is formed, and above that, the material begins to burn, the plasma turns white, and a rough, uneven layer is formed. For the example, an intensity of 1.5 x 10 6 W / cm 2 was used.
- Possible interaction times are 0.1 s to 0.0001 s, where an interaction time of 0.0004 s was used.
- the interaction time affects the process duration and the layer thickness to be achieved. If the interaction time is too short, no plasma is generated or it collapses during the process or a very thin ( ⁇ 1 ⁇ m) defective layer is formed.
- the distance between the individual webs when moving the surface of the substrate with the laser for this example is 0.075 mm to produce a closed layer (see. FIG. 7 ).
- 6400 J / cm 2 laser power are applied to the material, resulting in a plasma on the substrate by conversion of oxygen and aluminum to corundum a closed layer with a thickness between 3 and 6 microns and a roughness ⁇ 2 generated microns.

Abstract
Description
Fig. 1 ).
Fig. 2 ).
Fig. 3 ).
Fig. 4 und5 ).
So zeigt
Fig. 7 ).
