Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for producing a carpet having a patchwork appearance.
- the invention also relates to the carpet obtained by using the method of the invention.
- a patchwork rug is obtained by assembling different pieces of carpet, usually of different colors and / or designs. The assembly is done by sewing by hand the different pieces of carpet to one another ( JP 2001 87116 ). This assembly by hand extends the manufacturing time of said carpet and increases the cost of making patchwork carpets.
- the object of the invention is to provide a method for the manufacture of a mat having a patchwork appearance in an automated manner without having to use the assembly by hand of the various pieces forming the patchwork carpet.
- the present invention provides a method for making a carpet having a patchwork appearance in which warp yarns and at least one weft yarn are used; comprising the following steps: - arranging in one plane the warp threads next to each other without overlapping them, - inserting and interlacing said weft son through said warp son such that said weft son are positioned in consecutive lines and substantially perpendicular to said warp yarns; the weft threads are inserted in the same line repetitively and in a predefined insertion pattern.
- the method is characterized in that said insertion model is interrupted at least once so as to create, on one of the faces of the carpet, at least one line of seams. Said seam line represents a boundary between two areas of the carpet having different appearances and is defined by a plurality of chain yarn segments, said segments have a distance D which is longer than the distance d of a visible warp yarn by using said insertion model.
- the present invention provides a carpet comprising weft yarns inserted and interwoven with warp yarns; said weft yarns are positioned in lines substantially perpendicular to said warp yarns; said weft threads are inserted in the same line repetitively and in a predefined insertion pattern.
- the carpet is characterized in that said insertion model is interrupted at least once so as to create, on one of the faces of the carpet, at least one line of seams, said line of seams represents a boundary between two zones of the carpet. carpet having different appearances and is defined by a plurality of warp thread segments, said segments have a distance D which is longer than the distance d of a warp yarn visible by the use of said insertion pattern.
- the present invention enables the manufacture and production of a rug having a patchwork appearance without requiring the manual labor of sewing different pieces of carpet forming the patchwork carpet.
- the production method according to one embodiment of the invention can be completely automated. This represents a considerable gain in costs and production time.
- the invention relates to a method for producing a carpet having a patchwork appearance.
- the invention also relates to the carpet obtained by using the method of the invention.
- the carpet according to a preferred embodiment is provided with neat finishes.
- carrier having a patchwork appearance is used to designate a carpet having a carpet-like appearance obtained by assembling several pieces of carpet of different sizes and / or shapes and / or colors and / or patterns.
- bonding is used to designate the interlacing of the weft yarns with the warp yarns to form a carpet.
- the warp threads are arranged in at least two planes parallel to each other. In each plane, the warp threads are arranged next to each other without overlapping them. The two planes form a support for the weft son and thus for the carpet.
- the number of warp threads defines the width, length or diameter of the carpet.
- the first warp thread takes the first position by going from right to left or from left to right of the support formed by the warp threads.
- the weft threads are inserted and interlaced through the warp threads in lines such that a line starts at the first warp thread and extends to the last warp thread, the one that is the furthest from the first thread. of chain.
- the insertion is done in one direction and / or in the other: from right to left and / or from left to right of the support formed by the warp threads.
- the method is characterized in that said insertion model is interrupted at least once so as to create, on one of the faces of the carpet, at least one seam line, said seam line represents a boundary between two zones of the carpet having different appearances and is defined by a plurality of warp thread segments. Said segments have a distance D which is longer than the distance d of a warp yarn visible by the use of said insertion model. The distance d of a visible warp yarn is the distance over which the warp yarn is spread when it is positioned above the weft yarn within an insertion pattern.
- the areas of the carpet having different appearances are of different colors and / or comprise different designs and / or different patterns and / or have different geometric shapes.
- Said geometric shapes may be rectangular, triangular, circular or any other geometrical shape.
- the warp yarn segments having the distance D are visible on the carpet surface.
- the surface of the carpet designates the face of the carpet that is not in contact with the ground when the carpet is spread in a room or room for example. Since the warp threads are arranged next to each other without overlapping them, the segments having the distance D and visible on the carpet surface will be parallel to each other.
- the distance D of the segments defining a seam line is variable such that the ratio between the distance D and the longer the distance D is the shortest at least 1, preferably 1.1, more preferably 1.2, still preferably 1.3, even more preferably 1.4. This ratio can be at least 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 or 2.

- the ratio may be at most 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 or 4.
- the ratio between the thickness of a weft yarn with respect to a warp yarn is at least 10, preferably at least 12, more preferably at least 14, more preferably at least 15, 16 or 20.
- the ratio is at most 40, 35, 32, 30 or 25.
- the insertion pattern is interrupted to create at least two lines of seams on the carpet surface. Said seam lines are separated by an area of the carpet in which the insertion pattern is applied. Given the difference in thickness between the warp threads, thinner, and the weft threads, thicker; a difference in height between the region comprising the seam lines and the region separating them. Indeed, the region separating the lines of seams will be thicker than the one comprising the lines of seams thus creating a hand-made appearance, ie as if the pieces of the carpet have been attached to one another by seams made to the hand.
- the thickness of a warp yarn is at least 1 mm, preferably at least 1.5 mm, more preferably at least 1.8 mm, more preferably at least 2 mm.
- the thickness of a warp thread can also be at least 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 3.5 mm, 4 ⁇ m, 4.5 mm or 5 mm.
- the thickness of a warp yarn is at most 10 mm, preferably at most 9 mm, more preferably at most 8 mm, more preferably at most 7 mm.
- the ratio between the distance D and the distance d is at least 1.1, preferably at least 1.5, more preferably at least 2.
- the ratio between the two distances may be at least 3, 4, 5 , 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or any value between the indicated values.

- the density of the warp yarns is at least 10 warp threads per centimeter of carpet and at most 40 warp threads per centimeter of carpet.
- said density is at least 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 or 20 warp threads per centimeter of carpet and at most 39, 38, 37, 36, 35 or 34 threads of chain per centimeter of carpet.
- the insertion model is interrupted so that the visible segments having the distance D belong to juxtaposed warp threads.
- the insertion pattern is interrupted so that the visible segments having the distance D belong to warp threads separated by at least 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 threads. of chain.
- Figure 1 represents a top view of a binding forming the surface of a carpet produced according to a preferred embodiment of the invention.
- the field wires are inserted and interlaced in lines L with the chain wires arranged along the axis CC by reproducing an insertion model MI.
- the lines L of weft son are perpendicular to the son of chains.
- a chain wire C1 is visible on the surface of the carpet while the warp thread juxtaposed with the visible warp thread C1 is covered by the weft son or weirs and is consequently not visible on the surface. carpet.

- the MI insertion pattern is interrupted so that the segments of son visible channels over distances D belong to son of juxtaposed channels C ', C ", C'" and define two lines LC1 and LC2 seams .
- Each line of stitching comprises segments of visible chain lines having a distance D which is either constant or variable.
- the line of seams LC1 comprises chain line segments whose distance D is the same for all visible segments while line of seams LC2 include chain line segments whose distance D varies from one segment to another .
- Figure 2 represents a top view of a binding forming the surface of a carpet produced according to another preferred embodiment of the invention.
- the field wires are inserted and interlaced in lines L with the chain wires arranged along the axis CC by reproducing an insertion model MI.
- the lines L of weft son are perpendicular to the son of chains.
- the insertion model MI of this example is similar to that described for the example of the figure 1 .
- Said insertion model leaves the chain wire C1 visible over a distance d represented on the figure 2 .
- the insertion model MI is interrupted at the level of the raster lines so as to leave visible segments of the same warp thread. As represented in figure 2 The segments extend over different distances and greater than the distance d defined by the insertion MI model.
- the MI insertion pattern is interrupted so that the visible chains son segments having distances D belong to son non juxtaposed channels but which are separated by at least one warp thread. This is illustrated by the chain strings Ca and Cb which are separated by 1 Cc chain line .
- the insertion model MI is interrupted so that the warp thread segments visible over distances D define two lines of seams LC3 and LC4. As is represented at figure 2 Each line of stitching comprises segments of visible chain lines having a distance D which is constant
- the warp yarns are made of linen or wool.
- Preferably said warp yarns are made of cotton.
- Said yarns can have any color and preferably they have an ocher color thus intensifying the worn appearance of the carpet.
- the weft yarn material is selected from the following group: linen, wool, cotton and silk.
- the weft threads and the warp threads may be of different or identical material.
- the weft yarns comprise at least 2 colored yarns.
- the number of weft threads is between 3 and 12, preferably between 4 and 10, preferably between 5 and 9, more preferably between 6 and 8 weft threads.
- the so-called weft yarns are preferably of different colors and are of a different color from that of the warp yarns.
- the frame wires are inserted and intertwined through the warp wires in a superimposed manner. For example, with reference to figure 1 and assuming 3 weft yarns are used in the same line, the weft yarn visible on the surface of the mat is the one positioned above the other two weft yarns which are thus not visible on the mat surface.
- weft yarns are inserted and interwoven with the warp yarns by varying the weft yarn that will be visible on the carpet surface. This makes it possible to create drawings and / or patterns on the surface of the carpet.
- the present invention provides a carpet comprising weft yarns inserted and interwoven with warp yarns.
- the weft threads are positioned in lines substantially perpendicular to said warp threads.
- the weft threads are inserted in the same line repetitively and in a predefined insertion pattern.
- the carpet is characterized in that said insertion model is interrupted at least once so as to create, on one of the faces of the carpet, at least one line of seams.
