Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a carpet with natural threads and a method for manufacturing a carpet with natural threads.
  • the present invention relates to a carpet in which the threads do not come loose or only very limited after cutting.
  • Carpets are well known as flooring (see for example US 2,150,652 and US 2002/0013110 A1 ) and are often used as flooring for large areas such as hospitals, businesses, residences, homes, etc. It is usual to provide rolls of carpet, which are unrolled, cut to measure and fixed on a surface. Different carpets are thus arranged one next to the other by joining, joints being present between the different carpets.
  • Threads can therefore come off, which will be visually observable at the joints.
  • the armor of the carpet is weakened. Over time, the number of loose wires at the joints can increase as a result. In addition, loose wires can become more visible over time. This detachment of the wires along the joints after cutting is not desired, both for the stability of the carpet and for its visual appreciation.
  • the present invention aims to find a solution to remedy at least some of the above problems.
  • the invention relates to a fraying resistant carpet having natural threads according to claim 1.
  • One of the characteristics of claim 1 relates to a carpet having natural threads comprising a series of warp threads intertwined with a series of weft threads, thus forming a fabric having a multitude of floats, which are a section of thread which appears at the surface of a carpet, said floats of said carpet being provided with a weave density of warp yarns with weft yarns of between 6: 1 and 1: 6.
  • the present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a carpet according to claim 5.
  • the figure 1 shows a schematic representation of a carpet 1 according to the first aspect of the invention.
  • the indication of numerical intervals by the end points includes all the whole numbers, all the fractions and / or all the real numbers between the end points, these end points being included.
  • the term "carpet” specifically refers to a woven carpet, the weft threads being introduced and interlaced with a series of warp threads.
  • the repeated passage of weft threads below and above the warp threads forms an insertion pattern.
  • the insertion design can be repeated several times in a frame row.
  • Said first series of sons of warp may be the same or different from said second series of warp threads.
  • the first series of warp threads can include 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 threads.
  • the second series of warp threads can include 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 threads.
  • the number of warp threads determines the width, length or diameter of the carpet.
  • the weft threads are introduced and intertwined on the warp threads in rows so that a row begins at the height of the first warp thread and extends to the last warp thread.
  • the warp threads and the weft threads are brought in such a way that they are positioned reciprocally mainly orthogonal to each other.
  • Warp and weft yarns can be chosen from the group comprising, but not limited to: linen, wool, cotton, silk.
  • the weft threads and the warp threads can be made of a different or identical material and can have an identical or different thickness.
  • the carpet comprises a single series of warp threads.
  • a uniform tension is applied to the warp threads. This considerably reduces the cost of the carpet since the machines required for its production are simple compared to the carpet weaving machine comprising at least two series of warp threads.
  • having only one tension on the warp threads reduces the weight of the carpet which facilitates its transport and / or storage.
  • insertion design is used here for a specific manner and succession of weaving of warp and weft threads.
  • float refers to a section of a thread that appears on the surface of the woven carpet.
  • upper float refers to a section of a thread that appears on the upper side of the woven carpet.
  • An upper float is formed by a weave having a warp weave density: weft of at most 6: 1. This means that each weft thread floats above at most 6 warp threads, preferably at most 5 warp threads, more preferably at most 3 warp threads. As a variant, each warp thread floats above at most 6 weft threads, preferably at most 5 weft threads, more preferably at most 3 weft threads.
  • lower float refers to a section of a thread that appears on the lower side of the woven carpet.
  • a lower float is formed by a weave having a warp weave density: weft of at most 6: 1. This means that each weft thread floats above at most 6 warp threads, preferably at most 5 warp threads, more preferably at most 3 warp threads. Alternatively, each warp thread floats above at most 6 weft threads, preferably at most 5 weft threads, more preferably at most 3 weft threads.
  • the term “weave” or “weaving weave” is used to denote the interlacing of weft yarns and warp yarns for the formation of a carpet.
  • weft float designates a float which is formed by the weft thread.
  • chain float means a float which is formed by the warp yarn.
  • the invention in a first aspect, relates to a carpet having natural threads comprising a series of warp threads intertwined with a series of weft threads, thus forming a fabric having a multitude of floats, which are a section of the thread which appears at the surface of a carpet, said floats of said carpet being provided with a weave density of warp yarns with weft yarns of between 6: 1 and 1: 6.
  • the inventors have found that a sufficiently intense weave of warp and weft threads increases the stability of the carpet. Therefore, the use of a series of tensioned warp threads and a series of less tensioned or relaxed warp threads is not necessary to obtain sufficient stability in the carpet. When the armor density is sufficiently high, sufficient stability is obtained by using only one series of warp threads.
  • the present invention relates to a carpet according to the first aspect of the invention, said weave density being between 5: 1 and 1: 5, preferably between 3: 1 and 1: 3 and more preferably between 2: 1 and 1: 2. Therefore, the length of the wires which come off at the joints is further limited, for example up to a maximum of 2 mm and more preferably up to a maximum of 1 mm and even more preferably up to a maximum of 0.5 mm.
  • said mat is provided with an armor density equal to 1: 1.
  • the present invention relates to a carpet according to the first aspect of the invention, said warp threads being provided with a uniform tension in said carpet.
  • said uniform tension is between 250 N and 400 N and more preferably between 280 N and 375 N.
  • This warp yarn can be considered as a decorative yarn or a yarn giving an effect, the color effect and the texture contributing mainly to the quality and the appreciation of the carpet, in addition to the stability conferred by weft yarns.
  • the presence of a second series of tensioned warp threads is not necessary to obtain sufficient stability of said belt.
  • the present invention relates to a carpet according to the first aspect of the invention, a second series of warp threads being provided having a tension different from the series of warp threads mentioned above.
  • This series of warp threads is preferably also provided with a uniform tension in the carpet and preferably also with a weave density according to the invention.
  • Such a series of warp threads is intended to bring an additional color and / or texture effect to the carpet.
  • the present invention relates to a carpet according to the first aspect of the invention, at most two series of warp threads being provided and preferably at most one series of warp threads.
  • the present invention relates to a carpet according to the first aspect of the invention, said float being formed by weft threads.
  • the present invention relates to a carpet according to the first aspect of the invention, said warp threads and said weft threads being made up of at least 50% natural threads, and more preferably rightly at least 80%, at least 90% and even 100%.
  • said warp threads consist of wool and / or said weft threads consist of cotton and / or wool.
  • Wool has good wear resistance and good durability as well as relatively good natural elasticity and good dye absorption capacity. At the same time, the wool forms a good mass of volume, this volume allowing the woolen thread to reach the surface.
  • Cotton has the advantage of good resistance.
  • Cotton yarns preferably having a yarn count of 24/2 NE (2x246 dtex) are preferably used as warp yarns.
  • the present invention relates to a carpet according to the first aspect of the invention, said weft threads being chenille threads, preferably chenille threads of cotton.
  • a chenille yarn must be understood as being a yarn comprising a central yarn, also called the "soul" of the yarn in specialized jargon, this central yarn preferably being constituted by 2, 3 or 4 yarns.
  • a multitude of lateral fabric particles are arranged around the central thread, which ensure the large volume of the chenille thread at a low density. Since a chenille yarn has a relatively low density, the total weight of the carpet is limited which is advantageous during transport and installation.
  • a first substrate (5) is arranged, at the level of the lower face (2b) of said fabric.
  • the first substrate is in contact with at least 80%, preferably 90%, more preferably 100% of said warp threads of the carpet. This improves the adhesion of the first substrate to the carpet and increases the rigidity of said carpet.
  • Said first substrate forms a layer, continuous or not, of latex which functions for at least partial fixing of the weft threads and the warp threads with respect to each other.
  • This attachment is intended to minimize the risk of detachment of wires when cutting the carpet.
  • a polymer adhesive is used as the first substrate, this polymer adhesive preferably comprising at least 80% by weight of one or more polymers and / or copolymers of ethylene.
  • said first substrate comprises a polymeric adhesive which comprises at least 80% by weight of one or more ethylene copolymers, each of these ethylene copolymers comprising 50 to 95% by weight of ethylene and 5 to 50% by weight of a comonomer which is chosen from the group formed by esters and carboxylic acids.
  • said first substrate is a latex and more preferably a latex endowed with properties of resistance to fraying.
  • the first substrate also has fire resistance and / or flame retardant properties.
  • a second substrate is disposed on the face of said first substrate opposite the face connecting to the fabric, the second substrate consists of polyethylene terephthalate and / or polyester and / or polypropylene.
  • the advantage of such a second substrate is that a certain measure of dimensional stability can be imparted to the carpet.
  • the present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a carpet having natural threads by interlacing a series of warp threads with a series of weft threads, which forms a fabric having a multitude floats, said floats of said mat being formed at a weave density of warp yarns with weft yarns of between 6: 1 and 1: 6.
  • the present invention relates to a method according to the second aspect of the invention, said armor density being between 5: 1 and 1: 5, preferably between 3: 1 and 1: 3 and more preferably between 2: 1 and 1: 2.
  • the present invention relates to a method according to the second aspect of the invention, at least one series of warp threads having a uniform tension being interlaced with said weft threads.
  • said uniform tension is between 250 N and 400 N and, more preferably, between 280 N and 375 N.
  • the mentioned series of warp threads is also provided with a weave density according to the invention. Such a series of warp threads is intended to bring an additional color and / or texture effect to the carpet.
  • a first substrate and optionally a second substrate are disposed at the underside of said fabric.
  • Such a fastening is intended to minimize the risk of detachment of wires when cutting the carpet.
  • the first substrate additionally provides fire resistance and / or flame retardant properties.
  • Said second substrate has the advantage that a certain measure of dimensional stability can be imparted to the carpet.
  • the figure 1 shows a schematic representation of a carpet 1 made of a fabric 2 of natural threads, having a series of weft threads 3 and warp threads 4, which are connected to each other according to a predefined pattern.
  • the fabric is characterized by a first face 2a, also called upper side or top surface, and a second face 2b, also called bottom side or bottom surface, opposite this first face 2a.
  • the figure shows an optimal weave density of warp threads relative to the weft threads equal to 1: 1. This means that each warp thread forms a weave with each consecutive weft thread. In this way, good stability of the fabric 2 and therefore of the carpet 1 is obtained.
  • the warp threads 4 are made of wool and provided with a color effect to bring a visual appearance to the carpet. The warp threads 4 are interlaced at a uniform tension in the carpet.
  • the weft threads 3 are made of cotton chenille threads and provide good stability.
  • the carpet comprises a first substrate 5 comprising a first face 5a and a second face 5b, the first face 5a of said first substrate 5 being adjacent to said second face 2b of the fabric 2.
  • the first substrate 5 comprises a latex resistant to 'fraying and fire resistant. The latex provides additional fixing of the weft threads 3 and the warp threads 4, which makes it possible to further remove the detachment of the threads at the joints.
  • the mat 1 comprises a second substrate 6 which is placed against said second face 5b of said first substrate 5.
  • a second substrate 6 comprises polypropylene and / or polyester and / or polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and is advantageous because of its sound insulation properties.
