Definitions

  • the invention relates to a braking device for gliding board, particularly suitable for ski touring. It also relates to a device for attaching a boot to a gliding board, such as a heel or a stop, incorporating such a braking device. Finally, it also relates to a ski on which is fixed such a braking device.
  • ski touring requires two different phases of operation of the ski.
  • a first phase of climbing, or more generally of walking the skier advances by lifting his heel, which is not secured to the gliding board.
  • no ski braking device is used.
  • a second downhill phase the skier has his shoe fully secured to the ski, and practices skiing as in the case of downhill skiing. He thus needs a fixing device equipped with a trigger mechanism allowing him an automatic release of the shoe in case of fall, to avoid any injury and ensure its safety.
  • a braking device is then also essential to automatically brake the ski in case of triggering of the attachment device, to prevent the ski from continuing to slide.
  • the ski touring braking device is generally equipped with a locking device, which makes it possible to block it and make it inactive in the first climbing phase. Downhill, the locking device is in an unlocked configuration, in which the brake operates in a manner similar to the brakes on alpine skis.
  • the present invention aims to provide a braking device for ski touring that is simple, user-friendly, reliable.
  • the invention is based on a braking device for ski touring comprising a brake, provided with an elastic element which exerts an elastic return force of braking limbs to the braking position of the brake, and a braking device.
  • blocking which can occupy a blocking configuration in which the brake is immobilized by the locking device in the non-braking position and a non-locking configuration in which the brake is able to brake the ski in a braking position, characterized in that the locking device is slidably movable with respect to the brake so as to occupy the locking or non-locking configuration and in that the locking device comprises a blocking element which acts on the brake during the actuation of the locking device by exerting a first effect of positioning the brake in the non-braking position by opposing the elastic return force.
  • the locking element can act directly on the elastic element of the brake during the actuation of the locking device, regardless of the initial position of the brake, by exerting a dynamic effect of positioning the brake in the non-braking position when moving the blocking device to the blocking configuration.
  • the invention also relates to a braking device for ski touring comprising a brake and a locking device that can occupy a locking configuration in which the brake is immobilized by the locking device in the non-braking position and a non-locking configuration.
  • the brake is able to brake the ski in a braking position, characterized in that the locking device is slidably movable with respect to the brake so as to occupy the locking or non-locking configuration and in that the locking device comprises a fastening element for a heel piece.
  • a ski binding device to allow automatic retraction of the heel during the passage of the locking device in the brake lock configuration.
  • the locking device may be independent of the brake.
  • the brake can be fixed on a ski and the locking device can be sliding relative to the brake.
  • the invention also relates to a heel assembly and braking device, for fixing the rear portion of a ski boot on a ski touring, characterized in that the heel is connected to a braking device as described above.
  • the heel can be linked to the locking device to obtain an automatic retreat of the heel during the passage of the braking device to its brake locking configuration.
  • the invention also relates to a ski touring, characterized in that it comprises a braking device as described above and / or a heel assembly / braking device as described above.
  • the longitudinal direction x as the horizontal direction extending from the rear to the front of the ski
  • the transverse direction y the horizontal direction perpendicular to the direction x
  • the direction vertical z perpendicular to the horizontal plane defined by the x and y axes, pointing upwards.
  • the same references are used for the same or substantially the same elements in the two embodiments described below. The different elements in their structure but with the same function are given an identical number to which is added the character "'" in the second execution mode.
  • the Figures 1 to 7 therefore represent a braking device according to a first embodiment, which comprises a brake 1, more particularly visible on the figure 3 , and a blocking device, more particularly visible on the figure 4 .
  • This embodiment is provided for an association of the braking device with a heel of a ski binding device, for example of the type used for the practice of alpine skiing.
  • the ski boot, the attachment device of this shoe (the heel) and the ski itself are not shown in these figures.
  • the brake 1, visible on the figure 3 is a conventional brake used on an alpine ski, shown in the braking position, as for example described in the document FR2788991 . It comprises a pedal 2 intended to receive the support of a ski boot, in general the heel, to allow it to swing from the first braking position to a non-braking position, as represented for example respectively on the Figures 1 and 2 , for the practice of skiing.
  • This brake further comprises a heel rest 3, intended for fixing substantially on the surface of the ski and the reception of the sole of the ski boot during the descent when it is fixed by the jaws of a heel piece and the brake is in a non-braking position.
  • the brake 1 comprises a continuous metal element, forming two braking branches 4 at the bottom, for a disposition on both sides of the ski.
  • these braking arms 4 extend downward under the lower surface of the ski to come rub on the snow and brake the ski.
  • these branches are extended by two substantially horizontal portions 5 which pass through an opening of the heel rest and possibly the base 30 resting on the ski. These horizontal portions thus form a transverse axis of rotation of the metal element relative to the brake heel rest.
  • the metal element then extends upwards to the pedal 2, where it forms a continuous central loop 6 which descends below the pedal and whose U-shaped lower end 7 is substantially at the level of the pedal. heel rest 3. This shape of the metal element, and more particularly the loop 6, gives it an elastic property.
  • the loop 6 is the brake return spring.
  • the brake 1 At rest, the brake 1 is in the braking position as shown on the figures 1 and 3 .
  • the force of his shoe pressing on the pedal 2 causes the entire metal element to rotate around its parts 5 forming a transverse axis of rotation, until the pedal 2 come close to the surface of the ski and the shoe resting on the heel rest.
  • the two braking arms 4 In this final non-braking position, the two braking arms 4 are in the raised position, substantially horizontal, and can not come into contact with the snow, do not interfere with the normal practice of skiing.
  • the boot In the event of a fall and release of the skier's boot by the triggering of the fastening device of the ski boot, the boot no longer bears against the brake which automatically elastically regains its braking position to stop the ski.
  • the braking device further comprises a locking device, the function of which is to lock the brake 1 in said locking configuration in a climbing phase during the practice of ski touring.
  • the locking device comprises a locking element 11 arranged towards a forward end of a rod 20 mounted to slide in a substantially longitudinal direction within a base 30 for attachment to the ski surface, close to the brake.
  • This base 30 is housed on either side of the heel rest 3 of the brake, at its front part, where it forms a complementary lateral support of the braking limbs 4.
  • the sliding of the bead causes its displacement in longitudinal translation, in both directions, in order to induce the two configurations of the locking device and therefore the braking device.
  • the locking device is more particularly visible on the figure 4 .
  • the locking element 11 comprises two upper 12 and lower 13 elements delimiting a groove 14 intended to cooperate with the lower part 7 of the loop 6 of the brake.
  • the lower element 13 comprises a first substantially horizontal high surface 15 and then a surface inclined towards the ski, forming a guide ramp for the insertion of the brake in the groove 14, as will be explained later. Finally, it forms a second substantially horizontal surface 16 low.
  • This blocking element 11 is thus arranged on a rod 20, which then comprises a rearward higher part carrying a toothing 21 or notch, then a loop 22 before ending towards its rear end by an actuating element 23 forming a substantially concave surface and of diameter adapted for receiving a ski stick tip.
  • this braking device is in the non-blocking configuration.
  • the lower part 7 of the element metal of the brake more precisely of the loop 6 forming a spring, which bears on the first substantially horizontal surface 15 arranged in the upper part of the groove 14 of the locking element 11.
  • the brake is free to rotate relative to the ski to occupy the position of non-braking, illustrated by the figure 5 , or the braking position, illustrated by the figure 6 , depending on the position or not of a ski boot on the ski. Note, it is visible that the lower end 7 of the loop 6 moves slightly on the surface 15 between these two positions.
  • the passage of the braking device from this first non-locking configuration to the blocking configuration is implemented by a manual support on the surface of the actuating element 23 of the rod 20, for example in a user-friendly manner with the tip of a stick, to generate an elastic lever effect on the rear portion of the rod 20 which allows the loop 22 to descend below the rod 32 while inducing a rear pushing effect of the rod, causing its recoil by sliding back within the base 30, as soon as it is unlocked. Then, this sliding movement is continued until reaching a final stop, in which the lower end 7 of the brake loop 6 is on the second horizontal surface 16 at the bottom of the groove 14 of the locking element.
  • Loop 6 loses any degree of freedom, which thus blocks the brake in its non-braking position.
  • the locking element 11 opposes the elastic return of the brake. This effect is all the more powerful that its action occurs directly on the loop 6 of the metal element, which forms the energizing component that produces the spring effect of the brake.
  • the shape of the rear portion of the rod allows it to remain elastic support under the rod 32 at a lower portion of the rod. This geometry prevents accidental sliding of the rod and this locking configuration is stable.
  • the actuation of the rod 20 can be performed while the brake is in the braking position. This has the first effect of moving it to the non-braking position, before locking it in this position.
  • the locking element of the locking device acts directly on the spring element of the brake during the actuation of the locking device, regardless of the initial position of the brake, which allows it first to exercise a first dynamic effect of good positioning of the brake as the displacement of the locking device and a second static effect of locking the brake in the non-braking position at the end of displacement.
  • the rod 20 also comprises a toothing 21.
  • the function of this toothing is to allow the attachment of a heel of a ski binding device, through a corresponding toothing arranged beneath its lower surface.
  • the use of the teeth allows longitudinally adjustable positioning of the heel.
  • the latter advantageously comprises rails, which cooperate with slides 31 arranged in the lateral portion of the base 30, allowing it to slide longitudinally along these slides 31.
  • the heel is then notched in the toothing 21 of the rod to secure it with the ski by the intermediate of this rod 20.
  • This arrangement advantageously allows the rod 20 to perform a second function, in addition to locking the brake explained above, the heel of the heel during the passage in blocking configuration.
  • the rod is slid backwards. It then drives the heel that is attached to it in this movement back.
  • This allows to move the heel of the boot in blocking configuration of the braking device, which is used for the climbing phase of the ski touring, during which the heel of the shoe is not secured to the ski but free.
  • the recoil of the heel then allows to release a volume so as not to hinder the movement of the heel of the shoe during the climbing phase.
  • the rod returns to its advanced position and the heel returns to the same position as initially. It automatically returns to a good position, without the need for a new size adjustment, which is very user-friendly and advantageous.
  • the profile of the groove 14 of the locking element determines the sliding length of the rod and thus the retraction of the heel between the two configurations of the braking device.
  • a retreat of at least 20 mm is implemented.
  • FIGS 8 to 13 represent by way of example a second embodiment in which the brake has another architecture, also existing in the state of the art, for example as described by the document US4515388 .
  • This brake is different from the previous in that it no longer relies on a single continuous metal element.
  • the pedal 2 is mounted to move about a transverse axis 5 'close to the surface of a ski by means of a connecting rod 8.
  • the return spring effect is implemented by an elastic element or 6 'torsion spring. The latter is in two parts connected around a central portion forming a blade in contact with the rod 8.
  • the two braking branches 4 are separate and linked to the pedal 2 by two respective metal rods distinct. They are independent of the spring 6 '.
  • the figure 10 shows a portion of the spring 6 'without its cylindrical cowling 9 to facilitate the visibility of the figure.
  • the base 30 is extended in its anterior part under the heel rest 3 and forms a lateral support for the braking limbs 4.
  • the locking device of this second embodiment is also based on a rod 20 whose rear portion is similar to that of the first embodiment, but differs by the use of a different locking element, which is under the shape of a simple stop 14 '.
  • the spring 6 'of the braking device comprises two lateral ends 7', oriented downwards, which can cooperate with two respective lateral tabs 17 of the cowling 9, which can themselves cooperate with abutments 14 'of the locking device, as will be detailed hereinafter.
  • the Figures 8 to 12 represent the non-blocking configuration.
  • the rod occupies its advanced position, in which only the actuating element 23 is disposed beyond the base 30. In this position, the brake is free to rotate, depending on the actuation of the pedal 2, so that the brake can occupy the position of non-braking, illustrated by the figure 12 , or the braking position, illustrated by the Figures 8 to 11 .
  • This direct blockage therefore means in the broad sense, possibly one or more intermediate components, such as a cowling.
  • the locking element of the locking device therefore acts directly on the spring element of the brake during the actuation of the locking device, regardless of the initial position of the brake, which allows it to first exercise a first dynamic effect of good positioning of the brake as the displacement of the device blocking then a second static effect of locking the brake in the non-braking position at the end of displacement.
  • the rod used can be simplified, by removing its toothed portion 21.
  • this rod can extend forwardly or laterally, and be actuated differently.
  • the blocking element is independent, not necessarily linked to a bead wire but for example to a simple base slidably mounted relative to the brake, and therefore with respect to the ski.
  • the locking element is therefore a separate element of the brake according to one embodiment.
  • the brake heel rest is preferably fixedly mounted on the ski. It can be confused with the base mentioned above.
  • the recoil function can be maintained, but the connection between the rod and the heel can be simplified, can rest on any fastener, not necessarily proposing the longitudinal adjustment of the heel.
  • the locking device is also independent of the brake.
  • the heel rest or base of the latter is advantageously fixed on the ski, and the independent locking element is movable in sliding relative to the movable part to lock the brake, to interact or not with him.
  • the locking element is preferably operable in a simple and user-friendly way, manually, possibly using the skier's stick, but without tools.
  • Any locking device of the locking member may be provided to stabilize one or both configurations of the braking device. In a simplified variant, no locking device is implemented.
  • the braking device has advantageously been combined with a heel piece for fixing a ski boot of the heel type used for the practice of alpine skiing.
  • the principle remains compatible with any other heel. It can also be combined with an abutment of a fixing device, intended to fix the front of a shoe, not a heel, or independently of these two fasteners, stop and heel, for example on the ski between these two devices.
