Definitions

  • the invention relates generally to the field of bookbinding, and more particularly to the apparatus and methods for binding and hanging a sheet bundle.
  • a sheet bundle may be bound by stitching at several locations along the back edge of a sheet bundle. It is common for a conventional stapler to be used in the work, in particular a conventional office stapler or stapler to be used against a table.
  • the object of the invention is to enable the production of a book to be assembled of better quality using a bound sheet bundle.
  • the binder sheet usable in the bookbindery comprises a support surface suitable for supporting a sheet bundle and finger-like members pointing from the edge of the support surface substantially perpendicular to the support surface against which the back edge of the sheet bundle to be placed on the support surface can be balanced are configured such that in each case a stitching column remains between the finger-like members.
  • the binding pad includes at least one limiter located below the finger-like members and the support surface, which is retracted with respect to the inner edge of the stitching nips.
  • the inventors have observed that in the prior art, in the case of a tied sheet bundle, the waviness of the pages is due to the fact that the staples are not at the same distance from the edge of the sheet bundle to be bound. In addition, some of the staples may be crooked. For these reasons, the break gets slightly wavy when opening the book.
  • the staple pad can be used to bind a book, thanks to the staple gap usually market staplers.
  • the stapling pliers are placed in the stitching column, which controls the stapling pliers in the correct position. Thanks to the limiter, the correct alignment of the stapling pliers is made easier: When the stapling pliers are pushed all the way to the limiter, the staple entering the sheet bundle strikes the booklet row not too close to the binding edge. Since the stapling pliers can not be pushed beyond the limiter, the staple also does not hit the back of the row of stitches, that is, farther away from the binding edge.
  • width of the limiter is equal to or greater than the distance of the outermost stitching gaps from each other, it can be ensured that it is possible to accurately perform the alignment of the staples at all stitching locations.
  • the use of the stapling pliers can be facilitated using the binding pad and thus a precise operation can be supported because because the stapling pliers rests on the support member, do not tire the user's hands so fast.
  • the support member comprises a continuous planar surface whose width is equal to or greater than the distance of the outermost stitching gaps from each other, premature fatigue of the user's hands can be reduced throughout the time of machining the binding edge.
  • the binding pad is sustainable to the edge of a work table, good quality binding can be realized using conventional business or office equipment. This is particularly easily possible if the binding pad is configured such that the inside of the limiter and the connection point of the support surface form an angle, which is sustainable to the edge of the work table. Thus, the user can not inadvertently push deeper into the support base with the stapler, because the edge of the worktable counteracts. This reduces the risk that the user would attach staples at a wrong distance from the binding edge due to the movement of the backup pad.
  • the binding pad includes a lateral edge compensator which is retracted on the support surface with respect to the inside edge of the stitching nips, it can be ensured that the staples in each sheet bundle to be bound come to the same location.
  • the finger-like members are formed from a bent plate, they can be relatively easily realized manufacturing technology. Then it is particularly advantageous if the support surface is formed of a plate which is arranged against the finger-like members such that an elevation is provided between the bent plate and the plate to compensate for the curvature resulting from the bend, so that the finger-like members form a substantially straight angle with the binding pad. This is a simple method to ensure that the finger-like links are at a straight angle, regardless of the rounding resulting from the bend.
  • the binding pad further comprises a finger-like member opposite member for positioning a book cover between the finger-like members and the opposing member
  • the finger-like members may also be added to the control of stapling forceps be used for a different purpose, namely for positioning a book cover.
  • such a binding pad additionally comprises a lateral control device, below which the book cover is inserted in the lateral direction and against which the bound sheet bundle is aligned with respect to the book cover; can be ensured with relatively simple means that the bound sheet bundle can be fed with respect to the book cover using the binding pad.
  • a stopper is arranged below the control device, the distance of which is adjustable by the control device, the user can use the binding pad to determine how much draw-in is desired, which makes the binding cover for covers of different types more suitable and therefore more versatile.
  • the sheet bundle is tied at its one edge by using the binding pad usable in the bookbinding according to one of the preceding claims and a stapling pliers.
  • the method using simple means of conventional stapling pliers and the binding pad of the invention, enables the binding of a sheet bundle in such a way that a high quality book can be made from the tied sheet bundle.
  • a self-adhesive sheet is used in the sheet bundle to be bound as the uppermost and / or as the lowermost sheet, which sheet has at least one damping member in the most preferred manner at the back edge.
  • a second advantageous embodiment of the method is usable when the binding pad comprises a lateral control device, under which the book cover is inserted in the lateral direction and against which the bound sheet bundle is aligned with respect to the book cover.
  • the binding pad may have under the control device a stopper whose distance from the control device is preferably adjustable.
  • the hard cover is positioned between the finger-like members and the opposing member and pushed under the side control device, after which the tied sheet bundle is pushed against the side control device, after which the release paper and the bound sheet bundle are removed from the self-adhesive sheet or sheets attached to the book cover.

  • the binding pad 10 comprises a support surface 14 suitable for supporting the sheet bundle and finger-like links 11 pointing from the edge of the support surface 14 substantially in the vertical with respect to the support surface 14 FIG. 1
  • the number of finger-like members 11 is seven, but more or less finger-like members 11 may be provided. Finger-like members 11 are still present at least two.
  • the back edge of the sheet bundle to be placed on the support surface 14 can be compensated against the finger-like members 11.
  • the finger-like members 11 are configured such that a stitching gap 16 remains between them.
  • the binding pad 10 includes at least one below the finger-like members 11 and the support surface 14 lying limiter 12, which is retracted with respect to the inner edge of the stitching columns 16.
  • the width of the limiter 12 is most preferably the same or greater than the distance of the outermost stitching columns 16 from each other.
  • the support member 13 comprises a continuous planar surface whose width is equal to or greater than the distance of the outermost stitching columns 16 from each other.
  • the flat surface is realized in the most preferred manner as a plate or as a bar.
  • the binding pad 10 is sustainable to the edge of a work table. Most preferably, this can be realized if the binding pad 10 is configured such that the inner side 17 of the limiter 12 and the junction of the support surface 14 form an angle that is sustainable to the edge of the workbench.
  • the binding pad 10 preferably also includes a lateral edge compensator 15 which is retracted on the support surface 14 with respect to the inner edge of the stitching columns 16.
  • the finger-like members 11 may advantageously be formed from a bent plate.
  • the support surface 14 is advantageously formed of a plate which is arranged against the finger-like members 11 such that between the bent plate and the plate which forms the support surface 14, an elevation 21 is mounted to compensate for the curvature resulting from the bend, so that the finger-like members 11 form a substantially straight angle with the support surface 14.
  • FIG. 3 shows a conventional, commercially available stapling pliers 100.
  • stapling forceps 100 a Rapid® Kl-stapler by Isaberg Rapid AB is used in the most preferred manner, with which up to 40 sheets can be stapled at once.
  • stapler 100 any other stapling pliers can be used.
  • the stapling pliers 100 are staples in the material, which is located in the mouth 110 of the stapling pliers 100, injected when the handles 121 and 120 are pressed against each other.
  • the staple from the transported inside the upper jaw comb a staple releases and through the material in their mouth 110 material against the die of lower jaw 103 pushes, after which the die and the chisel together bend the staples by laterally bending the part which has passed through the material.
  • the stapling tongs 100 may also have fins 102.
  • the width B of the stitching gap 16 is most preferably selected so that it is just possible to push the stapling pliers 100 into the stitching gap 16 such that the mouth 110 of the stapling pliers 100 on the edge of the sheet bundle to be bound at the stitching gap 16 comes.
  • FIG. 4 represents a sheet bundle 40.
  • the back edge 41 of the sheet bundle 40 that of the edges 41, 42, 43, 44 of the sheet bundle 40 is meant, at which the individual sheets 49 of the sheet bundle 40 are tied together.
