Die mit der Erfindung erreichten Vorteile werden darin gesehen, dass die erfindungsgemäße Dunstabzugshaube im Nichtbetriebszustand eine Kugelform einnimmt. Dadurch wirkt die Dunstabzugshaube in einer Küche über einer Kochstelle nicht unmittelbar als funktionstechnische Dunstabzugshaube, sondern verleiht dem Küchenambiente den Anschein einer Lampe. Somit wirkt die erfindungsgemäße Dunstabzugshaube nicht störend, wobei sie aufgrund ihrer Form leicht und einfach mittels eines elektrischen Versorgungskabels an der Decke angebracht werden kann. Somit stellt im Ruhestand die Dunstabzugshaube eine Kugel dar, welche auch als ambiente Beleuchtung genutzt werden kann. Entstehen Kochwrasen öffnet sich die untere Fläche zu einem Wrasenerfassungsschirm. Der Schirm besteht aus mehreren schwenkbaren Schalensegmenten, welche in zwei unterschiedlichen Größen ausgelegt sind, und zwar hier in einem Innenschirmsegment und einem Außenschirmsegment. Durch die Anordnung und Größe der Schirmsegmente kann eine vordere Bedienerseite definiert werden, welche eine bessere Zugänglichkeit zum Kochfeld und eine entsprechende Kopffreiheit ermöglicht. Durch die Öffnung des Wrasenerfassungsschirmes vergrößert sich der Erfassungsbereich in einem Verhältnis von 1:3, dabei entspricht 1 die Fettfilterfläche, wobei 3 dem geöffneten Wrasenschirm entspricht. Da sich die Drehachse für die Schirmsegmente auf der mittig gelegenen Schnittebene der Kugel befinden, ist die maximale Größe der Erfassung realisiert. Die Kugelform der Schirmsegmente unterstützt die Lenkung der Wrasen zum Ansaugbereich, wobei der Filter mittig angeordnet ist, der in seiner waagerechten Lage seine maximale Größe erhält. Die einzelnen Schirmsegmente sind einfach ein- bzw. aushängbar angeordnet und somit leicht zu handhaben. In ihrer jeweiligen Größe sind sie gut zu reinigen. Um den Wrasenerfassungsschirm zu öffnen wird die gesamte Saugeinheit, bestehend aus Gebläse und Filter, um ein bestimmtes Maß nach unten gefahren. Die Saugsatzeinheit fährt mit einem umlaufenden Rand gegen die an den Schirmsegmenten befindlichen Hebelflächen. Beim Entlangfahren an diesen Flächen werden die Schirme um ein bestimmtes Maß aufgehebelt. Damit sich die Schirmsegmente beim Öffnen nicht gegenseitig behindern, fahren diese zeitversetzt. Dies wird realisiert, in dem die Hebelflächen der jeweiligen Schirmsegmente mit unterschiedlichen Winkeln zur Saugansatzeinheit stehen. In der Endstellung haben die jeweiligen Schirmsegmente unterschiedliche Winkelstellungen, damit die Schirmsegmente nicht miteinander kollidieren.
