Claims (14)

  1. Medienelement-Aufbewahrungseinheit (10) für einen Medienelement-Recycler (100), wobei die Medienelement-Aufbewahrungseinheit (10) Folgendes umfasst:
    eine erste rotierende Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (12) ;
    eine zweite rotierende Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (14), die mit der ersten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (12) ausgerichtet ist;
    Aufbewahrungsband (16) zum Aufbewahren verschiedener Typen von Medienelementen, wobei das Aufbewahrungsband um jede der ersten und zweiten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtungen (12,14) gewickelt ist und in identische Sätze (76,78) von Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsorten (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94) entlang der gesamten Länge abgrenzt, und mit mindestens einer Kalibrierungsmarkierung (96) an jedem Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsort (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94) markiert ist, um einen Typ von Medienelement zu identifizieren, das an diesem Aufbewahrungsort (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94) aufbewahrt wird oder aufbewahrt werden soll;
    einen Sensor (52) zur Erkennung der Kalibrierungsmarkierungen (96) und Ermittlung, ob ein Medienelement, das am Aufbewahrungsort (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94) aufbewahrt wird, erfasst wird;
    eine Eingangs-/Ausgangsöffnung (40) zwischen den ersten und zweiten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtungen (12, 14), durch die Medienelemente eingeführt oder entfernt werden können; und
    eine Steuerung (54), die verwendet werden kann, um entweder die ersten oder zweiten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtungen (12, 14) zu drehen, um das Aufbewahrungsband (16) vorwärts oder rückwärts zu bewegen, während die erkannten Kalibrierungsmarkierungen (96) erfasst werden, um auf dem Aufbewahrungsband (16) entweder i) ein Medienelement des gewünschten Typs für eine Ausgabetransaktion oder ii) einen leeren Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsort (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94), der einem erforderlichen Medienelement-Typ für eine Ausgabetransaktion entspricht, zu finden.
  2. Medienelement-Aufbewahrungseinheit nach Anspruch 1, ferner umfassend erste und zweite Trägerbandvorräte (20, 26); wobei der erste Trägerbandvorrat (20) das erste Trägerband (22) beinhaltet, das um den ersten Trägerbandvorrat (20) gewickelt ist und sich bis zur ersten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (12) erstreckt und um diese gewickelt ist, sodass die Medienelemente an der ersten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (12) zwischen dem ersten Trägerband (22) und dem Aufbewahrungsband (16) aufbewahrt werden; und der zweite Trägerbandvorrat (26) das zweite Trägerband (28) beinhaltet, das um den zweiten Trägerbandvorrat (26) gewickelt ist und sich bis zur zweiten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (14) erstreckt und um diese gewickelt ist, sodass die Medienelemente an der zweiten Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (14) zwischen dem zweiten Trägerband (28) und dem Aufbewahrungsband (16) aufbewahrt werden.
  3. Medienelement-Aufbewahrungseinheit nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei die Eingangs-/Ausgangsöffnung (40) einen Schieber (42) beinhaltet, der durch die Steuerung (54) zwischen zwei Positionen beweglich ist:
    i) einer Transportposition, in der der Schieber (42) parallel zu einem Abschnitt des Aufbewahrungsbands (16) neben dem Schieber (42) ist, und
    ii) einer Eingangs-/Ausgangsposition, in der der Schieber (42) quer zum Abschnitt des Aufbewahrungsbands (16) neben dem Schieber (42) ist.
  4. Medienelement-Aufbewahrungseinheit nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei die Eingangs-/Ausgangsöffnung (40) einen Schieber (42) beinhaltet, der durch die Steuerung (54) zwischen drei Positionen beweglich ist:
    i) einer Transportposition, in der der Schieber (42) parallel zu einem Abschnitt des Aufbewahrungsbands (16) neben dem Schieber (42) ist, und
    ii) einer Eingangsposition, in der der Schieber (42) quer zum Abschnitt des Aufbewahrungsbands (16) neben dem Schieber (42) ist und ein unterer Teil davon näher zur ersten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (12) ist als zur zweiten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (14), und
    iii) einer Ausgangsposition, in der der Schieber (42) quer zum Abschnitt des Aufbewahrungsbands (16) neben dem Schieber (42) ist und ein unterer Teil davon näher zur zweiten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (14) ist als zur ersten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (12).
  5. Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung nach einem der vorstehenden Ansprüche, die mindestens aus Anspruch 2 bestehen, wobei die Eingangs-/ Ausgangsöffnung (40) eine Vielzahl von Rollen (18, 24, 30) zum Führen des Aufbewahrungsbands (16), des ersten Trägerbands (22) und des zweiten Trägerbands (28) und zum Halten dieser Bänder (16, 22, 28) in Spannung beinhaltet.
  6. Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung nach einem der vorstehenden Ansprüche, wobei die Steuerung (54) mit der Konfiguration der Sätze programmiert ist, sodass die Steuerung (54) die Reihenfolge kennt, in der die Medienelemente in jedem Satz (76, 78) aufbewahrt werden.
  7. Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung nach einem der vorstehenden Ansprüche, wobei die Steuerung (54) so angeordnet ist, dass sie eine Zuordnung der Typen von Medienelementen speichert, die an jeder unterschiedlichen Kalibrierungsmarkierung (96) aufbewahrt werden.
  8. Medienelement-Recycler (100), der die Medienelement-Aufbewahrungseinheit (10) nach einem der vorstehenden Ansprüche beinhaltet.
  9. Medienelement-Recycler (100) nach Ansprüchen 2 und 8, ferner umfassend Motoren (50) zum Drehen der ersten und zweiten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtungen (12, 14) und der Trägerbandvorräte (20, 26).
  10. Medienelement-Recycler (100) nach Anspruch 8 oder 9, ferner umfassend einen Medienelement-Validator (116).
  11. Selbstbedienungsterminal mit einem Medienelement-Recycler (100) nach einem der Ansprüche 8 oder 10.
  12. Verfahren zum Aufbewahren von Medienelementen in einem Medienelement-Recycler, das Verfahren umfassend:
    Empfangen eines Medienelements von einem Medienelement-Validator;
    Drehen entweder einer ersten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (12) oder einer zweiten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (14), die mit der ersten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (12) ausgerichtet ist, um Aufbewahrungsband (16), das um jede der ersten und zweiten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtungen (12, 14) gewickelt ist, zu bewegen, wobei das Aufbewahrungsband (16) in identischen Sätzen (76, 78) von Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsorten (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94) entlang seiner gesamten Länge abgegrenzt ist und an jedem Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsort (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94) markiert ist; mit mindestens einer Kalibrierungsmarkierung (96), um einen Typ von Medienelement zu identifizieren, der an diesem Aufbewahrungsort (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94) aufbewahrt wird oder aufbewahrt werden soll;
    Erfassen der Kalibrierungsmarkierungen (96), um einen Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsort (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94) am Aufbewahrungsband (16) zu identifizieren, der einem Typ des empfangenen Medienelements entspricht, und
    Ermitteln, ob ein Medienelement am Aufbewahrungsort (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94) aufbewahrt wird; Erfassen;
    Ausrichten des identifizierten Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsorts (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94) mit einer Eingangs-/Ausgangsöffnung (40); und
    Einführen des empfangenen Medienelements in die Eingangs-/ Ausgangsöffnung (40) zur Aufbewahrung am identifizierten Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsort (80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94).
  13. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, wobei der Schritt des Einführens des empfangenen Medienelements in die Eingangs-/Ausgangsöffnung (40) den weiteren Schritt des Bewegens eines Schiebers (42) in der Eingangs-/ Ausgangsöffnung (40) zu einer Eingangsposition umfasst, an der der Schieber (42) quer zu einem Abschnitt des Aufbewahrungsbands (16) neben dem Schieber (42) ist und ein unterer Teil davon näher zur ersten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (12) ist als zur zweiten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (14).
  14. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12 oder 13, wobei der Schritt des Drehens entweder einer ersten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (12) oder einer zweiten rotierenden Medienelement-Aufbewahrungsvorrichtung (14) ferner umfasst:
