Claims (14)

  1. Gabion with a rear-side and a front-side front grid (1, 4), connected with one another by side grids (2, 3), where as the side grid (2, 3) having a lower end section (8, 9), which is connected to the remaining part of the side grids (2, 3) by at least one stiffening zone (30, 31) and which is configured by an area projecting beyond the front grids (1, 4), characterised in that the stiffening zone (30, 31) comprises transversal wires (18, 18'), which run obliquely to the lengthwise direction of the side grids (2, 3) and are provided on both sides of the side grids (2, 3).
  2. Gabion according to claim 1,
    characterised in that the end section (8, 9), with regard to the remaining part of the side grid (2, 3) is preferably bent approximately at a right angle and is positioned advantageously slightly within the zone below the front grid (1, 4).
  3. Gabion according to claim 2,
    characterised in that the bent end section (8, 9) can be fixed on the ground by at least one bottom plate (10, 20).
  4. Gabion according to claim 3,
    characterised in that the bottom plate (10) is welded onto the bent end section (8, 9).
  5. Gabion according to claim 3 or 4,
    characterised in that the bottom plate (10) with its longitudinal side wall (12') is welded at the vertical part of the side grid (2, 3).
  6. Gabion according to claim 3,
    characterised in that the bottom plate (20) is braced to the side grid (2, 3) by means of at least one counterpart (21) by interposing of the side grid (2, 3) and comprises advantageously at its underside and/or at its longitudinal side (12) grooves (13), into which wires (7) of the side grid (2, 3) engage.
  7. Gabion according to claim 1,
    characterised in that the lower end section (8, 9) can be fixed directly in the ground.
  8. Gabion according to one of the claims 1 to 7,
    characterised in that the transversal wires (18, 18') cross each other.
  9. Gabion according to one of the claims 1 to 8,
    characterised in that between the transversal wires (18, 18'), which are positioned one on top of the other along the longitudinal direction of the side grid (2, 3), there is provided at least one horizontal wire (19), respectively.
