Claims (15)

  1. Device for producing a cushion packing from one or more paper layers with a folded-together cover layer (2) which can encase at least one intermediate layer, wherein the cushion packing is provided at at least one of its longitudinal edges with inwardly directed impressions, wherein the paper layers run in the longitudinal direction thereof through the machine longitudinal direction, wherein a forming device (15, 16) is provided, in which at least one deforming tool (10, 11) is arranged, which tool engages a side edge of the cover layer (2) and has a deforming finger, which is arranged at an inclination in the height direction of the device and which is capable of performing compressing, characterised in that the surface of the deforming tool (10, 11) facing the cover layer (2) is formed to have a constant inclination.
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that two deforming tools (10, 11) are provided, which tools are driven synchronously with one another and which clamp and deform the cushion packing (7) therebetween.
  3. Device according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the deforming fingers of the deforming tools (10, 11) are oriented at least approximately parallel to one another.
  4. Device according to claim 1, 2 or 3, characterised in that the deforming tools (10, 11) are rotatably mounted and driven in opposite sense and that the deforming tools each have at least one deforming arm at which at least one deforming finger is provided.
  5. Device according to claim 4, characterised in that each deforming tool (10, 11) has two diametrically opposite deforming arms.
  6. Device according to claim 4 or 5, characterised in that each deforming arm has at the free end thereof at least two deforming fingers (13, 14).
  7. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that a cutting device (17) is arranged behind the deforming tools (10, 11).
  8. Device according to claim 7, characterised in that the cutting device (17) is arranged at the end of the forming device (15, 16).
  9. Device according to claim 8, characterised in that the cutting device (17) has a reciprocatingly moved cutting knife which works against a counter-tool arranged at the end of the forming device.
  10. Device according to claim 8 or 9, characterised in that the cutting knife is mounted to be rotatable about a fulcrum.
  11. Device according to claim 8, 9 or 10, characterised in that the cutting knife is constructed to act by gravitational force.
  12. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that an intermittently operating advancing device (18) for the still flatly disposed layer (1) is provided in front of the deforming tools (10, 11) in the direction of movement of the layer (1) or the cushion packing (7), the transport speed of the advancing device being greater than that of the deforming tools (10, 11).
  13. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that a folding device is provided, in which a cover layer (2) of the cushion packing (7) is so folded together that an at least largely closed envelope forms.
  14. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that a feed device by which at least one intermediate layer (3, 4) is introduced into the envelope is provided.
  15. Device according to one of claims 13 and 14, characterised in that a glueing device in which the two longitudinal edges (5, 6) of the cover layer (2) are glued together or to the adjacent intermediate layer is provided.
