  1. A device for supporting a guard rail on a surface,

    - the base (20) is formed by the assembly of two half-bases (36, 37), each including a central half-wing and a transverse half-wing according to a junction plane substantially corresponding to the longitudinal plane of symmetry of the base (20),
    - each half-base (36, 37) has at said junction plane two concave imprints (38, 39) corresponding to said cavities (28, 30) and the depth of which, measured perpendicularly to the junction plane, is less than half of the width of the post (29) and of the crosspiece (31), measured in a corresponding location,
    - the attachment of the two half-bases (36, 37) to each other and with the post (29) and the crosspiece (31) is accomplished by screwing with screws (40, 41) which engage into the pairs of coaxial bore holes (42, 43) made in the central half-wings, perpendicularly to the junction plane.
  2. The device according to claim 1,
    characterized in that the attachment of the post (29) and of the crosspiece (31) is completed by means of screws crossing at least one of the half-bases (36, 37) in order to be engaged on or in said post (29) or said crosspiece (31).
  3. The device according to one of claims 1 and 2,
    characterized in that the front side face (24) of the central wing (21) of each half-base (36, 37) is provided with an element (32) for supporting and attaching a plinth (33).
  4. The device according to claim 3,
    characterized in that said support and attachment element (32) has an L-shape, one of the wings (34) of which is attached through its free end on said side face (24) while the other wing (35) extends parallel to said side face (24) at a distance substantially corresponding to the thickness of the plinth (33), the space comprised between the wing (35) and the side face (24) being used for receiving the plinth (33).
  5. The device according to one of the preceding claims,
    characterized in that the concave imprint (38) corresponding to the cavity intended for the post (29) is conformed so as to receive the post (29) centered perpendicularly to the plane of the base or obliquely with respect to said plane.
  6. The device according to one of the preceding claims,
    characterized in that the concave imprint (38) corresponding to the cavity intended to receive the post (29) has a bottom, the shape of which results from the superposition of two rectangles (R1, R2) with a width equal to that of the post (29), one of these rectangles (R2) being centered perpendicularly to the plane of the base while the other one (R1) is obliquely oriented with respect to said plane.
  7. The device according to one of the preceding claims,
    characterized in that one of the aforesaid half-bases (36, 37) comprises a slightly protruding peripheral rim (44) with respect to the junction plane, which forms a joint cover.
  8. The device according to one of the preceding claims,
    characterized in that the transverse wing (22) portions of the base (20) which extend on either side of the central wing (21), comprise bore holes (45, 46) with which it is possible to ensure attachment of the base on the surface of the support where it is laid.
