Definitions

  • the present invention refers to a machine for the treatment of piece goods or textile articles, for example knitted or woven fabrics, and to the related method for their processing, both dry and wet and in bath, for example drying, washing, dyeing and finishing.
  • the present invention relates to a machine for continuous treatment of a fabric in rope form.
  • these machines are of the discontinuous type, and provide for a stock of fabric of finite length (several tens of meters) to be fed into the machine and processed, by rotating the basket for a sufficient treatment time. At the end of treatment, the machine is stopped, depressurized if necessary, opened and the treated fabric is removed therefrom to be replaced with a new fabric to be treated.
  • processing occurs by transferring a piece of fabric, whose ends are sewn to each other to form a ring, along a closed path through feed by means of a pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical or combined system. Also in this case, the piece of fabric is loaded, the machine is closed and processed for a given time. Afterwards, the machined is opened (after being depressurized if necessary), and the processed piece is extracted.
  • Discontinuous machines with rotating basket are described for example in the documents US3601903 , US3696643 , DE3934406 and EP1702095 .
  • Machines with continuous cycle have also been studied, which provide rotating baskets that process fabrics in rope form.
  • This type of machines generally comprises one or more rotating baskets, into which the fabric is fed in an inlet section, passes through the machine following a transfer path in the intermediate baskets, if provided, and is extracted gradually from the outlet section at the opposite end of the path, thus without producing a closed path inside the machine - see for example the patents US4010550 , FR2345548 , EP0495761 , EP0633340 , IT1308505 and EP1415031 .
  • the object of the invention is to provide a machine, which allows processing of a fabric, preferably a continuous fabric in rope form, which acts on the fabric with a particular mechanical effect.
  • a machine for the treatment of a fabric comprising at least one treatment drum or basket, which rotates about an axis of rotation and which has a side wall with a geometrical axis, wherein the geometrical axis is inclined with respect to the axis of rotation (i.e. non parallel to such axis of rotation), in such a way that rotation of the treatment drum about the axis of rotation causes movement of the fabric inside the drum alternatively in opposite directions between opposite ends of the drum.
  • a particularly effective mechanical treatment of the fabric In some cases this can lead to a different quality of the fabric. In other cases it is possible to obtain faster processing or a greater effect of the treatment on the fabric.
  • a machine is provided, indicate as a whole by the number 400, which comprises three treatment baskets or drums 430, 450, and 470 aligned along a feed path F1 of a fabric T. Between adjacent drums transfer systems 519 are arranged to extract the fabric T from the drum upstream and transfer it to the drum downstream.
  • each treatment drum 430, 450, and 470 rotates about an approximately horizontal common rotation axis 200X, extending along the direction F1 of feed of the fabric, to perform the treatment on the fabric.
  • each treatment drum or sector 430, 450, 470 has a substantially cylindrical side wall 495 which defines a substantially cylindrical inner surface S for containing the fabric.
  • the geometrical axis or axis Z of symmetry of the side wall of each drum 430, 450, 470 is inclined with respect to the axis 200X of rotation.
  • the two axes Z and 200X are incident, i.e. they intersect, but it is also possible that these two axes are slightly skewed, i.e. they do not lie on the same plane.
  • the substantially cylindrical inner surface S is formed by a cylindrical wall 495 having a plurality of holes and fixed at its ends (for example through welds) to flanges 480, 490 comprising cylindrical walls 480C and 490C coaxial with the axis 200X of rotation of the treatment sectors 430, 450, 470.
  • the cylindrical walls 480C, 490C rest on wheels or rollers 9A keyed on shafts 9B of a system to transmit the rotation motion to the treatment baskets or sectors 430, 450, 470.
  • Number 10 indicates an actuating motor for actuating the shaft 9B.
  • the rollers or wheels 9A can be replaced with gear wheels engaging with crown wheels obtained on or integral with the cylindrical walls 480C, 490C.
  • the walls 495 forming the treatment sectors or drums 430, 450, 470 can be positioned inside cylindrical bodies with a geometrical axis substantially coincident with the axis 200X, instead of being simply provided with end flanges 480, 490.
  • the outer cylindrical bodies are preferably perforated to allow circulation of air or other treatment fluids.
  • Each drum 430, 450, 470 has an inlet aperture I and an outlet aperture O for the fabric.
  • these apertures I and O are arranged approximately coaxial and approximately at the level of the axis 200X of rotation.
  • transfer devices 519 are provided, represented in a very schematic manner merely by way of example.
  • these transfer devices can comprise one or more reels, or a pneumatic or hydraulic transfer system.
  • the transfer device comprises pairs of rollers, at least one of which is motorized, supported on shafts oriented at approximately 90° with respect to the axis 200X of rotation of the drum, as shown in the example illustrated in figure 1 .
  • the pair of rollers of each device 519 can be supported integrally with the drum 430 or 450 or 470 arranged downstream or arranged upstream of the transfer device.
  • the pairs of rollers can rotate integrally with the respective drum 430, 450, 470, so as to prevent or reduce the formation of torsions in the fabric T.
  • Rotation of the rollers 25, 26 about the respective axes, to cause feed of the fabric can be obtained when the transfer device 519 is in a given angular position, in correspondence of which a coupling is provided between an output shaft of the transfer device 519 and a drive shaft of a motorization (not shown) integral with the fixed structure of the machine.
  • feed of the fabric from one to the other of the treatment drums 430, 450, 470 occurs during the time intervals in which the drums do not rotate about the axis 200X.
  • Other embodiments are also possible, in which through a collector energy is conveyed to motors rotating integrally with the treatment device 519, so as to control feed of the fabric during rotation of the drums 430, 450, 470 about the axis 200X.
  • the transfer devices 519 can be bidirectional, i.e. controlled in such a way as to transfer the fabric from one treatment sector or drum to the other in one direction and in the opposite direction, for example to prolong the treatment time.
  • the main advantage of the treatment drums or sectors configured as illustrated in figure 1 consists in that by rotating the drum about the axis 200X inclined with respect to the geometrical axis Z, the stock of fabric which is inside it is subjected, due to the effect of gravity and of rotation, to a forward and backward movement according to the arrow Ff inside this drum.
  • the fabric is all collected in the lowest point of each drum 430, 450, 470 which is the point farthest to the right in the drawing
  • the fabric is moved from right to left, as the lowest point of each treatment basket or sector 430, 450, 470 will be, at this point, at the extreme left of each sector.
  • the stock of fabric is impacted forwards and backwards due to the effect of this change in the level of the inner surface of the basket, also being subjected to a mechanical effect due to the component of motion of the drum in circumferential direction about the axis 200X, a mechanical effect this latter which is the sole effect obtained in conventional machines, in which the geometrical axis of the drum coincides with the axis of rotation.
  • the movement of the fabric caused by reciprocal inclination between the axes Z and 200X can be better understood from the sequence of figures 1 , 2 and 3 , where figure 2 shows one of the treatment drums or sectors of figure 1 after a 90° rotation and figure 3 shows the same sector rotated by further 90° and therefore by a total angle equal to 180° with respect to the position of figure 1 .
  • the stock of fabric T contained inside the represented treatment sector or drum has moved from right to left during this rotation. Continuing rotation in the same direction or also in alternating directions of the treatment sector, a forward and backward movement of the fabric is obtained between the head walls of the treatment sector, in addition to the normal movement due to rotation.
  • the cylindrical walls 495 can be provided with ribs or other elements radially projecting towards the inside of the basket and shaped in an adequate manner to obtain a mechanical action on the fabric being treated.
  • the machine described above can be advantageously provided with a system to feed the fabric being inserted, indicated as a whole with the number 601 and comprising a ring 603 through which the fabric T passes which, unwound from a reel or roll R on which it is wound in open width, is arranged in rope form before being inserted in the first drum 430 of the machine 400.
  • one of the transfer devices 519 is provided at the outlet of the machine. It is also possible to provide a different system for extracting the fabric, for example a reel, an unwinder unit with rope opener or other known members, through which the fabric passes and is opened and extended.
  • the systems for inserting and extracting the fabric in and from the machine 400 are controlled in such a way that each portion of the fabric T remains in the machine for the time necessary for the treatment and when the transfer devices 519 are bidirectional, the fabric can be moved forwards and backwards in the machine through said devices with speeds that are substantially higher than the feed/delivery speed.
  • the feed/delivery movement can be continuous or intermittent.
  • the machine can be designed for dry, wet or in bath treatments, or also for combined treatments, for example for different treatments in the various sectors or drums.
  • the machine is configured to perform a drying treatment with hot air, with simultaneous movement of all the drums.
  • the machine can present (alternatively or in combination with the air circuit) a circuit for a treatment liquid, of known type and not described in greater detail.
  • FIGS. 4 and 5 show a modified embodiment of the invention.
  • the same numbers are used to indicate identical or equivalent parts to those in figures 1-3 .
  • the machine has only two drums 430, 450, mutually integral and substantially forming a single basket rotating about the axis 200X.
  • Each treatment sector or drum 430 has a further substantially cylindrical wall 495 with a geometrical axis Z inclined with respect to the axis 200X of rotation.
  • the two figures show the drum in two angular positions staggered by 180° to show the forward and backward movement due to the effect of gravity of the stock of fabric T in each of the two treatment drums or sectors 430,450.
  • I and O indicate the inlet and outlet apertures of the fabric
  • 601 and 602 indicate the units for inserting and extracting the fabric in and from the machine, indicated again as a whole with the number 400.
  • the transfer device 519 with the rollers 25, 26 is arranged, which rotates integrally with the drums 430, 450.
  • Rotation is obtained through a motor 10 which transmits motion to gears or pinions 9A keyed on a drive shaft 9B and which engage with crown wheels 9C integral with the drums 430, 450 and coaxial with the axis 200X of rotation of the drums.
  • Figure 6 shows a modified embodiment in which a single drum 430 is provided with an approximately cylindrical wall 495 with geometrical axis Z inclined with respect to the rotation axis 200X.
  • the same numbers indicate the same or equivalent parts to those in the previous examples of embodiment.
  • two transfer devices 519 are provided, respectively at the inlet and the outlet of the treatment drum or sector 495. These devices 519 can rotate integrally with the drum 430 and if necessary can be combined with other systems 601 and 602 for inserting and extracting the fabric.
  • FIG. 7 shows a further modified embodiment, in which the same numbers indicate again the same or equivalent parts to those in the previous examples of embodiment.
  • two independent treatment drums or sectors 430, 450 are provided, each provided with its own motor 10A, 10B to control rotation thereof about the axis 200X.
  • a common axis of rotation is provided, but it is also possible for the two drums to rotate about non-coincident axes, for example parallel, inclined or skewed.
  • Each drum 430, 450 is again formed by a substantially cylindrical wall 495 with a geometrical axis Z inclined with respect to the axis 200X of rotation.
  • the transfer device 519 is in this case indicated by way of example carried by a support fixed with respect to the structure of the machine.
  • the walls 495 are of cylindrical shape and are provided with holes or apertures. It should be however understood that other configurations are also possible, for example without holes, or with partially perforated and partially non-perforated walls.
  • the shape of the side walls can be also different, for example parallelepipedal or prismatic with non rectangular cross section.
  • the wall 495 can have pentagonal, hexagonal, octagonal cross section, or even with a greater number of sides. What is important is solely the fact that the geometrical axis of the part 495 of each drum is inclined with respect to the axis of rotation of the drum itself.
  • the lateral wall 495 may be of different shape for the various drums and/or for one or more drums to be conventionally arranged with the geometrical axis thereof parallel to and/or coincident with the axis of rotation, said drums being combined with one or more drums with geometrical axis inclined as described above.
