Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for packaging and applying a product, and in particular a cosmetic product.
  • US 3,331,094 and US 5,568,990 disclose packaging and application devices provided with valves for automatically closing the dispensing orifice of the product when the device is not used.
  • US 3,281,887 discloses a device comprising a valve which, at rest, tends to keep open the dispensing orifice of the product, the closed position resulting from the introduction of a protective cap.
  • the open and closed positions are stable, i.e., can be maintained without the exercise of force, by a user or a cap.
  • No. 5,547,303 discloses a packaging and application device for the distribution of ketchup or mustard.
  • the dispensing orifice of this device may be selectively open or closed. After closure, a certain volume of product, called “retention volume”, however, remains exposed to the outside and may be damaged if not used quickly, which can lead to soiling and loss of product. In addition, when drying, this product can clog the dispensing orifice.
  • the devices described in WO 01/21499 , DE 1928880 and EP 0 265 784 allow to close the dispensing orifice of the product by means of a rod-shaped shutter fixed on a protective cap, which limits the retention volume. Closing the dispensing orifice from the outside, by means of the cap, is however not practical. In addition, in the closed position of the dispensing orifice, the device is unusable. Finally, the hood is detachable and can always be lost or lost.
  • US 3,520,453 describes a device comprising a container and a stopper closing the neck of the container.
  • the cap is provided with one or more eccentric dispensing orifices in which the distal end of the container neck penetrates more or less deeply, depending on the desired flow rate.
  • US 4,974,727 discloses a device comprising a chamber (36) provided with a skirt (37) pierced with slots (51) and that in the open position, the bottom of the skirt must be located lower than the top of the shutter (column 8, lines 19 to 29) to ensure that the liquid in the reservoir can flow from the reservoir into the chamber (36) only through the slots.
  • this object is achieved by means of a device for packaging and applying a product according to claim 1.
  • the proximity of the distal end of the shutter and the opening allows, in the closed position, to minimize or even eliminate the volume of product retention in the dispensing orifice downstream of the shutter.
  • the invention therefore advantageously makes it possible to limit the risks of degradation of the product.
  • the mobility of the shutter between the open and closed positions leads to a displacement of the shutter within the dispensing orifice, which promotes the cleaning of the latter and avoids clogging.
  • the shutter is preferably housed at least partly, preferably completely, in the applicator head in the closed position.
  • the applicator makes it possible to expose the aperture or the applicator element to the outside in the closed position. This can promote the drying of the application element after cleaning with water, for example, without fear of degradation of the product.
  • the distal end of the obturator is preferably less than 5 mm, more preferably less than 2 mm from the opening. Preferably, it is flush with said opening.
  • the retention volume is then minimal.
  • the distal end of the shutter extends inside the dispensing orifice, that is to say that the shutter does not protrude outside the opening.
  • the risk of injury during the application of the product is reduced. This can facilitate cleaning and reduce the risk of discomfort to use.
  • the dispensing orifice may open directly outwards, that is to say not be covered by an applicator element, for example by a foam. The user can accurately measure the amount of product to apply.
  • the distal end of the shutter is visible from the outside in the closed position. Access to the shutter is facilitated, which simplifies cleaning operations. The manufacture of the device can also be easier.
  • the distal end of the shutter may be visible, in the closed position, after removal of the applicator element.
  • the shutter, the dispensing orifice and the opening are shaped so as to define, in the closed position, a retention volume preferably less than 30 mm 3 , better still less than 20 mm 3 .
  • the retention volume is configured so that, when the X axis is vertical, the majority of the product that would be present in this volume flows by gravity.
  • the risk of clogging of the dispensing orifice is thus further reduced.
  • the inclination of the opening relative to the axis of the dispensing orifice improves the comfort of use of the device according to the invention, and may be chosen according to the region to be treated.
  • the opening is preferably inclined with respect to the X axis of the dispensing orifice by an angle of between 30 and 60 degrees, preferably about 45 degrees.
  • the dispensing orifice may be substantially cylindrical, at least near the opening, and the opening have a contour corresponding to a cutting the dispensing orifice along a plane inclined relative to the axis of this orifice, but not perpendicular to this axis.
  • the opening has an oval outline.
  • the applicator head has only a single opening.
  • the applicator head preferably comprises an applicator element holder intended to carry an applicator element and having a front surface, preferably substantially flat, on which the orifice distribution opens through the opening.

  • the seal between the container and the outside provided by the shutter is exclusively near, preferably in contact with, the opening. Sealing is thus obtained only when the closed position is reached, which means that, during the transition from the open position to the closed position, the product contained in said swept volume can escape to the outside, but also towards the container, which limits the piston effect.
  • the outward opening of the dispensing orifice is directed upwardly when the device is disposed with the applicator head above the container, which means that; during said transition, the product advantageously tends, by gravity, to return to the container rather than out to the outside.
  • the shutter may comprise a needle having a conical or frustoconical portion.
  • a generatrix of this conical or frustoconical portion extends along said opening.
  • the shutter and the applicator head may be shaped to allow rotation of the applicator head around the shutter without changing the open or closed position. shutter, and preferably without modification of the seal between the different parts of the device, in particular, if necessary, between the shutter and the dispensing orifice.
  • a conical or frustoconical shape of the distal end of the shutter is particularly suitable.
  • the axis of the conical or frustoconical portion then corresponds to the axis of rotation of the applicator head around the shutter.

  • the user can then tilt the container 12 so that the applicator 14 is under the container 12, the front surface 98 of the applicator head 16 being oriented upwards.
  • the product contained in the container then descends, by gravity, towards the neck of the container 20. It then enters the chimney 40, passes through the passages 76 of the shutter 60, then between the needle 70 and the lateral surface 97 of the the dispensing orifice 96, and reaches the opening 100 (arrows F).
  • the front surface 98 facing upwards, prevents the product from falling out of the opening 100.
  • the user can squeeze the container.
  • the user can close the device by pushing the applicator head 16 towards the container up to the low position shown on the figure 6 and apply the product.
  • the free end 108 of the dispensing duct 92 abuts on the bases 66 of the tabs 64 of the shutter 60, which prevents any movement of the applicator head 16 downwards beyond this position.
  • the neck 94 extends along the chimney 40, to the base 42 of the latter, but without coming into contact with the arch 36 of the dressing skirt 26.
  • the collar 94 thus masks the chimney 40 while avoiding a support on the vault 36 likely to deform it. Such support would also lead to local wear, aesthetically damaging, due to the rotation of the applicator head 16 on the support 18.
  • shutter 60 thus prevents any output of the product through the opening 100 and is therefore in a "closed" position.
  • the needle 70 is close to the opening 100.
  • the retention volume V defined by the upper cylindrical portion 102 of the dispensing orifice, the needle 70 and the opening 100, is therefore very small. Limiting the retention volume V is particularly useful when the product is intended to be applied to the skin. Indeed, the volume of retention is an ideal place for the proliferation of bacteria since it is likely to find product, washing water if the applicator has been cleaned, and heat.
  • the tip 75 of the shutter, and even a generatrix of the conical portion 74 are flush with said opening 100, that is to say extend in the plane of this opening. There is therefore no part of the shutter protruding outside the opening 100, which limits the risk of injury during application of the product.
  • the applicator head 16 can rotate freely around the chimney 40. This possibility of rotating the applicator head 16 is particularly advantageous in an application requiring good accuracy on a curved or left surface, for example on the skin of a face.
  • the conical end of the shutter and the relationship between the apex angle ⁇ and the inclination ⁇ of the applicator element holder advantageously allow the needle 70 to never protrude outside the opening 100 when the applicator head 16 rotates about the axis X.
  • a generatrix of the conical portion 74 is always flush with the opening 100. The safety of the user is therefore preserved.
  • the rotation of the applicator head about the X axis does not eliminate the contact, according to an annular sealing surface, between the lateral surface of the cylindrical portion 72 and the lateral surface of the dispensing orifice. 96.
  • the device according to the invention therefore allows the user to apply the product after closing the device without risk of injury.
  • the inclination of the applicator element holder 90 with respect to the axis X of the container 12 also offers a very appreciable comfort of use. If necessary, the user can, by simply pulling on the applicator head and pressing on the container, quickly renew the dose of product available on the front surface of the application element holder.
  • the user After applying the product, for example on his face, the user can finally rinse the applicator head, without the risk of getting cleaning liquid into the container.
  • the invention provides a device for packaging and application allowing a comfortable product application, without risk of injury, under optimal hygiene conditions and which can be used both in the open position and in the closed position.
  • the shutter does not necessarily have a conical portion, the latter being especially useful when a free rotation of the applicator head on the support in the closed and / or open position is desired. Otherwise, it is preferable for the shutter to terminate in an end face 115, preferably substantially flat, which, in the closed position, is coplanar with the front surface 98 of the application element holder 90 (see FIG. Figures 7 and 8 ).
  • the dispensing orifice is cylindrical, for example of circular cross section, and opens on a front surface inclined at an angle ⁇ relative to the axis of the dispensing orifice
  • a cylindrical punch 70 of shape complementary to the dispensing orifice 96 and whose distal base is cut along a plane inclined at an angle ⁇ with the axis of this cylinder is perfectly adapted, as shown in FIGS. Figures 7 and 8 , provided that the angular position of the head applicator on the support is such that, in the closed position, the end face 115 inclined extends in the plane of the opening.
  • the end face 115 of the shutter completely closes the opening 100 in the closed position.
  • the retention volume is then substantially zero.
  • the movement of the applicator head 16 on the support 18 could be guided by means of a helical thread, for example to the outer lateral surface of the chimney 40. To open the device, the user should therefore no longer pull the applicator head, but turn it to unscrew it.
