Definitions

  • the invention relates to the connection of a sanitary installation object such as in particular a tub or a basin to a wall and a method for producing such a connection.
  • Sanitary installation objects such as washbasins, shower trays or bathtubs are usually placed with a part of their edge immediately in front of a room wall, wherein the non-concealed part of the room wall is then tiled.
  • an elastic sound insulation strip is advantageously arranged in order to prevent the direct transmission of structure-borne noise to the wall.
  • the joint between the installation object and tiles usually with a permanently elastic material such. B. silicone sealed.
  • the DE 201 21 477 U1 a sealing tape with a film-like carrier strip, on the room-side front side parallel to each other two spaced sealing strands are arranged.
  • the sealing strands are glued around the edge of a tub rim, while the carrier strip and a reinforcing strip projecting upwards stand vertically above the edge of the tub.
  • the sealing tape is rotated 180 °, with the outer sealing strand adhered to the upper horizontal tub edge and the inner sealing strand adhered to the vertically downturned leg of the tub rim, and with the carrier strip and the reinforcing strip extending from the tub edge extend down. Behind the tiles located above the tub no part of the sealing strip is arranged in this case.
  • the joint tape prevents liquid penetrating up to the sealing strip from being pulled upwards against the force of gravity by capillary action and reaching beyond the edge of the sealing strip.
  • a capillary transport is exerted, for example, by tile adhesive with which tiles are fastened to the wall above the installation object.
  • the arrangement of an over the edge of the built-article standing out seal strip alone is therefore not sufficient to safely prevent the ingress of moisture to the underlying wall.
  • this is achieved by the capillary stop means.
  • the capillary stop means may in particular comprise a capillary stop band, i. H. a strip of material extending in the longitudinal direction of the joint strip, which is arranged (usually spaced from the trough fastening means) on the sealing strip and in which no liquid ascension by capillary action is possible.
  • the Kapillarstoppband may in particular be arranged at the upper edge of the sealing strip and optionally stand on this edge upwards.
  • the aforementioned "liquid ascent by capillary action” refers to the direction from the tub attachment means to the capillary stop band, i. H. in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the joint tape. As a rule, this is the vertical direction in the assembled state of the joint tape.
  • the capillary stop band will typically be impermeable in any direction for the capillary transport of liquid.
  • the capillary stop means may additionally or alternatively to the mentioned capillary stop band also comprise a release strip detachable from the sealing strip.
  • a release strip detachable from the sealing strip.
  • Kapillarwege through the tile adhesive over the upper edge of the Seal strip also be effectively interrupted in this way.
  • the width of the peel strip should be chosen so that the desired interruption effect is sufficiently guaranteed without removing too much tile adhesive. Typically, therefore, the width of the peel strip is in a range of about 5 mm to 30 mm, more preferably about 10 mm.
  • Such a wall connection can be generated particularly easily with a joint tape of the type described.
  • it can also be made in a variety of other ways, for example by using a separate weather strip, a separate Kapillarstoppbandes and the required connecting means (adhesive layers, etc.).
  • the wall connection thus has the advantage that it both on the one hand with the installation object and on the other hand with the underlying wall connected is. Therefore, if liquid gets beyond the top edge of the weather strip, it can not migrate down the back of the weather strip since the weather strip is bonded to the wall. As mentioned, it is of course particularly advantageous if in addition a capillary stop means is provided, which prevents the advance of liquid to the upper edge of the joint strip from the outset or reduced to a minimum.
  • the capillary stop band is formed with a thickness which corresponds at least to the thickness of a (typical) tile adhesive layer.
  • the Kapillarstoppband may have a thickness of more than 1 mm, preferably more than 2 mm. If, as usual, wall tiles are placed above the fixture on the wall, the stated thicknesses of the capillary stop tape ensure that the capillary stop tape extends in a space-filling manner from the wall to the tile, thus leaving no room for another layer of tile adhesive.
  • Such a layer of tile adhesive running parallel to the capillary stop band could in fact represent a moisture bridge, via which possibly water could ascend past the capillary stop band by capillary action.
  • the Kapillarstoppband different materials are suitable, provided that they ensure the desired interruption of Kapillartransportes of moisture.
  • the Kapillarstoppband consist of a closed-cell foam, such as a polyethylene foam.
  • the closed porosity of the foam ensures that there are no capillary paths through the material and that the material is elastic at the same time. The latter is important in order to be able to compress the capillary stop band to the thickness of the respective tile adhesive layer if necessary.
  • the sealing strip on the room side at least partially have an adhesion-promoting structure, in particular a non-woven structure.
  • a tile adhesive can then be applied to such a structure and adhere, so that tiles can also be glued to the weather strip.
  • the trough fastening means and / or the wall fastening means may in particular comprise a self-adhesive strip, which typically (in the case of the separate joint tape) is covered by a peel-off protective strip until it is installed on site.
  • the tray attachment means and / or wall attachment means may also comprise a hot melt adhesive which is suitably applied between the weather strip and the installation article or wall.
  • a sound-absorbing profile can be arranged in the region of the tub fastening means.
  • the sound-absorbing profile can be integrated, for example, in the joint tape. However, it may also be a separate product, which is first attached to the edge of the installation object and then in turn the trough fastening means are attached.
  • the soundproofing profile prevents or reduces the transmission of structure-borne noise between the installation object and the wall.
  • the interruption of the adhesive layer in front of the sealing strip prevents capillary transport of liquid through the adhesive layer beyond the sealing strip.
  • the strip-shaped region can be produced in various ways, for example by paying attention from the outset when applying the adhesive layer that no adhesive gets into this region. It is easier to apply an adhesive layer over the entire surface first and then remove the adhesive in the strip-shaped area again, as long as it is not cured. The latter method can be carried out very clean and comfortable with the help of a strip on the sealing strip. The release of this AbziehstMails then automatically removes a correspondingly wide strip of the adhesive layer.
  • FIG. 1 shows schematically and partially in section a bathtub 10, which is installed with two sides in a corner of a wall 20, wherein the wall 20 is covered in the finished state above the tub by tiles 21.
  • the preparation of the wall connection for the tub 10 using a joint strip 40 according to the invention will be described below with reference to the FIGS. 1 to 3 explained in more detail.
  • FIG. 4 It is shown how the tub 10 has been moved to its installation position on the wall 22.
  • the sound-absorbing profile 30 and the joint tape 40 come into contact with their adhesive layers, so that the joint tape 40 is sealingly connected to the sound-insulating profile 30 - and therefore also to the edge of the bath.
  • a tile 21 is glued in front of the wall 22 over layers 23a, 23b of tile adhesive.
  • the latter may be provided on the room side with an adhesion-promoting structure (for example a fleece).
  • an adhesion-promoting structure for example a fleece.
  • the Kapillarstoppband 43 is at least as thick as the layers of tile adhesive 23a, 23b, so that it is space-filling between the wall 22 and tile 21 and there leaves no more space for tile adhesive.
  • the capillary stopband 43 is elastic and slightly thicker than the final tile adhesive layer so that it will be slightly compressed in the assembled state.
  • FIG. 4 further shows the sealing of the transition between trough 10 and tile 21 by a permanently elastic material 24, for example silicone. As long as this silicone joint 24 adheres to both the tub 10 and the tile 21, the connection area is protected against the ingress of moisture to the wall 22.
  • a permanently elastic material 24 for example silicone.
  • FIG. 5 shows the connection area of FIG. 4 as it typically appears after a long time (usually a few years).
  • the silicone joint 24 is torn. Due to the resulting gap 25 moisture can therefore penetrate towards the wall.
  • the weather strip 42 of the joint tape prevents this moisture can penetrate directly into the wall.
  • the bonding of the sealing strip 42 with the sound insulation profile or the edge of the tub prevents the moisture from being able to penetrate further downwards. Due to a capillary action in the tile adhesive 23b, however, it is possible for the moisture to rise upwards in front of the sealing strip 42 against the force of gravity.
  • FIGS. 6 to 9 a second embodiment of a joint tape 140 according to the invention is shown, wherein the same or denoted by 100 reference numerals designate identical or similar parts as in the preceding figures.
  • the joint tape 140 may be provided with further components, for example a wall-side adhesive layer at the upper edge (corresponding to layer 44 of the first joint strip 40) and / or a sound insulation profile on the room side or wall side.
  • FIG. 7 shows the joint tape 140 after it has been glued with its lower adhesive layer 141 to the folded, vertical edge of a trough 10.
  • a sound insulation (not shown) by, for example, it is glued to the back of the joint tape 140.
  • FIG. 9 a shows in perspective a shower tray 10 with glued joint tape 140 after reaching the wall and after full-surface application of a tile adhesive layer 23 on the wall from the top of the tub 10.
  • the tile adhesive layer 23 initially covers the entire over the tub rim upstanding part of the sealing strip 142 including the Stripping strip 143 from.
  • the release strip 143 is released from the weather strip of the joint strip, thereby removing the portion of the tile adhesive present on that strip. In this way, a continuous, tile-free strip 143 '( FIG. 8 ) generated.
  • FIG. 9 b shows the installation process after application of tiles 21 on the tile adhesive 23rd
  • FIG. 8 represents a cross section through the finished wall connection, which was prepared by means of a joint strip 140.
  • the sealing strip 142 of the joint strip 140 rests directly on the wall 22 and is glued in the lower region at the edge of the trough 10.
  • tile adhesive is present in layers 23a and 23b, which are separated from each other by an adhesive-free cavity or strip 143 '. As explained above, this strip 143 'has been produced by removing the release liner 143 from the original joint tape.
  • a tile 21 is applied, wherein the joint between tile 21 and trough 10 is sealed with a silicone strip 24.
