Definitions
- the invention relates to a high-frequency filter in coaxial design, in particular in the manner of a high-frequency filter (such as duplexer) or a band-pass filter or band-stop filter.
- a high-frequency filter such as duplexer
- a band-pass filter or band-stop filter such as duplexer
- a common antenna is often used for transmit and receive signals.
- the transmit and receive signals each use different frequency ranges, and the antenna must be suitable for transmitting and receiving in both frequency ranges.
- a suitable frequency filtering is required, with the one hand, the transmission signals from the transmitter to the antenna and on the other hand, the received signals are forwarded from the antenna to the receiver.
- inter alia high-frequency filters in coaxial design are used today.
- a pair of high frequency filters may be used, both of which are a particular frequency band let through (bandpass filter).
- a pair of high frequency filters may be used, both of which block a particular frequency band (bandstop filter).
- a pair of high frequency filters may be used, one of which passes frequencies below a frequency between transmit and receive bands and blocks frequencies above that frequency (low pass filter), and the other filter blocks frequencies below a frequency between transmit and receive bands and overlying Passing frequencies (high pass filter).
- Other combinations of the just mentioned filter types are conceivable.
- High-frequency filters are often constructed from coaxial resonators, since they consist of milling or casting parts, whereby they are easy to produce. In addition, these resonators ensure a high electrical quality and a relatively high temperature stability.
- This filter comprises a resonator with a cylindrical inner conductor and a cylindrical outer conductor, wherein between a free end of the inner conductor and a lid attached to the outer conductor, a capacitance is formed, which influences the. Resonant frequency has.
- the resonator comprises a tuning element of dielectric material, with which the resonance frequency of the filter is adjustable. The tuning element is movable in the inner conductor of the resonator, whereby the capacitance between the free end of the inner conductor and the lid of the resonator is changed and thereby varies the resonant frequency.
- a generic filter is known, for example, from "Patent Abstracts of Japan Vol. 011, No. 343 (E-555), Nov. 10, 1987 (1987-11-10) & JP 62 123801 A (MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC Ind. Co. Ltd.), June 5, 1987 (1987-06-05).
- "It is a filter according to the preamble of claim 1, which has a screw for adjusting the high-frequency filter, which passes through a cover of the high-frequency filter and can be adjusted by turning in its axial position facing the inner conductor is on the front side the screw provided a dielectric. By tightening and loosening the screw, the dielectric is adjusted in its relative position to the underlying inner conductor, so that the distance formed between the underside of the dielectric and the front-side top of the inner conductor tube and thus the resonance frequency can be changed.
- Object of the present invention is therefore to provide a high-frequency filter in coaxial design, which has a high dielectric strength at the same time low volume.
- the high-frequency filter comprises an electrically conductive inner conductor embodied as an inner conductor tube, an electrically conductive outer conductor and an electrically conductive base which electrically connects the inner conductor and the outer conductor to one another. Furthermore, a lid is provided which covers the high frequency filter from the ground. The lid has an inside and outside with the inside facing a free end of the inner conductor tube.
- a dielectric layer with a relative dielectric constant greater than 2 is arranged between the outside of the cover and the free end of the inner conductor tube. The radial extent of the dielectric layer essentially covers the cross section of the inner conductor tube at its free end.
- Such a dielectric layer becomes due to the high dielectric constant an increase in the capacity and thus a reduction in the resonant frequency achieved without increasing the volume of construction. Moreover, since the dielectric layer covers substantially the entire cross section of the inner conductor tube, the dielectric strength between the inner conductor tube and the lid is improved.
- the dielectric layer is inserted in a receptacle in the inside of the lid.
- the dielectric layer may be held in the receptacle by positive locking, in particular by an edge projecting beyond the edge of the dielectric layer on the inside of the cover.
- the dielectric layer may be held on the inside of the lid by adhesive, in particular adhesive.
- the dielectric layer terminates with the inside of the lid.
- the dielectric layer used is a high-dielectric material having a relative dielectric constant of greater than or equal to 5, preferably greater than or equal to 8, particularly preferably greater than or equal to 9.
- materials of much higher dielectric constant such as materials having a relative dielectric constant greater than or equal to 40, may be used.
- the constant may be between 40 and 80 or between 60 and 80.
- materials with high dielectric constants are for the dielectric layer z.
- ceramic materials used in particular alumina ceramic.
- the area of the radial extent of the dielectric layer is at least 2 times the area of the cross section of the inner conductor tube at its free end.
- a large coverage of the inner conductor tube is achieved with dielectric material, so that a very high dielectric strength is ensured.
- the cross section of the inner conductor tube is substantially circular at its free end.
- the radial extent of the dielectric layer may be substantially circular. If both the cross section of the inner conductor tube at its free end and the radial extension of the dielectric layer are circular, in a preferred variant of the invention the diameter of the radial extension is at least as large as the diameter of the cross section. Preferably, the diameter of the radial extent is at least 1.5 times the diameter of the cross section.
- the outer conductor may also have a substantially circular cross-section, the diameter of which is preferably at least twice the diameter of the radial extent of the dielectric layer.
- the high-frequency filter has a plurality of resonators, wherein a single continuous, at least partially strip-shaped dielectric layer is provided for all resonators.
- the high-frequency filter according to the invention is preferably designed such that a duplexer is formed by the design and coupling of the resonators.
- a duplexer is formed by the design and coupling of the resonators.
- an embodiment as a bandpass filter or Bandsperrfilter conceivable.
- FIG. 1 shows the side view of a resonator for use in a high-frequency filter according to the invention. It is a resonator in coaxial design, which extends along the axis A.
- the resonator comprises an electrically conductive cylindrical inner conductor tube 1, the lower end 1b of which is inserted in a base 3.
- the bottom 3 is also cylindrical and on its outer edge connected to a cylindrical outer conductor tube 2. Over the bottom 3, an electrically conductive connection between outer conductor tube 2 and inner conductor tube 1 is produced.
- On the outer tube is a cover 5 with the inside 5a and the outside 5b.
- a black dielectric 6 is used on the inside 5a.
- the dielectric lies opposite a free end 1a of the inner conductor tube 1.
- the distance 4 between the lid 5 and the free end 1a of the inner conductor tube 1 is usually 3 to 4 mm and can be reduced to 0.5 mm.
- the dielectric layer terminates with the inside of the lid. It is also possible that the dielectric layer protrudes from the inside of the lid or the inside of the lid protrudes beyond the dielectric layer.
- the resonator of Figure 1 arises at resonance at the free end 1a, a voltage increase, wherein the amount of voltage is proportional to the signal power with which the resonator is acted upon.
- the top of the free end of the inner conductor tube 1 and the inner side 5a of the lid form a plate capacitor whose capacitance C roof is directly proportional to the relative dielectric constant ⁇ r of the material between the capacitor.
- high-dielectric material 6 with a relative dielectric constant ⁇ r is used, which lies clearly above air.
- the relative dielectric constant has values above 40. This means that the capacity C roof - in contrast to conventional resonators - is very high.
- f represents the resonant frequency of the resonator
- L the inductance of the resonator
- C the capacitance of the resonator
- C roof the described parallel capacitance at the top of the resonator.
- the higher the C roof the lower the resonance frequency.
- a resonator with a low resonance frequency can thus be created.
- resonators with low resonance frequencies have not been achieved by the use of a dielectric, but by reducing the distance between the lid and the free end of the inner conductor tube. The reduction of this distance, however, limits are set, since this greatly reduces the dielectric strength of the resonator.
- resonators of the prior art alternatively use wider inner conductor tubes, which also reduces the resonant frequency. However, this leads to a larger resonator volume and thus to higher material and processing costs.
- a low resonance frequency a high dielectric strength and a low overall volume can be achieved.
- FIG. 2 shows a plan view of the resonator of FIG. 1. It can be seen here in particular that the inner conductor tube 1 and the outer conductor tube 2 are of cylindrical design. In addition, the radial extent of the dielectric layer 6, whose circular Edge in Figure 2 is denoted by 6 '. So that a high dielectric strength is given even at small distances between free end 1a of the inner conductor tube and the cover 5, the diameter d 1 of the dielectric layer is greater than the diameter d 2 of the cross section of the inner conductor tube. Preferably, the diameter d 1 is 1.5 times the diameter d 2 .
- the diameter d 3 of the outer conductor tube is substantially larger than the diameter d 1 and d 2 . In a preferred variant, the diameter d 3 is twice as large as the diameter d 1 .
- FIG. 3 shows a plan view of a modification of the resonator of FIG. 2.
- the outer conductor 2 is not cylindrical, but substantially square with rounded corners.
- the shape of the inner conductor 1 and the dielectric layer 6 is furthermore cylindrical or circular.
- the inner conductor tube or the dielectric layer have other shapes, in particular they can also be designed square. It is only necessary to ensure that the radial extent of the dielectric layer has at least one size which corresponds to the cross-sectional area of the inner conductor tube.
- Figure 4 shows a plan view of a possible embodiment of the inner side 5a of the lid 5 of Figure 1.
- the inside of the lid is shown hatched. It can be seen that an inner edge 5 'of the lid projects beyond the dielectric layer 6.
- a retention of the dielectric layer in the receptacle of the cover 5 is ensured by means of positive locking.
- the dielectric layer 6 may be glued in the receptacle.
- FIG. 5 shows the top view of a bandpass filter in which four of the resonators of FIG. 3 are used, the cover of the resonators not being shown.
- the outer conductors of the individual resonators are connected to each other via aperture 7, so that an entire circumferential housing 2 'is formed.
- the degree of coupling is determined by the distance between the resonators and the size of the aperture.
- the center frequency of the bandpass filter is proportional to the length of the inner conductor tube first
- FIG. 6 shows a sectional view of the bandpass filter according to FIG. 5 along the line I-I, the cover of the bandpass filter being mounted on the upper side. It can be seen that a continuous cover 5 "rests on the upper side of the housing 2 '.
- a dielectric layer 6 is again provided opposite the free end 1a of the respective inner conductor 1, by means of which the dielectric strength and the size of the bandpass filter Alternatively, a single continuous dielectric layer may be provided in the form of a strip, the strip extending longitudinally of the housing 2 'and having a width such that each inner conductor tube is covered by the strip.
