Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method according to the preamble of claim 1 and an apparatus for performing the method according to the preamble of claim 5.
- the monitoring of load values of the lower extremities is important with regard to healing processes after fractures, operations, the installation of prostheses or surgical corrections for an optimized healing process.
- this stress value is measured by means of a personal scale, whereby the 25 patient should memorize the stress value determined in this way on the basis of the feeling associated with it.
- the advantage of the invention is that the medically prescribed load is always recorded precisely within narrow limits for each load period within the measuring cycle, so that a comparison of the current ACTUAL value with the predetermined SET value of the load can always be made.
- This advantage is achieved in that a continuously recurring physical quantity on the lower extremities is recorded, which is an equivalent for the respective load value, the recorded physical quantity being brought to a display carried by the person via a converter, for example, which can therefore read the current load value, the actual value, on a corresponding display at any time.
- Optical or acoustically perceptible signals can be considered as display means.
- the actual value of the load is always compared with both a lower and an upper threshold value.
- the lower and upper threshold values are also specified at the same time and span an intervening load window within which the actual value of the load should lie. This measure essentially takes into account a promotion of the healing process by a minimum load and an exclusion of renewed risk of injury by avoiding a load higher than the highest permitted load.
- the method therefore centers the actual values of the loads within a range of measured values which are to be located between an upper limit and a lower limit, so that the optimal load window can be monitored relatively easily in this way.
- the measurement is carried out at periodically recurring time intervals during a load phase, and a measurement cycle can also be carried out with each step.
- a suitable device for carrying out the method consists of a measuring sensor which is attached to the lower extremities or is generally provided.
- the measuring sensor communicates with a converter.
- a communication device is provided which outputs the value detected by the measuring sensor, which is converted into a display value via the converter, to an optical and / or acoustic display unit.
- the respective load value is expediently shown in kg or N on the optical display unit, while the acoustic display in each case only sub or Need to indicate exceeding the limit values.
- the entire electrical circuit preferably has an associated memory with an input unit in order to permanently store the prescribed values in the system.
- the actual value recorded in each case can then be compared by a processor with one of the two target values and converted into a warning signal if the upper target value is exceeded or if the lower target value is undershot.
- the measurement value is recorded on the lower extremities, for example on the shin or below the sole of the foot, the measurement value is displayed in the hearing or visual range the patient should lie, it is additionally proposed to equip the transmission path between the sensor and the display as a wireless communication device.
- the display device can be designed in the manner of a wristwatch or a bracelet or the like together with the input device and can be worn accordingly on the wrist. It is essential to attach them in the field of vision or hearing.
- a transmitter module be arranged directly on the leg, which is placed around the lower leg, for example by means of a tape, the measured data being continuously transmitted to the receiver attached to the wrist or other upper extremities.
- Pressure sensors which are to be arranged below the sole of the foot, are particularly suitable as sensors.
- the invention is therefore particularly suitable for people who, after a corresponding injury, have to relearn how to walk carefully and should not exceed the predetermined load limits.
- a shoe insert filled with gel can be provided, which is tightly sealed all around and is inserted into a shoe under the sole of the foot.
- the gel insert contains a pressure sensor which communicates with the converter in a suitable manner.
- the pressure sensor should lie outside the area that the sole of the foot impinges on, so that it is surrounded by the gel on all sides during use in order to detect the pressure prevailing in the gel.
- the senor can be placed between the knee and ankle. Such a sensor detects a physical quantity that changes with the load on the shin.
- This size should preferably change proportionally over the largest possible load range.
- Suitable sensors can, for example and without claiming to be complete, detect the skin resistance, the calf circumference or the state of tension of a muscle or bone by means of ultrasound.
- the device can advantageously be developed so that the sensor, transducer and Display are integrated in a circuit fed, for example, by an accumulator.
- This circuit can be modified in such a way that a peak value memory can also be integrated.
- This peak value memory is mainly used to call up medical data, to which, in addition to the physical quantity to be determined by the sensor, data relating to the load dynamics and a medically sensible load duration can also be added.
- a switching threshold for the upper limit value and for the lower limit value can also be connected to this peak value memory.
- the first switching threshold represents safe handling of the device, in particular outside of training hours or rehabilitation measures that are usually held under supervision.
- the second switching threshold prevents overloads.
- the upper switching threshold can, for example, also vary depending on a peak value that has just been recorded, in order to protect the leg in question after an overload.
- the device issues an optical or an acoustic warning signal when the stored switching thresholds are reached during the loading phase.
- Fig.l is a schematic representation of a first embodiment
- 2 shows the schematic representation of a second exemplary embodiment for monitoring a weight-based and continuously recurring load value of the lower extremities of a person
- FIG. 3 shows an exemplary embodiment with a gel sole.
- a sensor 2 is provided on the lower extremities 1 of a person. This sensor 2 is used to record a continuously recurring physical variable during each load phase of the lower extremities 1. This physical variable is processed by a converter 3 during this load phase in such a way that the physical variable can be output on a display unit 4. Of course, the physical quantity can be recorded and displayed in every load phase. However, it is also possible for the physical quantity to be recorded and displayed randomly or in response to a predefined call signal.
- the sensor 2 is - here for example - connected to the transducer 3 at least unidirectionally for the transmission of measured values.
- This transmission can take place through a communication device 6, 6 'by means of a wired or, as shown in these exemplary embodiments, a wireless communication.
- the communication device 6, 6 ' has a transmission module 6 to be fastened to the leg by means of a band 8 and a reception module 6'.
- the receiving module 6 ' is connected to the display unit 4 which, as shown here, is attached to the person's wrist as a type of wristwatch.
- the display unit 4 can also be arranged in other areas of the upper extremities, both an optical and an acoustic output of the physical quantity being possible.
- the device according to the invention additionally has an input unit 7 which, with an associated memory, can record two predefined load values, namely the upper and the lower threshold value.
- the band has, for example, a Velcro fastener 10.
- the sensor 2 is designed as a measuring sensor and is used to detect a variable equivalent to the force currently exerted. Therefore, in the first exemplary embodiment, sensor 2 is designed as a pressure sensor, which is generally arranged below the sole of the foot, here as an example in the heel area. This pressure sensor determines the load on the lower extremity 1 in the form of the physical quantity pressure or a weight force which the person exerts on the leg during the individual load phases.
- the sensor 2 is designed in the form of a flat plate so that it can be integrated, for example, into any commercially available shoe.
- the sensor 2 shows a second exemplary embodiment of the invention.
- the sensor 2 is arranged between the knee joint and ankle joint and detects a physical variable that changes with the load on the tibia.
- This sensor 2 is, for example, by means of a band 8 on the mod extremity 1 of a person firmly attached.
- the sensor 2 contains — here, for example — the converter 3, which together with the display unit 4 is part of an electrical circuit.
- This electrical circuit also includes a peak value memory, which provides both a switching threshold for an upper limit value and for a lower limit value. According to medical indication, the limit values can be entered into the display unit 4 by means of the input unit 7.
- the display unit 4 triggers an optical and / or acoustic warning signal, for example, when the upper limit value is exceeded or the lower limit value is undershot during a load phase.
- an optical and / or acoustic warning signal for example, when the upper limit value is exceeded or the lower limit value is undershot during a load phase.
- the warning signal for the upper limit value differs from the warning signal for the lower limit value.
- the gel sole 11 consists of a self-contained volume container which is filled with a corresponding gel, for example silicone oil of high viscosity.
- the pressure within the gel liquid is equivalent to the actual load value of the lower extremity, regardless of the question of where the sensor 2 is actually attached.
- the senor 2 should be attached in such a way that it is surrounded on all sides by gel so that it can also reliably detect the actual pressure.
- the senor 2 is seated in the area of the heel zone of the gel sole 11 which is not acted upon by the sole of the foot, so that the actual pressure conditions arising within the gel liquid are also reliably detected.
- the gel sole can also be arranged with suitable means, for example within a plaster cast or the like.
- the senor 2 is connected to the lower limb in question so that a reliable detection of the actual value of the load is possible.
- the invention also enables the use of a plurality of sensors 2 which act on a single or a plurality of separate display units 4.
- the use of two sensors 2 on both sides avoids an uneven load on the extremities during convalescence, so that the risk of problems in the pelvic area is reduced.
