Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for dividing the bit rate of QPSK signals by splitting the spectrum of the QPSK signals into at least two channels with band-limited filters in the modulator and the demodulator.
- PSK signal ld () md must be squared. When squaring, the • phase angles double. After the first squaring stage with 2-PSK, the signal is given the phase position 0 and 360 °.
- bit rate - 2f g for a branch of a QPSK system (i.e. a total of 4) is split into two ⁇ and is therefore the same as for QPSK. This arrangement is used for the sine and cosine carriers, respectively.
- the object of the invention is to provide a method which fulfills the conditions: free of intersymbol inter-frequency (ISI) and crosstalk (US) between the channels and the infinite number of possibilities mentioned reduced to a class of filters in " the implementation.
- ISI intersymbol inter-frequency
- US crosstalk
- the object is achieved by the method specified in claim 1 in the interaction of the individual method steps and gives the splitting of the spectrum of the QPSK signals into at least two frequency bands, the transmission of the same in frequency multiplex and the dimensioning of the filters in the modulator and demodulator depending on the Transfer function.
- FIG. 1 shows the orthogonal pulse shapes known from the IEEE document mentioned at the beginning.
- FIG. 2 shows the baseband model of a Q 2 PSK transmitter and receiver as shown in FIG. 13 of the IEEE document using the example of a transmit and receive branch for an orthogonal carrier.
- a serial parallel conversion is first carried out and the converted signal is fed to the two filters P x and P 2 .
- the signal thus split is fed to an addition stage, modulated with a cosine carrier and in a second identical branch with a sine carrier and to the receiver transmitted with cosine and sine demodulators.
- the demodulated signals go to the two signal branches with filters and P * , are multiples of f ⁇ . sampled and decided on the data signals in a threshold decision.
- FIG. 3 shows the examples that can be seen from the IEEE script, FIG. 14, mentioned at the beginning.
- the impulse responses to the filter pair examples a, b, c in are specifically in FIGS. 3a, 3b and 3c
- FIG. 3c shows that the requirements: free of intersinter frequency (ISI) and crosstalk (US) are not exactly met.
- ISI intersinter frequency
- US crosstalk
- the filters used for signal splitting can be adjacent filters in terms of frequency (variant A) or filters in the same frequency range (variant B).
- the method according to the invention also solves the use of duobinary coding.
- the method according to the invention can be extended from a design method from two (Q 2 PSK) to n (Q "PSK) partial signals.
- the method also solves the open question of the use of duobinary coding.
- Replacing the filters P 2 ... P n with a series connection of a low-pass filter P x and subsequent modulation with equidistant sine and cosine carriers results in a multi-carrier system.
- Similar to OFDM Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex
- it can be implemented using DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) and IDFT (Inverse DFT).
- DFT Discrete Fourier Transform
- IDFT Inverse DFT
- Q "PSK offers quite a few Advantages, namely more compact spectrum, lower crest factor, lower sensitivity with frequency-selective channels and with regard to carrier synchronization.
- the starting point is a QPSK with an ideal low-pass channel H i of bandwidth ⁇ g according to FIG. 4, in which the signal profiles of the filters and the individual design steps are specified.
- the low-pass channel H i can, as indicated by dashed lines, be changed by a Nyquist flank at ⁇ g for practical implementation without the impulse response changing at multiples of - ⁇ r-, as shown in the diagram in the first line above and the impulse response on the right is shown. Since the P x and P 2 branches (FIG. 2 or FIG. 7 or 8) are transmitted at half the bit rate 4, a low pass with half the bandwidth can be used for P 2 (second line in Fig. 4). 4 was
- the zeros of the associated impulse response are accordingly multiples of 4 (line 1 in Fig.
- the splitting of the PSK signal into the real P, and the purely imaginary P 2 can be achieved by adding the root time chens VN and the corresponding sign at P 2 easily possible, whereby the desired pairs of pulse shapers P x and P 2 are found. As far as the pulses P x and P 2 are concerned, these are the. Pulses that can be picked up at the outputs of filters P and P 2 , the same applies to P x and P 2 * . Will the invention
- This sine carrier then creates zeros in the associated time signal in multiples of 4-.
- This loading s neighboring arrangement of the filter is called variant A.
- FIG. 3a can also be interpreted as a special case of the design method if the additive Nyquist edges P a are selected accordingly.
- Peak amplitude is then smaller compared to example FIG. 3a, which brings about a gain in the case of amplitude-limited channels, which proves that the example FIG. 3a is not favorable.
- the example in FIG. 3a with the larger peak amplitude corresponds to a variant B in the case of multicarrier systems.
- the most practical example FIG. 3a is to be freed from the vertical flanks. This is not possible without ISI and / or US occurring.
- 6 shows possibilities of implementing the filtering of the signals P x and P 2 without crosstalk and the transition to a multi-carrier system (variant B).
- P x receives a root Nyquist flank at ⁇ g and P 2 root Nyquist flank at ⁇ g and ⁇ g .
- P 2 and P 2m are usefully converted to the baseband by demodulation. It is important to avoid crosstalk that P 2 is symmetrical around -f- in the range of P x .
- Example e shows that P x and P 2 can also be made the same amount in this area. Additional channels with the same edges can be added in frequency division multiplex. This leads to a multi-carrier system. So that no US occurs, the individual channels must be separated in terms of frequency, so they must not overlap at first, which is shown in example f.
- the root Nyquist flanks can also overlap in frequency according to example g.
- an in-phase monitoring also occurs, which can be made zero by an offset of adjacent channels by half a bit duration at the time of sampling (OQPSK).
- variant B This filter arrangement in the same frequency range is called variant B.
- the filters in each channel (real and imaginary) form a Hilbert pair, as is known from the IEEE article.
- Variant B is known by [4] and [5] as a multi-carrier system.
- Expansion to duobinary transmission is, according to the invention, quite simple, taking into account the creation of a partial response signal.
- the cosine dome channel H c ( ⁇ ) given above in FIG. 7 provides a corresponding impulse response.
- Bit rate 2 is transmitted over the cosine dome channel as with the ideal low pass.
- its impulse response can be interpreted as two impulse responses of an ideal low pass multiplied by the factor ⁇ , which are offset from one another by the time -4-, ie the distance between the zeros of the sine function.
- This impulse response belonging to H c ( ⁇ ) has zeros at a distance of -4-, as in
- H ⁇ ⁇ I ⁇ ⁇ ) ⁇ .sm. , ⁇ ⁇ - ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ a s ' 2 ⁇ g s
- the evaluation can be done like.
- For the normal duobinary signal carry out pre-coding on the transmitter side and double-path rectification on the receiver side. In this process step, the bit inversion should be omitted in the precoding so that no negated bit sequence can arise.
- This modified duobinary coding is important for the following.
- Q 2 PSK transmits at half the bit rate per channel. Accordingly, the
- Partial-response filter H be designed PR (Fig. 7) j- ⁇ instead of ⁇ g, and it is indicated 8 upper right T ⁇ f r as shown in Fig.. 8 is a ⁇ ? 2 PS £: - Transmission shown with partial response.
- the block diagram above shows how the partial response filter must be connected downstream at the receiving end. For a matched filter arrangement, it must be divided as ⁇ jH PR on the transmit and receive side • (Fig. 8 below). However, with H s (Fig. 8 top right) this can only be done for the amount
- Fig. 9 which shows a partial response system
- the individual filters are shown in a summary for a response system.
- P x and P 2 form a Hilbert pair
- the places P * and P 2 on the reception side are simply exchanged if the Hilbert filter is combined with P x and P 2 * .
- a loss of signal-to-noise ratio is not associated with this, since the noise power and the magnitude of the sample value of the useful signal remain unchanged.
- P 2 While P is a low pass, P 2 is a band pass.
- the impulse responses belonging to P 2 P 2 are much more "high frequency" than those belonging to P 2 , as from the
- a bit rate of can be transmitted in the bandpass P 2 P 2 . If the band pass P 2 is realized by modulation, the carrier must not be placed in the middle of P 2 , which would correspond to double sideband modulation, but one must work with residual sideband modulation. This is the key difference to variant B, which would use double sideband modulation.
- FIG. 10 shows the realization of P 2 by modulation and demodulation of P 2 on the reception side and transition to Q "PSK in the upper part, whereby a lower sideband between ⁇ - and ⁇ ⁇ is generated by frequency conversion from P to P.
- a root Nyquist filter is used at ⁇ " to filter and one receives P 2.
- the Nyquist flank at ⁇ g can in principle be different from that at ⁇ -.
- the middle part of FIG. 10 shows how P 2 is demodulated in the low-pass range.
- the signal is initially sent via the same root Nyquist low pass as for the modulation. This results in a Nyquist flank at ⁇ g .
- Demodulation and low-pass filtering with P x give the desired transfer function P x , via which the bit rate can be transferred.
- the filter could also be a high pass or a band pass.
- a bandpass can easily be implemented at different frequencies using polyphase filters. After demodulation, all that is then required is a simple filter to suppress the components of twice the carrier frequency. This type of demodulation with a polyphase filter is advantageous in multi-carrier systems.
- Demodulation of the real channels is expediently implemented with cos ⁇ g t.
- a conversion should take place over an intermediate frequency so that the root Nyquist filter 4H ⁇ can be made the same for each channel.
- the channels can of course also be converted into the high-frequency range without having to carry out the repeated conversion with two orthogonal supports. In this case, the orthogonal beams are omitted completely (multi-beam system).
- the principle of dividing the transmission channel H t into two frequency ranges can also be extended to more frequency ranges.
- 11 shows this schematically for three channels, the Nyquist flanks at the separation points being omitted.
- the middle filter P 2m is in
- Adjacent channels may overlap without a US because version A always overlaps a purely real spectrum with a purely imaginary one with symmetrical edges.
- the carriers must lie very precisely in the zero crossings of the si spectra resulting from the rectangular pulse keying, which is not critical here.
- the power density spectrum of the transmission signal is constant because the power density spectra of adjacent channels complement each other to a constant value due to the Nyquist edges.
- variant B also occurs in the baseband after demodulation and filtering (as can be seen in FIG. 13, which illustrates the in-channel quadrature crosstalk (IKQÜS) above), in addition to the US through upper and lower adjacent channels, and US through the in Quadrature transmitted channel in the same frequency band, ie a 5-fold crosstalk.
- IKQÜS in-channel quadrature crosstalk
- this US compensates itself completely, which may require an equalizer.
- This US is called In-Channel Quadrature-ÜS (IKQÜS).
- variant A (as can be seen from FIG. 13 below), the overlaps on the residual sideband flank occur (RSB edge) IKQÜS, i.e. double crosstalk, which is only compensated for with distortion-free transmission.
- RSB edge residual sideband flank
- IKQÜS i.e. double crosstalk
- FIG. 14 shows how the channels are advantageously arranged in the case of multicarrier transmission. It indicates the reduction of the IKQÜS in variant A.
- the transmission spectrum S ( ⁇ ) is shown.
- Variant B is a multi-carrier system from IEEE Transactions on Communications COM-15, No. 6 (December, 1967), pages 805-811 and COM-29, no. 7 (July 1981), pages 982-989 with a different approach.
- baseband data with equidistant sine and cosine carriers in two-sideband modulation with the frequencies f k (k - ⁇ ... L) are converted directly into the HF range via filters on the transmit and receive side 2L.
- the spectra overlap with the Nyquist flanks or the root Nyquist flanks.
- the same carriers are used for demodulation.
- crosstalk pulses two different, namely, the quadrature-ÜS (crosstalk) having the sampling according to the invention zeros in ⁇ , and the in-phase ÜS (crosstalk), 'that a symmetrical spectrum around the Nyquist flank around.
- the associated time signal is multiplied by the cosine and has its zeros shifted by half the bit duration.
- the implementation of the transmitter-side RSB filter for the upper and lower RSB is advantageously carried out in the baseband with subsequent modulation. This is shown below for the root Nyquist flank with roll-off r ⁇ .
- the RSB filter shifted into the baseband is broken down into the even and odd components H g (j ⁇ ) and H u (j ⁇ ).
- the odd part is multiplied by j (again a real time function belongs to jH ü (j ⁇ )). This is followed by a conversion with a cosine and sine carrier. Both parts are added or subtracted and, according to FIG. 16, result in RSB filters with the RSB edge at the lower or at the upper band end.
- the reception-side filtering with P x according to FIG. 10 can be omitted and replaced by a simple low-pass suppression of the higher frequency components that arise during demodulation.
- the two TP filters H g (j ⁇ ) and jH u (j ⁇ ) can be implemented as FIR filters in accordance with their impulse responses.
- the transfer functions implemented are real.
- For imaginary transfer functions, such as occur in variant A in every second channel, are cosines and Swap sinusoidal carriers. This is shown in the lower part of Figure 16.
- single-sideband modulation was chosen for variant A to generate the cos channel, which would require a filter with a vertical edge.
- the duobinary multicarrier transmission is shown on the basis of the transmission spectrum S ( ⁇ ). The following shows that this is not necessary.
- FIG. 17 which indicates an addition of edges H ( ⁇ ) (namely 17a) addition to 1, 17b) addition to H c ( ⁇ ), mirrored Nyquist edges add up to a value 1. This is easy to show.
- the Nyquist flank can be written as
- H ( ⁇ ) + H ( ⁇ ) l with ⁇ repet ; r • ⁇ "
- the edge H ( ⁇ ) can be over the approach
- This procedure is not limited to the cos function, but can also be used for other functions.
