Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing a flat discharge lamp, also abbreviated hereafter as a flat lamp.
- the invention is directed to the production of flat lamps, which are designed for dielectrically impeded discharges, in which therefore at least the electrodes of one polarity are separated by a dielectric layer from the discharge medium in the interior of the discharge vessel.
- Lamps of this type are also known as dielectric barrier discharge lamps.
- Such lamps are suitable in addition to general lighting, inter alia, for the backlighting of liquid crystal displays (LCD) as well as for decoration and advertising purposes.
- LCD liquid crystal displays
- Flat lamps of the generic type have a discharge vessel, which is formed by a bottom plate, a ceiling plate and a frame arranged therebetween.
- a discharge vessel which is formed by a bottom plate, a ceiling plate and a frame arranged therebetween.
- the technology of flat lamps for dielectrically impeded discharges is required as the prior art.
- the discharge vessel of this flat lamp comprises two mutually parallel plates, a frame and spacers which support the two plates against each other.
- Each spacer consists of a highly viscous at low temperature and a low-viscosity component.
- the respective vertical dimension of each spacer is greater than the intended end distance of the two plates.
- the thus initially kept free circumferential gap-like opening serves as a pump or filling opening of the discharge vessel.
- the low-viscosity component of each spacer element compensates for possible assembly of the discharge vessel possible local deviations of the distances between the two plates.
- a disadvantage is the associated with the two-piece spacers high production costs. In addition, it may happen that a spacer, which is a little too short to be clamped between the plates, tilts before joining by the convection current in the joining furnace, thereby scrap.
- the object of the present invention is to avoid the aforementioned disadvantages and to provide an improved method for the production of flat discharge lamps.
- a method for producing a flat discharge lamp, in particular a flat dielectric barrier discharge lamp, the discharge vessel having a base plate, a cover plate and a frame and at least one spacer element between base plate and cover plate and filled with a discharge medium is, with the following method steps: Provision of a solder bath, immersing one end of the at least one spacer element in the solder bath, applying the at least one spacer element with the immersed end on the inside of the base plate such that the at least one spacer element (3) by means of the solder paste (5 ) of the Lotbads on the inside of the base plate (6) adheres, characterized in that a plurality of spacer elements (3) are each taken with one end in an order plate (1) and held, are immersed with the other end temporarily in the Lotbad, with the end, which was immersed in the solder bath on the base plate (6) are applied and finally released from the order plate (1).
- the solder bath consists of a suitable solder paste, in particular a glass solder paste.
- a suitable solder paste low melting glass solder mixed with a binder, e.g. Lead borosilicate, zinc borate or bismuth based glass solders.
- the method according to the invention offers, inter alia, the advantage that the spacer elements are already covered by the solder paste, i. adhere to the base plate before the melting of the solder, so that they are secured against falling over in the subsequent manufacturing steps.
- the solder paste namely forms a thin film in the respective contact area between the spacer and the base plate, so that the spacer elements adhere to the base plate by means of capillary adhesion.
- a large number of spacer elements for example 288 pieces in a 21.3-inch diagonal lamp-are preferably all immersed in the solder bath in a common process step and then in a further process step on the baseplate applied.
- a plurality of spacer elements are each taken with one end in an order plate and held, for example, by suction, each with the other end temporarily submerged in the solder bath, then positioned over the base plate and finally triggered from the order plate, for example by blowing, so that Finally, the spacer elements each with the end that dipped into the solder bath was stuck to the base plate.
- the order plate is provided with corresponding recesses for receiving the spacer elements.
- the arrangement of the recesses in the order plate must correspond to the intended positions of the spacers on the base plate.
- the pre-assembled structure is completed before joining in the joining furnace with a cover plate and a surrounding frame, which is arranged between base plate and cover plate. Between the frame and cover plate some Lottabletten are arranged to form a pumping gap. The latter soften upon reaching the joining temperature and close the base plate including the spacer elements, with the frame and the cover plate to the actual discharge vessel of the flat discharge lamp.
- the pre-assembled structure is oriented in the joining furnace introduced so that the inside of the base plate pointing down and consequently hang the spacers down.
- spacer elements In principle, different shapes for the spacer elements into consideration, but preferably cylindrical, in particular with a circular cross-section.
- FIGS. 1a, 1b and 2a-2d show the same features in the figures.
- the previously required manufacturing steps such as the application of the electrode tracks, the dielectric barrier layer and the phosphor layer will not be discussed in detail here, as they are for the understanding of the invention without meaning (therefore not shown here for simplicity). Incidentally, this is on the already mentioned above font WO 98/43277 directed.
- FIG. 1a shows, by way of example and roughly schematically, an order plate 1 made of aluminum, with only eight circular depressions 2 for the sake of clarity, for accommodating likewise eight cylindrical spacer elements 3 (see Figure 1b).
- the order plate with the spacer elements is positioned above the glass base plate of the discharge lamp in such a way that the glass solder wetted ends of the spacer elements are just above the surface of the base plate.
- the spacer elements are triggered by blowing out of the order plate and pressed onto the base plate.
- the spacers 3 adhere by means of the glass solder paste 5 on the base plate 6 and can not fall over in the subsequent manufacturing steps.
- a circumferential frame 7 is applied to the base plate 6 by means of glass solder, two glass solder tablets 8 on each of the four sides of the frame 7 and finally a cover plate 9 made of glass mm high glass solder pellets 8 serve to first create a gap 10 between the frame 7 and cover plate 9.
- the cover plate 9 coated on its inside with phosphor touches the spacer elements 3 (not visible in FIG. 2c), which is why this phosphor layer can no longer scratch during assembly.
- the entire preassembled structure is placed in an evacuable joining furnace (not shown).
- the temperature in the joining furnace is increased so far that the glass solder pellets 8 melt and the Frame 7 with base 6 and cover plate 9 are closed to a gas-tight discharge vessel (see Figure 2d).
- the preassembled structure can also be reversed, ie introduced with downwardly hanging spacer elements in the joining furnace. This has the advantage that the spacer elements can still align vertically when joining and then provide a flat support surface for the cover plate, since the glass soldering paste melts at the ends of the spacer elements when reaching the bonding temperature.
- the inventive method has the advantage that the spacer elements in the convection current of the joining furnace due to the adhesion to the base plate by means of glass solder paste can not tip over. This can reduce the rejects.

Description
- Fig. 1a
- eine Ordnungsplatte zur Aufnahme von Abstandselementen,
