Definitions
- the invention relates to a speaker system with three or more speakers.
- a separate power amplifier is usually used for each loudspeaker used in a motor vehicle. This entails costs and space requirements. In addition, the efficiency of the overall arrangement is unfavorable.
- DE 41 06 267 A1 describes using bridge output stages to increase the speaker power, the two outputs of which are in opposite phase. This enables them to double the voltage swing for a given supply voltage compared to a single output stage.
- a multimedia computer loudspeaker system with a left and a right broadband loudspeaker and a bass loudspeaker in which an amplifier is provided for each of the two broadband loudspeakers.
- One amplifier is inverted and, with respect to the other amplifier / broadband speaker pair, is connected in reverse to the connections of the associated broadband speaker.
- the broadband speakers are connected to earth with one connection each.
- the bass speaker is connected in parallel to the two amplifiers with a low-pass filter in series. The configuration is such that the bass speaker receives more amplifier power than the wideband speakers, with no separate amplifier required for the bass speaker.
- the level of the bass loudspeaker can thus only be set passively, for example via a resistor.
- a high / low pass control can also only be carried out passively.
- Changes to the settings of the two equalizers or the potentiometers each affect one of the broadband speakers and the bass speaker.
- the amplifier arrangements of the known loudspeaker systems have to be practically doubled if additional loudspeakers are installed in the system, for example the loudspeakers are arranged in pairs (front and rear in the vehicle).
- the invention has for its object to provide a speaker system in which a separate control of bass speakers and the other speakers and an independent level control of individual speakers is possible.
- the loudspeaker system according to the invention is advantageously characterized in that, in an arrangement with two bridge output stages, a common mode signal is also impressed in addition to the existing differential signal of each output stage.
- the common mode signal of one output stage is opposite in phase to the common mode signal of the other output stage. This enables the control of a third loudspeaker (usually a bass loudspeaker) with an independent signal and thus also an active level setting.
- the users of a vehicle can thus park a loudspeaker branch (front / rear) (so-called fading). Nevertheless, the bass speaker can still be fully controlled. With this system design, costs can be reduced due to the saving of components (power amplifier or external frequency). With three bridge amplifiers consisting of four amplifiers, it is possible to control three loudspeakers.
- the independent control of the loudspeakers means that the functions can be optimized.
- the frequency band can also be set individually for the speakers (in pairs).
- a frequency filter can be placed in front of the power amplifier, i.e. in the small signal range, which means that cheaper components can be used. This also results in an active control option and thus improved system security.
- a filter is expediently used for dividing the audio signal, a high-pass and low-pass arrangement being used in an advantageous exemplary embodiment of the invention.
- a broadband signal can be given to both bridge amplifiers. This is possible with analog filter technology or with digital signal processing.
- the coil connections can then be placed in any arrangement at the outputs of the two bridge output stages, provided that each coil is connected in phase opposition.
- FIG. 1 shows a block diagram of a loudspeaker system according to a first exemplary embodiment of the invention
- Fig. 2 is an extract from a block diagram of a speaker system according to a second embodiment of the invention.
- 1 shows a schematic block diagram of a loudspeaker system which is provided for use in a motor vehicle with three loudspeakers LF (front), LR (rear) and LB (bass).
- a high-pass filter HP and a low-pass filter TP are connected in parallel to an audio output AUA.
- Two level adjusters PF and PR designed as potentiometers are connected in parallel to the output of the high-pass filter HPA.
- the output of the potentiometer PF is connected directly to the input of a first output stage FD and via an inverter IF to the inverting input of a second output stage F1.
- the final stage FD and the final stage VI together form a bridge final stage BF, which is illustrated in broken lines in FIG. 1.
- the front loudspeaker LF is connected to the opposite phase outputs FDA and FIA of the two output stages FD and Fl, i.e. the bridge amplifier BF.
- the output of the potentiometer PR is connected directly to the input of a third output stage RD and via an inverter IR to the inverting input of a fourth output stage R1.
- the final stage RD and the final stage R1 together form a bridge final stage BR, which is illustrated in broken lines in FIG. 1.
- the rear speaker LR is connected to the opposite phase outputs RDA and RIA of the two output stages RD and Rl, i.e. the bridge power amplifier BR.
- a level adjuster PB which is also designed as a potentiometer, is connected to the output of the low-pass filter TP. Its output is connected to the common mode inputs of the bridge output stage BF via two summers SF, SF.
- the common mode signal applied in this way is thus impressed in addition to the existing differential signal of the bridge output stage BF, but does not produce any amplification on the loudspeaker LF, which is amplified by the differential signal.
- the output of the potentiometer PB is connected in parallel to the summers SF, SF to an inverter IB and is connected via this and two summers SR, SR to the common mode inputs of the bridge output stage BR.
- the common mode signal applied in this way is impressed on the bridge output stage BR, but has no effect on the operation of the loudspeaker LR. In this way, antiphase common-mode signals are present at the output of the two bridge output stages BF and BR.
- a third bass loudspeaker LB is connected to the output connections FDA and RDA of the two bridge output stages. For this, the two bridge output stages BF and BR again represent a bridge output stage with respect to the common mode signal.
- Fig. 2 shows a second embodiment of a speaker system according to the invention. This differs only in the design of the bass speaker LB and its connection to the two bridge output stages BF, BR from the previously described embodiment. Therefore, only an extract of the block diagram is shown.
- the loudspeaker LB is a double-coil loudspeaker with two voice coils S1 and S2, which are electrically independent.
- One connection A, B and one connection C, D of the two voice coils is connected to a bridge output stage BF, BR, so that all output stages of the bridge output stages BF, BR are used.
- the connections of the two bridge output stages and the two voice coils are connected to one another as follows: FDA-A, FIA-C, RDA-B, RIA-D. This results in a symmetrical utilization of the output stages FD, Fl, RD, Rl.
- the loudspeaker LB can thus work with maximum system performance.
