Abstract

The sheets (2) to be used for the production of a book, magazine or similar object are clamped together and transported to the cutting unit (9) on a conveyor belt (7). A first crude cut is performed by a rotating blade (15) determining the approximate size of the sheet (2) whereas the final, precise cut is made by a linear stationary positioned blade (17). Both cutting devices (15, 17) are combined in order to form a compact cutting module (9).

Description

The present invention relates to a method and a device for trimming of printed products according to the preamble of claim 1 and of claim 13.

For trimming printed products, especially bound book blocks, brochures u. Like., Dreimesserschneidemaschinen are known which the printed products at the three unbound pages, the printed products of a Press punches are fixed on a stationary cutting table and side knife the Head and foot side and a transverse knife cut the front one after the other. The Sections are performed in a diagonal cutting against a cutting bar, which Also known as knife cutting principle on standing product and high quality Sections are allowed even with thick printed products. DE 28 52 878 C2 shows a Three-knife cutting machine with hypocycloidal movements of the side knives, whereby an almost simultaneous side knife and cross knife movement for trimming is possible.

By performing all cuts in a press position shifts of Printed products avoided by intermediate relief or transport and a high dimensional stability reached. Due to the product standstill when trimming along with a Feeding, alignment, pressing and execution of the printed products is the number of cycles limited to three knife cutting machines. Higher cutting performance, as in Klebebinderfließstrecken be required are managed by stacking - not with Insignificant effort for stacking and possibly unstacking, if after the three-side trimming Individual products are to be processed. Because of format-dependent change parts (Cutting table, press punch) a set-up time is required when changing the format.

For the realization of the three-side trimming trimmers are also known that after working the shear cut principle, which is characterized in that an upper blade is moved against a fixed lower blade. Side and front trim are executed in two, spatially separated stations. They are only limited Cutting quality achievable and the maximum insertion height is about 15 mm limited. Trimmers are suitable for single cutting of magazines and thin brochures and achieve high cutting performance.

The shear cut principle is also used in rotary cutters, in which the printed products in the scale flow through two cutting stations, which in rectangular Arrangement coupled to each other by a corner module for reorientation of the printed products are. The cuts are made by rotating upper blade, which oppose also move rotating undercutter. The printed products to be cut are held by press belts, conveyed by the cutting stations. With rotary cutting highest cutting performance is possible. But they are because of the Shear cut principle with rotary knife for the qualitative three-side trimming not suitable.

Another principle for trimming printed products results from the knife cutting process with stationary knife, against which the printed products be kept in a clamped position. From EP 0 670 203 B1 a device is known, in the reduction of the not inconsiderable cutting forces a variety of one after the other on the edges of the printed product to be trimmed cutting is provided. The size of the necessary holding forces but still requires the Clamping the printed products in a stapler, resulting in this device a timed delivery and execution of the printed products is essential.

The present invention is based on the object, a method for trimming of printed products according to the preamble of claim 1 and a device for to provide for its implementation, which allows uncalibrated individual products to be supplied High quality cutting at high cutting performance.

This object is achieved in that the cutting process in two successive operations, with the page to be trimmed Printed products in a first pass through a pre-cut to near the final Trimming cut off and in a second operation by a smoothing End trim is cut by means of the drawing knife cut. It has shown to be particularly advantageous, the pre-cropping with a rotating Implement tool, with the side to be trimmed as far as possible, e.g. by Milling or sawing, is processed, and when smoothing or final trimming only cut a very thin Schnittpan of preferably about 0.5 mm thickness.

The idea of the invention lies in the fact that the printed products are first subjected to a separation process to cut to size, regardless of the trim size only low cutting forces to then pull them with the pulling knife cut by separating a thin Smooth cutting cuts. Because it only a small volume of paper to the side must be urged, only low cutting forces are needed, which also largely regardless of the relative pulling speed of the knife are larger and with Product thickness increase only insignificantly. The cutting method is therefore suitable also for trimming thick printed products and enables high cutting performance.

Appropriately, the constantly held transport of the printed products during the Cutting process with pre-cutting and smoothing or final trimming. Because of the Relative to the previously known cutting methods low cutting forces, it is sufficient in accordance a preferred embodiment, the printed products to promote the Cutting process between endless means of transport, such as press belt, roller chain with Clamp plates, timing belt o. The like., To clamp. Additional clamping means, like synchronous mitbewegte press ram and cutting tables, are not required, which at one Format change no format-dependent change parts must be replaced. The Cutting process is characterized according to dependent claim 8 characterized in that the printed products untimed against the cutting tools are movable. That's an advantage Cutting method can also be used for trimming of shingled material Printed products.

Claim 10 indicates that the cutting method according to the invention for the three-side trimming can be used. In claim 11, the application of the cutting process specified for the back processing of book blocks in adhesive binding, with the cutting process of the gutter of the gathered signatures separated becomes. According to claim 12, the severing is followed by roughening and scoring of the book block spine.

The apparatus for performing the cutting method has according to claim 13 Cutting module, which consists of a first, a rotating driven cutting tool comprehensive cutting station for pre-cutting and a second, a standing Knife comprehensive cutting station for smooth end trimming exists. preferred Embodiments of the device are indicated in the further dependent claims.

Each of these cutting modules 9, 26, 27 consists of a lower and an upper Press plate chain conveyors 10 and 11 for clamped holding and continuous Conveying the book blocks 2 and from a first cutting station, the pre-cut station 13, with a rotatably driven saw blade 15 for pre-cutting and a second cutting station, the final trimming station 16, with a fixed knife 17 for the subsequently performed smooth end trimming of a single book block side surface.

The book blocks 2 each have a head side 3, a foot side 4, a back 5 and a front side 6 and are bound in the back 5. The uncut book blocks 2a have a height H u and a width B u . After the three-sided trimming on the three unbound pages, namely the head 3, foot 4 and front 5, the height H and the width B results at the end-trimmed book block 2b.

For the front trimming, the uncut book blocks 2a are conveyed on a conveyor belt 7 aligned with lateral guides 8a, b of the cutting unit S1 at a conveying speed v 1 and conveyed close to the desired cutting edge by the press plate chain conveyors 10, 11. The unclamped part of the book block 2 is supported by support rails 12. The book blocks 2 reach with their uncut front side 6a into the effective range of a motor 14 rotatably driven saw blade 15, wherein to create a flat side surface of at least the fissured portion of the book block 2 is separated. While maintaining the clamped promotion, the book blocks 2 are then supplied with their pre-cut front side 6b at a cutting angle α fixedly arranged knife 17 for performing the smooth Endbeschnitts. According to the idea of the invention, only a thin section of approximately t = 0.5 mm thickness is cut off. Thus, the last sheet is cut off safely, the knife 17 is employed against a free-rotating in a holder 19 support roller 18.

The book blocks 2 with the end-trimmed front side 6c are delivered to a conveyor belt 20 and conveyed via a corner module 21, consisting of a suction belt conveyor 22 and a stop rail 23, transversely to the original conveying direction with a conveying speed v 2 for transfer to a book block 2 with guide rails 25a , b laterally aligning and the second cutting unit S2 feeding conveyor belt 24th

In the second cutting unit S2, the book blocks 2 are respectively along the head 3 and the foot 4 further conveyed by press plate chain conveyors 10, 11 clamped. The cutting operations for the head and foot trim are the same as for the front trim carried out. In Fig. 3 can be seen how the ragged uncut side of the head 3a separated from the saw blade 15 in the Vorbeschnittstation 13 and the pre-cropped Foot side 4a end-cut by the fixed blade 17 in the Endbeschnittstation 16 becomes. During transport through the cutting unit S2, the book blocks 2 by a support rail located centrally between the press plate chain conveyors 10,11 28 supported. After trimming in the cutting unit S2, the finished trimmed Book blocks 2a passed to a conveyor belt 29 and further processing Supplied facilities.

In Fig. 3 also the structure of the press plate chain conveyors 10, 11 can be seen. Of the lower press plate chain conveyor 10 is formed from a circulating around sprockets 40, driven roller chain 30, located in the area of the clamped transport on a fixed to a frame-fixed holder 38 chain guide 39 is supported. At the individual Links of the roller chain 30 are fixed bracket 32, which includes the inclusion of press plates 33 allow. The book blocks 2 are located on the press plates 33 of the lower Press plate chain conveyor 10 and are similar by the pressing plates 33 of the built-up upper press plate chain conveyor 11 clamped with a defined holding force. To generate the holding force is the associated chain guide 34 between guide plates 36 guided and arranged by pressure springs 35 against a frame fixed Holder 37 supported. As a result, the roller chain 30 with the associated press plates 33 pushed down, wherein the displacement by projecting bolts 31 of Roller chain 30 limited in correspondingly executed grooves 36a of the guide plates 36 is.

The upper press plate chain conveyor 11 are adjustable by means not shown with respect to the thickness D of the book block 2. In FIGS. 2 and 3, this adjustment V D is symbolized by a dashed double arrow. Further adjustments are provided to take account of the width B and the height H of the book block 2. Thus, in the cutting unit S1, the cutting module 9 is adjusted with the adjustment V B with respect to the width B such that the back 5 is guided on a constant line. In the cutting unit S2, the cutting module 27 for Fußbeschnitt is adjusted in terms of the height H of the book block 2. This adjustment V H is also provided for the stop rail 23 of the corner module 21.

The executed according to the cutting method according to the invention three trimmer 1 for book block 2 does not require pulsed product streams, whereby a cost-effective design is made possible, especially because similarly constructed cutting modules 9, 26, 27 are used. In addition to high cutting performance, the three-knife trimmer 1 is characterized by the fact that even larger (product) thicknesses D can be processed. The cutting units S1, S2 can be used as an alternative to the illustrated embodiment at different locations or in different phases of the print finishing. Thus, the cutting unit S1 could be used immediately behind an adhesive binder, wherein a stationary transport of the book block (2) as in the perfect binder is conceivable. The cutting unit S2 would follow only after a transport dry stretch. The cutting method can also be realized in the adhesive binder itself for the front trimming (9) by the supported in Transportklammem funded book block (2) first on a saw blade (15) or on milling tools for Vorbeschnitt (13) and then on a stationary knife ( 17) for the Endbeschnitt (16) are passed.
