Die gebundenen Druckerzeugnisse werden in einem seriellen Produktestrom, einzeln oder in Stapeln einem Schneidtisch zugeführt und dabei nach dem Rücken und/oder den Seitenkanten ausgerichtet, danach mittels eines Pressstempels auf den Schneidtisch gepresst und in dieser Position beschnitten. Die Messer führen hierzu jeweils eine gegen eine am Schneidtisch befestigte Schneidleiste gerichtete Schneidbewegung aus. Nach diesem Prinzip arbeitende Dreischneider gewährleisten eine gute Qualität der Druckerzeugnisse in Bezug auf die Geometrie und die Schnittfläche. Nachteilig ist, dass für die Umstellung auf verschiedene Formate in der Regel sowohl der Pressstempel, als auch der Schneidtisch entsprechend dem Format ausgetauscht werden müssen. Eine in Fig.1 dargestellte Schneideinrichtung 1 ist für das Beschneiden wenigstens einer Seitenkante 2 gebundener resp. gehefteter Buchblocks, Bücher, Zeitschriften oder dgl. Druckerzeugnisse 3 vorgesehen. Die Druckerzeugnisse 3 werden dabei in einem Förderstrom einzeln oder in aus mehreren Druckerzeugnissen 3 gebildeten Stapeln in Förderrichtung F einem Schneidtisch 4 der Schneideinrichtung 1 flach aufliegend zugeführt. Die dem Schneidtisch 4 jeweils in eine Schneidposition zugeführten Druckerzeugnisse 3 werden zumindest während dem Schneidvorgang mittels eines gegen den Schneidtisch 4 pressenden, auf das Druckerzeugnis 3 absenk- und von diesem anhebbaren Pressstempel 5 gehalten und durch aus einer Ausgangsstellung gegen den Schneidtisch 4 resp. gegen Schneidleisten 7 oder Gegenmesser angetriebene Schneidmesser 6 beschnitten. Bei der Verarbeitung von Druckerzeugnissen 3, die über ihre flächigen Seiten 8 eine konstante Dicke aufweisen, können die Oberflächen des Pressstempels 5 und des Schneidtischs 4 als ebene Flächen ausgebildet sein.
