Definitions
- the invention relates to a plastic forearm, which is attached to a handgun in relation to the barrel substantially fixed in position, wherein at least one of the longitudinal sides at least one threaded hole for attaching an additional device is arranged.
- positional designations such as “top” or “front” always refer to the weapon held in normal firing position, in which the axis of the soul is horizontal and the firing direction is forward.
- Front shafts are found on many rifles, submachine guns, light machine guns and even pistols.
- Modern Ordonnanzwaffen usually have front shafts made of plastic, which surround the barrel and possibly the gas piston or a tube for the closing spring at least from below.
- This front shafts always represent a hand guard and are usually easy to remove and replace other front shafts, which are adapted to about accessories, such as the US rifle M 16, the plastic forearm against a metal forend replaceable, which is adapted to the rifle grenade device M 203.
- This replacement fore-end in its general formations, may be any suitable fore-end.
- the invention is particularly suitable for a forend, as described in the German patent application P 102 37 301.9 (not yet published on the priority date of the present patent application). The content of this patent application is incorporated by reference into the present documents and will not be further described below.
- the attachment of such accessories to the forearm offers many advantages: surprisingly, the position of the forearm with respect to the barrel is at least as determined as the position of the handle to the barrel. On the handle, the attachment is about a target optics but commonplace (such as the night-vision device on the US rifle M 16).
- a fore-end is supplied, which can optionally be exchanged in the simplest way for an existing or even damaged fore-end, if an additional device is to be attached to the weapon.
- a special feature are the injected threaded bushes; on the one hand they ensure a reliable hold of the additional device; on the other hand, the load applied by the auxiliary device (s) is distributed over a relatively large area. This allows the plastic forend withstand the introduced loads easily permanently.
- the expert can also locally increase the wall thickness in the threaded bushes and / or insert reinforcements in the plastic, for example glass fibers, metal rails o. The like ..
- the occurrence of shear forces is minimized, which could be introduced by a holder, and Additional device is located on the forearm and thus can transmit forces to the forearm by friction.
- the self-locking feature of the threaded bushing (s) has the advantage that a screw inserted therein does not have to be over tightened, which could otherwise endanger the grip of the threaded bushing in the plastic.
- the additional device by means of at least one screw which is screwed into the or an associated threaded bushing from the outside, and by means of at least one further support on the forearm is firmly attachable.
- the additional holder ensures or ensure distribution of the loads.
- the further support is another screw which is screwed into a further threaded bushing, which is also injected into the forend. Since these threaded bushes can be injected with high accuracy in composite casting, their mounting locations and thus their mutual distance are precisely defined. As a result, an introduction of additional stresses in the forend due to inaccurate mutual distances of the threaded bushings is excluded.
- the further holder is advantageously a rivet, which passes through the wall of the forearm.
- a rivet ensures by pressing the additional device on the forend for a flat distribution of the introduced loads.
- the considerable size of the cross-sectional dimensions of the Picatinny rail allows their simple production, such as precision casting, without reworking; Incidentally, considerable manufacturing tolerances are added without affecting the positional accuracy.
- the transverse grooves of the rail ensure a reliable fit of the attached devices in a variety of places without their clamping on the rail latter overloaded too much.
- Production-friendly materials, such as plastic, which do not have the strength of steel, can therefore easily be used.
- threaded bushings are injected into the front stock in order to be able to attach a rail to it at the bottom and left and right, depending on how many devices are to be attached to the stock.
- the additional device or one of the additional devices is a contact carrier.
- This contact carrier may be coupled to parts of the rifle, such as the fuse or a separate switch, which is conveniently located near the other controls the rifle.
- a headlight or infrared spotlight on a rail, which can then be connected to the contact carrier. Pressing a switch on the rifle or unlocking then actuates the headlight.
- the power supply of a passive night target device, a laser pointer, rangefinder or other electrical device can be actuated via such a contact carrier.
- the invention provides a simple and inexpensive means to equip a handgun quickly, universally and according to individual wishes with additional equipment.
- the illustrated forearm substantially corresponds to the forearm of German Patent Application P 102 37 301.9 (not yet published on the priority date of the present patent application).
- the content of this patent application is incorporated by reference into the present documents and will not be further described below.
- the forend or hand guard is formed from a one-piece plastic body 1, on top of which a hinged cover 3 is placed.
- the main part 1 with opened cover 3 is pushed from the front over the barrel, gas sampling piece, gas cylinder and linkage of a rifle, and then the cover is folded.
- At the top of the main part 1 and in the cover 3 are vents from which hot air and launcher gases can escape.
- the front of the main part 1 is closed by an attached cover 2.
- a secured transverse pin (not shown) may pass through openings 5 ( Figure 2) and is secured to the gas sampling piece.
- Projections 7 and a recess 9 on the rear side of the main part 1 engage with complementary formations in the housing of the rifle (not shown).
- a rail is shown in a representation similar to Fig. 2, but with a different equipment.
- Near the front of a short rail 15 is fastened laterally by means of a screw 10 and two rivets 17 which together give the short rail 15 the support for receiving a headlight (not shown).
- the rivets 17 penetrate the wall of the main part 1 in cast or introduced during installation holes and fasten the short rail 15 of this permanently.
- the screw 10 is used in addition to the power transmission for fixing the short rail during assembly and before riveting and sits in a self-locking threaded bushing 11th
- a contact carrier 19 is attached, which is riveted or clamped and has to take only the weight of a plug-like contact slide whose exact location is immaterial.
- Essential is the arrangement of at least one injected, self-locking threaded bushing 11, which serves for the positionally accurate and firm attachment (or at least the fixation before Annieten) of the rail 4 or 15.
