Definitions
- the invention relates to an electrical connection element with two in Mating direction of socket sections arranged one behind the other Inclusion of a flat plug contact, the first socket section a first recording room with a cross-shaped Has cross section and the second socket section one as a receiving space trained for a flat plug contact, transversely to Includes direction of contact slot.
- connection elements are used, inter alia, in motor vehicles used to electrical components, such as relays or fuses, to connect with a power distributor designed as a lead frame.
- EP 0 759 213 B1 describes a connection element in which both the first and the second socket section each have one Have symmetrical cross-slit cross-section. Both socket sections are for receiving a flat plug with one each predetermined width provided.
- the invention has for its object a connecting element initially mentioned type with an extended range of application and in particular for different connector widths.
- connection element according to the invention is particularly distinguished characterized in that the second bushing section serves as a receiving space trained for a flat plug contact, extending transversely to the plug direction extending contact slot having a contact path, which extends along the contact slot.
- the contact path can be designed such that the Narrowest of a set of plug contacts of different widths, for example from 2.8 mm to 4.8 mm to 6.3 mm, safely contacted and that, in particular, an existing, crosswise to the contact slot extending secondary slot is bridged. there the contact path can extend essentially over the entire contact slot extend. In the case of an existing secondary slot, you can essentially the entire leg of the contact slot as a contact path be used. In particular, it can be used as a contact path use the used area of the thighs up to the secondary slit, whereby one to be bridged and formed by the secondary slot Gap in the contact path is minimized.
- the connection element can be rotated about its Longitudinal central axis ensured so that the orientation of the contact path of the contact slot by twisting the connection element by 90 ° to the orientation of one to be contacted Can adjust tab connector.
- the insertion of a flat connector into the second socket section is therefore not complicated by the fact that the Recording space of the second socket section is not symmetrical Must have a cross-slot shape. Rather, the guarantees 90 ° rotations given symmetry of the first socket section Adaptability of the orientation of the contact slot of the second Socket section during the contact distance of the contact slot at the same time the contacting of flat plugs of different widths allows.
- the contact path can, according to an advantageous embodiment by several discrete ones distributed along the contact slot Contact areas are formed. This enables effective and easy contact to be made of flat plug contacts different Width.
- contact slot Distributed contact areas provided. That way you can at least two different flat tabs by at least each two contact areas are contacted, namely narrower plugs by at least two inner, i.e. in a central area of the contact slot horizontal contact areas and wider plugs through the inner and additionally through the contact areas located further outside.
- the distance is between two inner contact areas no more than about 2.8 mm and preferably about 2.0 to 2.8 mm. This enables contacting of narrow tabs with a width of about 2.8 mm.
- the distance between two outer contact areas is preferably not more than about 4.8 mm, and preferably about 4.0 to 4.8 mm. This ensures contacting and a secure fit of tabs with a width of 4.8 mm or larger. Such wide tabs are used both in the outer contact areas and in the contacted inside contact areas.
- each contact area can pass through formed a pair of opposing contact elements his.
- the blade terminal is contacted on both sides, whereby the electrical contact between connection element and flat plug as well the fit of the plug in the connection element is improved.
- the contact elements can form projections in the contact slot delimiting side walls. Such projections can be produce particularly easily, for example by an embossing process.
- the second socket section in addition to the contact slot one across the contact slot running and as a receiving space for a flat plug contact trained secondary slot. It is particularly favorable if the Side slot is dimensioned differently than the contact slot, because the connection element then take up another variant of tab connector can. The area of application of the connection element is therefore even stronger extended.
- the secondary slot can, for example, have a smaller insertion width than that Have contact slot. This allows both the inclusion of one thicker tab in the contact slot as well as the receptacle a thinner tab in the side slot.
- the contact slot can, for example, for a connector thickness of 0.8 mm and the secondary slot be designed for a plug thickness of 0.6 mm. Versatility the connecting element is thereby increased still further.
- Contact sections of the secondary slot can delimit from the secondary slot Sidewalls emerging spring tongues. Such contact sections can be done by simply bending side wall extensions easy to manufacture. By training as a spring tongue both a secure fit of the tab connector in the secondary slot and a Reliable electrical contact between the flat plug and the connection element guaranteed.
- connection element are the contact slot and in particular also a secondary slot open on each side.
- this enables contacting of such tabs, the width of which is the width of the contact slot or secondary slot goes out.
- open training leads the contact slot and the secondary slot to a certain elasticity the side walls bounding the slots.
- This elasticity of the side walls can be such that the a plug contact inserted into the second socket section Contact forces are less than the contact forces acting on you Plug contact act, which is inserted into the first socket section. This makes it easier to insert a plug contact from the second socket section release than from the first socket section.
- the first socket section for plugging on the connection element to a plug contact of a power distribution lead frame and the second socket section for contacting an electrical Provided component, so the lower contact forces in the second Socket section achieves that when the electrical Component of the power supply the corresponding plug contact can be detached from the second socket section, thereby the connection element itself gets stuck on the plug contact of the lead frame, in other words: when removing the plug contact from the second Socket section, it can happen that the whole unintentionally Connection element is withdrawn.
- the receiving space of the first socket section is advantageous completely enclosed on the side by a boundary wall. Thereby becomes a rigidity of the first bushing section in a simple manner achieved, which can be chosen so large that the contact forces acting on act a plug contact, which is inserted into the first socket section is larger than that on one in the second socket section inserted contact force acting contact forces.
- a closure is provided with the side walls delimiting the receiving space in the state of use are fixed.
- Such a closure is special then an advantage if the connection element is a stamped and bent part acts because in this case the closure prevents that there is a connecting element bent into its state of use can unfold automatically.
- the closure can be formed by at least one securing opening be in which a locking tab engages. Such a closure is particularly easy to manufacture.
- the securing tab can be a snap or with the securing opening Form snap lock. This provides a particularly secure closure which can also be opened again if necessary.
- the electrical connection element shown in FIGS. 1 to 5 is a stamped / bent part formed in one piece from a metal sheet. As in the 1 and 2 can be seen particularly well, includes the connection element a first socket section 10 and a second socket section 12, with the socket sections 10 and 12 one behind the other in the plug-in direction are arranged. Each socket section 10, 12 has a receiving space to accommodate a flat plug contact (not shown) on. A plug contact is in the direction of arrow 14 shown in Fig. 2 in the first socket section 10 and in the direction of arrow 16, i.e. in to arrow 14 in the opposite direction, in the second socket section 12 introduced.
- the receiving space 18 of the first socket section 10 is of a substantially symmetrical design cross-slot-shaped cross-section, which is characterized by a twist of the connection element by 90 ° around a longitudinal central axis of the connection element around itself.
- the recording room 18 is completely enclosed laterally by a boundary wall, which is composed of several side walls 20 and end walls 22.
- Each of the four legs is cross-shaped Recording space 18 each through two opposite side walls 20 and an end wall 22 arranged between them.
- the contact means 26 are curvatures of the side walls 20 (see FIGS. 1 and 2 in Connection with Fig. 5) which e.g. be generated by an embossing process can.
- the curvatures 26 have an extension extending in the insertion direction 14 elongated shape and - seen in the direction of insertion - in one middle region of the first socket section 10 is arranged. As in Fig. 4 is shown, the bulges 26 are also - transverse to the direction of insertion seen - in a central area of each leg 24 of the cross-slot-shaped receiving space 18.
- Each pair of opposing contact means or bulges 26 defines a contact zone 28 for one to be contacted flat plug contact.
- Each leg 24 of the cruciform receiving space 18 has such a contact zone 28. Is a plug contact in introduced the first socket section 10, the width of which is at least that Distance between the contact zones 28 two together the respective slot corresponds to the forming leg, this plug contact is made at two contact zones 28 contacted.
- the contact means 26 on the one hand ensure a secure fit of the Plug contact in the first socket section 10 and the other one reliable electrical contact.
- the width of the plug contact should be therefore not be less than the distance between the contact zones 28 opposite legs 24 of the cruciform receiving space 18.
- the dimensions of the first socket section 10, i.e. the maximum width of the receiving space 18 and the Distance between opposing contact means 26, on plug contacts each adapted to a certain size.
- the tab connector can be both in the one slot of the cross-shaped receiving space 18 as well as with an orientation rotated by 90 ° in the others Insert the slot in the receiving space 18.
- the first socket section 10 also has a closure 30 which prevents the connecting element from being bent into its use state due to the elasticity of the sheet material unfolds.
- the closure 30 comprises two securing tabs 32, which in FIG engage trained safety openings. On theirs through the Free ends protruding through securing openings 34 have the securing tabs 32 each have a locking deformation 36.
- the locking deformations 36 each curvature of the locking tabs 32, which prevent the securing tabs 32 inadvertently from the securing openings 34 solve, i.e. can slip out.
- the bulges 36 are formed be before the locking tabs 32 through the locking holes 34 are inserted through, form the securing tabs 32 with the securing openings 34 a snap or snap lock, i.e. the bulges 36 engage behind the securing openings 34, as soon as the locking tabs 32 through the locking openings 34 protrude that the connection element is in its use state located.
- the shape of the locking deformations 36 is not on bulges limited. It is e.g. also possible to secure the locking tabs 32 in in an undeformed state through the securing openings 34 and only afterwards through the safety openings 34 protruding free ends of the securing tabs 32 around bend a suitable angle, for example 90 °.
- the securing tabs are 32 tongue-like extensions of an end wall 22 that along an edge region of the end wall 22 is arranged at a distance from one another are and - seen in the direction of insertion - each in the area of the ends of the first socket section 10 are.
- the securing openings 34 are positioned accordingly and in extensions of that side wall 22 formed on the end wall 22 with the locking tabs 32nd borders.
- Fig. 1 shows that the second socket section 12 as a main slot provided contact slot 38 and a transverse slot oriented transversely thereto 40 has. Both the main slot 38 and the secondary slot 40 is designed as a receiving space for a flat plug contact.
- the main slot 38 has an extending along the main slot 38 Contact path on by four along the contact slot 38th distributed contact areas is formed.
- Each leg of the Main slot 38 includes two contact areas. Every contact area is there defined by a pair of contact elements 42-48, each opposite each other on both sides of the contact slot 38 are arranged.
- On both sides of the secondary slot 40 is in each case the relevant leg of the main slot 38 an inner contact area 50, formed by an inner pair of contact elements 44 and 46, and an outer contact area 52 formed by an outer pair of contact elements 42 and 48, respectively.
- Opposing contact elements 42-48 each have a contact area 50, 52 are at a distance of about 0.8 mm from one another on. This enables the inclusion of flat plug contacts with a Thickness of 0.8 mm. Depending on the application, the distance from opposite Contact elements but also adapted to other connector thicknesses his.
- the distance between the inner contact areas 50 is one another in the illustrated embodiment not more than 2.8 mm and preferably about 2.0 to 2.8 mm.
- the distance between the outer contact areas 52 not more than 4.8 mm and preferably about 4.0 to 4.8 mm.
- the through the distributed contact areas 50, 52 formed contact path of the main slot 38 allows thus a contact of flat plug contacts different Wide.
- the contact slot 38 of the illustrated is particularly suitable Embodiment for contacting flat plug contacts with a connector width of 2.8 mm over 4.8 mm up to 6.3 mm.
- a centered in the contact slot 38, comparatively narrow flat plug with a width of about 2.8 mm is only contacted by the contact elements 44, 46 of the inner contact areas 50, while a plug contact, the width of which is at least 4.8 mm, both in the inner contact areas 50 and in the outer Contact areas 52 and thus a total of four pairs of contact elements 42-48 is contacted.
- the secondary slot 40 which runs transversely to the main slot 38, has a pair of opposing sides of the main slot 38 Contact sections 54, each along the secondary slot 40 extend.
- the distance between opposite contact sections 54 to each other is approximately in the illustrated embodiment 0.6 mm.
- the contact sections 54 thus define an insertion width of the secondary slot 40, which is smaller than that of the main slot 38.
- Flat plug contacts can thus be contacted through the secondary slot, which have a smaller thickness than those plug contacts which for Recording in the main slot 38 are provided.
- the insertion width of the secondary slot 40 but also adapt other connector thicknesses.
- the second bushing section 12 can thus optionally be thicker or contact thinner tabs. That the further main slot 38 and the narrower secondary slot 40 are oriented perpendicular to one another are unproblematic for practical use because the connection element due to the symmetry of the receiving space 18 of the first socket section 10 rotated by 90 °, whereby the orientation of the main slot 38 or the secondary slot 40 simple way of orienting a plug contact to be contacted is customizable. Despite the asymmetry of the second socket section 12 easy handling of the connection element is thus ensured, and precisely because of the asymmetry of the second socket section 12, the area of application of the connection element is expanded, namely by the possibility of plug contacts of different plug thicknesses and - to contact broad.
- the main slot 38 and the secondary slot 40 through continued portions of the side walls 20 limited.
- the end walls 22 of the first bushing section settle 10 does not continue into the second socket section 12, so that the main slot 38 and the secondary slot 40 laterally, i.e. on their parallel end areas extending to the direction of insertion are each open.
- the side walls 20 in the second bushing section 12 have a certain elasticity, while the first socket section 10, such as already mentioned above, due to the fact that from the side walls 20 and the end walls 22 composing circumferential boundary wall has a comparatively higher rigidity. This leads to to that on one inserted into the first, more rigid bushing section 10 Plug contact higher contact forces can act than on one into the second, more flexible socket section 12 inserted plug contact. A plug contact contacted by the second socket section 12 is therefore easier to release than one in the first socket section 10 recorded plug contact.
- connection element for example a power distribution lead frame
- plug contact of an electrical to be separated from the power supply Comparatively easy from the second socket section 12 can be solved.
- 38 perpendicular to the main slot extending side walls 20 ensures that even in the Main slot 38 inserted plug contact by contact forces in the second Socket section is held that are large enough to also in the event of vibrations or mechanical shocks, the To ensure plug contact in the second socket section 12.
- the contact elements 42 are to 48 of the contact distance of the main slot 38 by shaped projections the side walls 20 formed, which delimit the main slot 38.
- the contact sections 54 of the secondary slot 40 are by spring tongues formed, which emerge from the side walls 20 which the secondary slot Limit 40, and which are bent into the secondary slot 40.
