Definitions
- the invention relates to a rope-like structure according to claim 1 and its use according to claims 16, 17 and 22.
- a core sheath rope which combines a plurality of core fiber bundles as a core and is surrounded by an intermediate sheath.
- an intermediate sheath Around the intermediate sheath there is a braided outer sheath made of monofilament yarns.
- the core, intermediate sheath and sheath are not connected to each other and therefore slide against each other, which proves to be disadvantageous when using the core sheath rope.
- a core sheath rope which consists of a braided core, which in turn is formed by a large number of core fiber bundles.
- the core is also surrounded by a braided jacket.
- the core and jacket are not connected to each other and therefore not slip-resistant. Thickening or thin spots are formed in use, which is disadvantageous.
- a rope-like structure proposes a rope-like structure in which the individual fibers, yarns or yarn strands are connected to one another in such a way that the fibers, yarns or yarn strands are mutually non-slip, thereby eliminating the disadvantages mentioned. Another task is to demonstrate various uses of such rope structures.

- FIG. 1 shows the schematic structure of a core sheath rope according to the invention in section.
- a core sheath rope 10 has an inner core region 1 and a sheath region 2 surrounding it.
- the core region 1 consists of at least one core 3, which in turn is formed from a large number of fibers, yarns or yarn strands, the latter being referred to collectively as so-called core fibers 5.
- the jacket area 2 consists of a jacket 4, which in turn is formed from a multiplicity of fibers, yarns or yarn strands, the latter being referred to collectively as so-called jacket fibers 6.
- core area 1 There may also be several cores in core area 1, e.g. three or five, equipped with core fibers of the same or different types.
- core fibers 5 ' A portion of the core fibers 5, referred to as core fibers 5 ', is now present in the cladding area 2 and is connected to the cladding fibers 6, while a portion of the cladding fibers 6, referred to as cladding fibers 6', is in the core area 1 and in this the core fibers 3 are connected.
- the jacket is mutually non-slip on the at least one core.
- FIG. 2 shows the schematic structure of a core sheath rope with an intermediate
- a core sheath rope 20 has the inner core area 1, the sheath area 2 surrounding it, at least one core 3 with the core fibers 5 and the sheath 4 with the sheath fibers 6, as already described in FIG. 1.
- This intermediate jacket area 7 consists of an intermediate jacket 8, which in turn is formed from a large number of fibers, yarns or yarn strands, the latter being referred to collectively as so-called intermediate jacket fibers 9.
- a portion of the intermediate sheath fibers 9, referred to as intermediate sheath fibers 9 ' is present in the sheath region 2 and is connected therein to the sheath fibers 4, while a portion of the sheath fibers 6, referred to as sheath fibers 6', is in the intermediate sheath region 7 and in this with the intermediate sheath fibers 9 is connected.
- a portion of the core fibers 5 ' may be present in the cladding region 2 and connected to the cladding fibers 6, while a proportion of the cladding fibers 6' may be present in the core region 1 and connected to the core fibers 3.
- Fig. 3 shows a first embodiment of a core sheath rope made of high-performance fibers.
- the core 3 consists of very high-strength, high-performance fibers 5 with the least elongation and high tensile strength, e.g. Kevlar, Dyneema, Spectra, low-stretch polyester (PEN).
- the jacket 4 consists of particularly abrasion-resistant, edge-resistant, cut-resistant, heat-resistant and / or flame-retardant fibers 6, such as Kevlar, Nomex, polyamide (PA) and polyester (PES).
- Fig. 4 shows a second embodiment of a gusset rope as a dynamic rope.
- the core 3 here has a large number of fine, high-performance fibers, which allow a much higher damping of dynamic shocks. This results in improved dynamic properties with the same or reduced rope diameters compared to known, conventional ropes.
- the sheath fibers 6 of the sheath 4 are more abrasion-resistant, less sensitive to moisture and more cut-resistant, so that the sheath 4 is attached to the core 3 in a non-slip manner even with the most varied fiber properties. Use as a dynamic, high-performance rope for sports, industrial and commercial applications with high impact rates.
- Fig. 5 shows a third embodiment of a core sheath rope as a static rope.
- the core 3 has high-performance fibers 5, such as polyester (PES) and polyamide (PA) with a significantly reduced elongation but a higher tensile strength. This results in improved static properties with the same or reduced rope diameters compared to conventional ropes.
- the sheath fibers 6 of the sheath 4 have significantly more abrasion-resistant, moisture-insensitive and cut-resistant properties, so that the sheath 4 is attached to the core 3 in a non-slip manner even with the most varied of fiber properties.
- 6 shows a fourth exemplary embodiment of a core sheath rope as a dynamic rope with an intermediate sheath.
- the core 3 has high-strength high-performance fibers 5 with a significantly reduced elongation and a higher tensile strength compared to today's polyamide or polyester ropes. This results in improved static properties with the same or reduced rope diameters compared to conventional ropes.
- the intermediate sheath 8 consists of different or the same fibers 9 as those of the core or sheath, and have a net-like structure to allow the formation of an air cushion under the sheath 2 and, coupled with the smaller diameters, thereby have a reduced air resistance.
- the core 3, the intermediate sheath 8 and the sheath 2 are connected to one another in such a way that the intermediate sheath 8 and the sheath 2 are attached to one another and to the core 3 in a non-slip manner even with the most varied of fiber properties.
- the air cushions thus created in the intermediate sheath have the effect that the core sheath rope paired with the smaller diameter has a reduced air resistance.
- Such a rope is suitable for high-performance sailing, for air rescue missions and applications where low air resistance is required.
- Fig. 7 shows a section of a gusset rope with characteristic data. Important characteristics such as heat resistance, breaking load, diameter, max. Elongation, the date of manufacture, the EN standard incorporated as fibers.
- Fig. 8 shows a fifth embodiment of a Kemmantelseil with an intermediate sheath.
- the core 3 has high-performance fibers 5 with fibers such as polyamide (PA), polyester (PES), low-stretch polyester (PEN), aramid or Dyneema.
- the intermediate sheath 8 consists of so-called damping yarns, such as monofilament or elastic game, which have a high compression property, while the sheath 4 consists of sheath fibers 6, such as polypropylene, polyester or polyamide, which have a high abrasion, cut or edge strength.
- the core sheath rope is particularly suitable for rescue operations as a heat-resistant rope in the fire service and army sectors.
- the mixing, or the connection, of the core fibers in the at least one cladding area can be slight, i.e. less than 3%. At the same time, there is no need for a mixture of sheath fibers in the core area. However, if this is the case, there is also a slight mixing, i.e. it is less than 3%. Core fibers are then in at least one cladding area, while cladding fibers are connected in the core area. This mainly concerns applications of the dynamic and static kernmantel ropes used today.
- the mixing, or the connection, of the core fibers in the at least one cladding area can be moderately large, i.e. it is 3% but less than 30%.
- the mixing, or the connection, of the core fibers in at least one cladding area is large to maximum, i.e. it is 30% but a maximum of 50%.
- the mixing is a maximum of 50%, i.e. 50% of the core fibers are then in the cladding area, while 50% of the cladding fibers are connected in the core area, so the core can hardly be distinguished from the cladding.
- the connection need not necessarily be homogeneous over the entire cross section of the rope.
- Typical applications can be found on a sail sheet, as ropes instead of steel ropes, as load ropes with alternating bends or as a replacement for twisted ropes.
- Kernmantel ropes according to the invention are used in occupational safety, in water, sailing and mountain sports, as well as in the police, fire service and army.
- a cord 30 consists of individual fibers, yarns or yarn strands, collectively referred to as cord fibers 11, which are connected to one another or are present such that the fibers, yarns or yarn strands are mutually non-slip. Its appearance is similar to that of a twisted or braided cord, but it has at least 10% more strength in elongation behavior and at least 10% more knot strength than conventional cords. A positive feature is that it doesn't fray or twist at the cut end.
- Fig. 11 shows the increased knot strength of the cord, which is at least 10% compared to conventional cords.
- Fig. 12 shows a cord with herringbone-like appearance. It is similar to a twisted or braided rope. When cutting, this cord does not twist or fray, which appears to be particularly advantageous. Similar to a kernmantel rope, this cord can also consist of two different materials. A mixture of antistatic or colored fibers can also significantly improve the desired properties. Such a cord is often used as a work tool as a so-called harness cord on jacquard machines and is made from high-performance fibers, from synthetic and heat-resistant natural fibers. This cord is typically 0.8 - 2.5 mm thick and is also referred to as the 'kernmantel cord' because of its similar structure to the kernmantel cord. Cords of this type are sewable and do not need to be spliced, which is a significant simplification in the manufacture.
- ropes can also be produced which are similar in appearance to a twisted rope and which are made from high-strength aramid fibers and from heat-resistant Nomex fibers exist.
- Ropes of this type can be sewn at the section and therefore do not need to be spliced. In addition, such a rope does not twist at the interface.
