Definitions
- the invention relates to an odor trap for filtering exhaust gases, in particular in a manhole of a sewer, according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Sewer channels are used to drain wastewater, which can be rainwater and service water.
- the wastewater is usually fed to a sewage treatment plant where it is reprocessed.
- Such sewers are open at the top, so that rainwater can enter. Deposits form in each sewer, emanating unpleasant odors, which can escape through the manholes and inlets. In sewers, which also drain water, comes in addition to the smell of feces and washing and rinsing added.
- a scent trap for a street channel which has a base body and a floating body axially displaceable therein with an odor filter.
- the main body forms an annular space for temporary storage of rainwater.
- the floating body floats on the water so that rainwater flowing downstream can drain off and the gap formed between the float and the base body is sealed. If there is no water in the annulus, the float sits sealingly on a conical sealing surface of the body. Gas escaping upwards from the sewer flows through the odor filter mounted on the float. Here, the unpleasant odors are absorbed, so that the gas flowing from the manhole is taken off the smell.
- the odor filter may be water permeable or not; further can the odor filter protected by a shield at the top.
- a sand trap is provided, which is located in the manhole below the manhole cover and is used to catch leaves and dirt.
- the gas lock comprises a base body which forms a siphon together with an insert element. In the siphon, water can accumulate to form a seal between the channel gases and the vicinity of the manhole.
- the insert element comprises an upwardly closed cover, which covers an inner tube element connected to the main body.
- This odor trap has the advantage that it is simple and therefore inexpensive to produce. Wastewater entering the outer annular chamber can flow into the inner annular chamber and at the same time forms a seal against gases flowing out of the manhole shaft. These must necessarily flow through the filter unit, where the odors are absorbed. Due to the fact that the insert element rests loosely on the base of the base body, manufacturing tolerances can be kept coarse, whereby the production costs remain low.
- the outer wall of the main body is axially longer than the insert element and the insert element is axially longer than the inner wall of the main body.
- this makes a flat design possible, so that the main body can be arranged above crampons of a manhole and thus can fill the entire cross section of the manhole.
- outer wall, the inner wall and the insert element are - viewed in cross-section - preferably round and thus adapted to most commercial manholes.
- the mode of action and the mode of operation of the odor barrier according to the invention can also be realized with a cross section deviating from a circular shape.
- outer wall, inner wall and insert element may have flats over part of the height to allow for crampons or probes mounted in the manhole.
- the outer annular chamber and the inner annular chamber are connected by means of passage openings which are arranged in the wall of the insert element close to the bottom of the base body.
- the wall extends - looking at the development of the insert element - in the region of the opening preferably wave-shaped.
- the passage openings may also be formed by axial elevations and depressions in the bottom of the base body. The passage area formed by the sum of the passage openings is preferably larger than the total passage area, which is formed by the sum of openings in the cover element.
- the filter unit comprises a support body, which is at least indirectly connected to the wall, and a resting on the support body activated carbon filter.
- the support body is preferably grid-shaped made of an acid-resistant material, such as stainless steel or plastic.
- a gas-permeable distribution mat which consists of a foamed plastic. This ensures that the gas flowing through is distributed evenly over the entire available cross-sectional area.
- the basic body is made in one piece.
- the main body can also be made in two parts, wherein the inner wall is subsequently connected to a structural unit consisting of the bottom and the outer wall. Deep-drawing is particularly suitable as a production method, since hereby large lots are easy and inexpensive to manufacture.
- the base body is preferably made of polyethylene (PE), glass fiber plastic (GRP), polypropylene (PP) or polyphenylene sulfide (PPS).
- the outer wall has at least one reinforcing rib surrounding a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.
- the main body has axially in the region of the first opening a plurality of regularly distributed over the circumference radial projections which can engage in corresponding recesses of the manhole.
- the radial projections of the base body form recesses into which the cover element can engage with a corresponding plurality of radial projections.
- the cover element covers the base body at least partially axially.
- the openings of the cover element are preferably designed in the form of regularly distributed over the circumference slots.
- the cover element has a base body facing and coaxial to the longitudinal axis extending cylindrical portion whose diameter is greater than the outer diameter of the insert element, wherein the apertures are arranged radially outside of the central portion. It is provided that the cylindrical portion in the inserted state of the cover element in the base body, the insert element at least partially covered axially. The waste water flowing through the apertures, which are arranged axially above the central portion, is guided in this way to the outer surface of the cylindrical portion and then drips to the outer wall of the main body, where it flows further down into the outer annular chamber.
- FIG. 1 shows an odor trap 1, which serves for insertion into a manhole and has a main body 2 with a longitudinal axis X, an insert element 3 and a cover element 4.
- the main body 2 has a frusto-conical outer wall 5, which forms an upper first opening 6, a disk-shaped bottom 7 and a coaxial inside the outer wall 5 arranged cylindrical tube-shaped inner wall 8. Between the inner wall 8, the bottom 7 and the outer wall 5, an annular space 9 is formed , which for temporary storage of wastewater, in particular rainwater or surface water, is used. With continuous, for example due to precipitation, nachf jobdem wastewater, the wastewater level in the annular space 9 increases until it is in a plane with the end face of the cylindrical tube-shaped inner wall 8. If further wastewater flows into the annular space 9, the waste water exceeds the upper edge of the inner wall 8 and flows through the lower second opening 11 of the base body 2, thus formed, into a manhole, not shown.
- the main body 2 has an overall height of about 320 mm and the upper first opening has an outer diameter of about 625 mm.
- the insert element 3 is tubular and used loosely in the base body 2.
- the insert element 3 comprises a tube 12 having a wall 13, a grid 14 fixedly connected to the tube 12 as a support body, one on the grid 14 resting grid mat 15 and resting on the distribution mat 15 activated carbon filter 16.
- the grid 14 is fixed for example via rivets to the tube 12 and consists of an acid-resistant material, such as stainless steel or plastic.
- the grid 14, the distribution mat 15 and the activated carbon filter 16 are adapted to the round cross-section of the tube 12 and close it upwards.
- the insert element 3 has a largest outer diameter D E , which corresponds approximately to the smallest inner diameter d G of the outer wall of the base body 2.
- D E the largest outer diameter
- d G the smallest inner diameter of the outer wall of the base body 2.
- the insert element 3 is automatically aligned when inserted approximately coaxially with the base body 2, so that it does not require a centering.
- the formed cross-sectional area of the insert element and thus also of the activated carbon filter 16 is as large as possible, so that the gas mass flow is also maximum, which flows through the filter unit.
- the insert element 3 divides the annular space formed in the main body 2 in an outer annular chamber 17, which is formed between the outer wall 5 and the bottom 7 of the base body 2 and the wall 13 of the insert element 3, and an inner annular chamber 18 which between the wall 13 of the Insert element 3 and the bottom 7 and the inner wall 8 of the base body 2 is formed.
- the outer annular chamber 17 and the inner annular chamber 18 are connected to each other by means of passage openings 19 through which wastewater can flow.
- the passage openings 19 are viewed through a - in plan view of the settlement - Wavy edge formed, as shown in Figure 2 can be seen.
- the starting material used is a thin-walled rectangular plate 21 made of plastic, for example polyethylene (PE), glass fiber plastic (GRP), polypropylene (PP) or polyphenylene sulfide (PPS).
- This plate 21 is first divided by means of a known separation process, such as sawing or cutting, in two sub-plates 22, 22 ', wherein a wave-shaped separating edge 23, 23' is generated.
- Such a tube 12 forms, as already described above, a part of the insert element 3, wherein it is seated with the end with a wave-shaped profile on the bottom 7 of the base body 2. It is provided that the formed by the wave-shaped profile openings 19 between the outer and inner annular chamber 17, 18 form an overall passage area which is greater than the total passage area formed by the sum of openings 26 of the cover member 4, so more wastewater drain away as can flow.
- the main body 2 fills always only up to the upper edge of the inner wall 8 with wastewater, so that the activated carbon filter remains dry and thus functional.
- the lid member 4 which closes the first opening 6 of the main body 2 upwards to a manhole cover, not shown, serves as a sieve for collecting dirt, such as waste and leaves, and for the simultaneous passage of sewage, especially rainwater.
- the cover element 4 is - viewed in plan view - substantially round and has four regularly distributed over the circumference radial projections 28, 28 ', 28 ", which engage in corresponding radial recesses 29, 29' in the outer wall 5 of the base body 2. On this 1, the cover element 4 is non-rotatably mounted in the base body 2.
- a web 31 running diagonally between two opposing projections and firmly connected to the cover element 4 serves as a handle for easily pulling the cover element 4 out of the base body 2 and removing dirt accumulated therein
- the cover element 4 also has a - in plan view considered - circular central portion 32 and a radially outwardly connected to the central portion 32 coaxial with the longitudinal axis X extending cylindrical portion 33 on.
- the cylindrical portion 33 which has a smallest inner diameter d D , which is greater than the largest outer diameter D E of the insert element 3, covers the insert element 3 in the assembled state, at least in the region of the filter unit axially.
- the volume in the annular space between the outer wall 5, bottom 7 and inner wall 8 is as large as possible
- the axial lengths of cover element 4, body 2 with inner wall 8 and the insert element 3 are coordinated so that the between the activated carbon filter 16 and the bottom of the central Section 32 formed axial gap and the axial gap formed between the upper edge of the inner wall 8 and the grid 14 are as small as possible. They amount to about 10 to 15 mm.
- the passage openings 19 are arranged even below the wastewater level even after a longer evaporation time. Rising channel gases must necessarily flow through the filter unit with the activated carbon filter 16, where the odors are absorbed.
- the duct shaft can communicate with the atmosphere through the passage openings 19 and the slots 26, bypassing the filter unit 27.
- the gases rise upwards and flow through the filter unit 27.
- colder ambient air flows through the slots of the cover unit and through the passage openings 19 in the insert element 3 is sucked in and passes through the filter unit 27 together with the ascending gases from the channel.
- FIG. 3 shows a second embodiment of an odor barrier according to the invention.
- this variant corresponds essentially to the odor barrier according to FIG. 1, to the description of which reference is made.
- Identical components are provided with the same reference numerals. Different components are provided with reference numbers increased by 100.
- the only difference is that the main body 2 according to the illustrated embodiment is made in two parts from a structural unit of outer wall 105 and bottom 107 and a tube as the inner wall 108.
- the assembly 107, 105 is initially manufactured separately by deep drawing, wherein the lower second opening 11 is already provided. Subsequently, the likewise separate tube is connected as an inner wall 108 by means of a conventional connection method, such as welding, with the assembly 107, 105.
