Closure for a wall opening (2) in a building, having C-section holding rails (3, 4) which can be fastened to the outer wall (1) on both sides of the wall opening (2) in a building and sealed against this and into which a number of cover plates (5) can be inserted from above to successively close the wall opening (2), characterised in that the free edge portions (14, 15) of the C-shaped holding rails (3, 4) are bent back into their interior spaces and towards the base and incorporate on their free edges catches (16),
    and in that, when the cover plates (5) are inserted, catches (9) with a catch portion (17) adapted to fit the edge catch (16) can be inserted into the holding rails (3, 4) from above and fastened on the free edges and in that clamping elements, e.g. bolts, (24) which press the cover plates (5) down can be inserted into the clamping members (9).
  2. Closure in accordance with claim 1, characterised in that the catches (16, 17) are designed as sets of teeth.
  3. Closure in accordance with claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the clamping members (9) can be locked in the holding rails (3, 4).
  4. Closure in accordance with one or more of the foregoing claims, characterised in that each holding rail (3, 4) incorporates a fixing flange (12).
  5. Closure in accordance with claim 4, characterised in that the fixing flange (12) is aligned parallel to or perpendicular to the cover plates (5).
  6. Closure in accordance with one or more of the foregoing claims, characterised in that the fixing flanges (12) incorporate drilled keyholes (8) which enable the fixing flanges (12) to be fastened to retaining bolts (18) located in the outer wall (1) of the building.
  7. Closure in accordance with one or more of the foregoing claims, characterised in that each cover plate (5) incorporates in the area of its upper and lower edge horizontal flanges (19, 21) adapted to fit the width of the opening between the holding rails (3, 4), where the upper horizontal flange (19) is offset downwards and the cover plate (5) thus ends in a vertical flange (22) on its upper side.
  8. Closure in accordance with claim 1, characterised in that for adjacent cover plates (5) the edge of the vertical flange (22) of the lower cover plate (5) lies against a seal fastened to the upper cover plate (5).
  9. Closure in accordance with claim 7 or 8, characterised in that the lower end (20) of the cover plate (5) is set back by an amount equal to the thickness of the upper vertical edge portion (22).
  10. Closure in accordance with one or more of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that
    each cover plate (5) is at its upper and lower end bent to form a U with an upper and lower horizontal flange (30, 31), an upper and lower vertical flange (32, 33) and an upper and lower supporting flange (34, 35) bent back from the vertical flange (32, 33).
  11. Closure in accordance with claim 10, characterised in that in the horizontal flanges (30, 31) bent-out portions (36, 37) are provided which correspond with one another when the cover plates (5) are placed one on top of the other.
  12. Closure in accordance with claim 10 or 11, characterised in that the width defined by the vertical flanges (32, 33) and the main surface of the cover plate (5) is equal to the opening between the holding rails (3,4).
  13. Closure in accordance with one or more of the foregoing claims 10 to 12, characterised in that the upper horizontal flange (30) and/or the lower horizontal flange (31) is provided with a seal (38).
  14. Closure in accordance with one or more of the foregoing claims 10 to 13, characterised by a stabilisation plate (39) which can be inserted by a cup-shaped base portion (40) into the hole between the supporting flanges (34, 35) and incorporates horizontal flanges (42, 43).
  15. Closure in accordance with claim 14, characterised in that drilled holes (41) are provided in the vertical flanges (42, 43).
  16. Closure in accordance with one or more of the foregoing claims, characterised in that the lower holes in the holding rails (3, 4) are sealed.
  17. Closure in accordance with one or more of the foregoing claims, characterised in that the clamping members (9) can be clamped inside the holding rails (3, 4) by clamping means, e.g. bolts (23).
  18. Closure in accordance with one or more of the foregoing claim, characterised by joint sealing medium (25) between cover plates (5) and the holding rails (3, 4).
