Definitions
- the invention relates to a guided missile, which has a seeker head at its tip which is covered by a removable protective cap in flight.
- Guided missiles have a seeker head at their tip that is sensitive to radiation from one target to be pursued.
- the search head usually has an imaging optical system, which has an object scene containing the target on a detector or a reticle.
- the signals from the detector become steering signals derived, which lead the missile to the target.
- the search head is through a arched window, the cathedral, covered to the front.
- the cathedral consists of one Material that is transparent to the radiation to which the detector responds.
- Missiles are accelerated to very high speeds. This is the cathedral exposed to considerable mechanical and thermal stress, which the Limit the life of the cathedral and thus the seeker head during the flight can. It is therefore known to first cover the cathedral with a protective cap. The missile is initially guided near the target by other means. Then the protective cap is pyrotechnically detached so that it covers the dome and the seeker head releases and the seeker can detect the target and direct the missile to the target. It is essential that the missile does not by detaching the protective cap damaged or disturbed in its path.
- the invention has for its object to provide a removable protective cap that can be dropped without adversely affecting the missile.
- this object is achieved in that the protective cap in at least two parts are longitudinally held together by releasable connecting means and the protective cap only when held together interlocking structures of the protective cap and the cell of the missile is positively connected to the cell.
- the protective cap is conical and at least lengthways divided two generators of the cone.
- the connecting means are preferred triggerable pyrotechnically.
- To ensure that the parts of the Ensuring the protective cap after the connection means has been triggered is preferably in the protective cap formed an opening such that before triggering the Lanyard inside the protective cap a back pressure occurs.
- the Opening be closed by a removable cover, the cover short is dropped before the connection means are triggered.
- the cover can be through pyrotechnic agents are disposable.
- 10 denotes the tip of a missile.
- the tip 10 contains one (invisible) search head, e.g. an IR seeker head.
- the top 10 is through a cathedral 12, i.e. a domed window, transparent to infrared radiation, 12 closed.
- a conical protective cap 14 is attached in front of the dome 12.
- the Protective cap 14 is along two diametrically opposed generators 16 and 18 of the cone divided longitudinally so that two parts 20 each extending over 180 ° and 22 are formed.
- the two parts 20 and 22 can be triggered by pyrotechnic means Connection means 24 connected to each other.
- the pyrotechnic triggering of the Connecting means 24, the two parts 20 and 22 can be separated from each other.
- the connecting means 24 are in two halves 24A and 24B shared.
- the protective cap 14 is attached by interlocking structures the protective cap and on the cell or tip 10 of the missile with the Missile cell connected. As can be seen from Figure 1, these structures exist from an inside extending along the edge of the protective cap 14 on the cell side protruding ledge 26 in a circumferential groove on the front edge of the tip 10 on a Engages angle of 360 °. If the protective cap 14 breaks down into two parts 20 and 22, each of which only extends over an angle of 180 °, then the form fit no longer exist. The two parts 20 and 22 can differ from the tip 10 of the Release the missile and fly away to the side, as shown in Fig.3.
- an opening 28 is provided. Through this opening enters the room inside the protective cap 14 and in front of the dome 12 a back pressure. This back pressure acts laterally outwards on the two parts 20 and 22.
- this dynamic pressure ensures that the parts 20 and 22 are quickly pushed away to the side.
- FIGS. There is a conical one here Protective cap 30 from three parts, namely two at the tip 32 of the missile adjoining bowl-shaped parts 34 and 36 which form a frustoconical shape Complete section of protective cap 30 and form an opening 38 on the front, and a conical cover 40 which is the tip of the cone of the protective cap 30 forms and once closes the opening 38 and on the other hand the two parts 34 and 36 holds together at the front edge.
- the protective cap 30 is first removed Cover 40 blasted pyrotechnically. This opens the opening 38. About the Opening 38 builds up within the parts 34 and 36, a dynamic pressure, the two Tries to push parts apart. The parts 34 released by the cover 40 and 36 are pushed apart. The positive connection at the rear ends of the Parts 34 and 36 are omitted, so that parts 34 and 36 are dropped obliquely to the rear become.
